A 8 years old intact male Shih-tzu dog with respiratory distress was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. The dog also had a history of several episodes of syncope prior to visit. Physical examination revealed tachypnea, panting, mucous membrane of pale and cyanosis. Holosystolic murmur at the left apex region by auscultation, left sided cardiac enlargement by thoracic radiography and mitral regurgitated flow by echocardiography were detected. Clinical signs were improved by treatment of diuretics, ACE inhibitor, bronchodilator and oxygen therapy.

The inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (inflammatory pseudotumor) is a rarely occurring soft tissue lesion of unknown etiology. It can be of any location, but commonly it is found in lungs. It has been considered as a nonneoplastic reactive inflammatory lesion, but nowadays, confusion and dispute about its character is increasing due to its high recurrence rate and metastasis. We present a patient who had been diagnosed with an inflammatory pseudotumor in the right maxilla area, 1 year before visiting our hospital. After that, her pain and swelling did not resolved and she visit our hospital. On radiographic examination, aggressively infiltrative growth of the lesion with destruction of adjacent bony structure was noted. We found unusual aggressiveness of the inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the head and neck region. Because the typical behavior of the inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is not defined yet, we recommend the surgical excision of the lesion and close follow-up.

A 2.5㎏, 11-year old, intact female mixed breed dog with 1 year history of sporadic seizure was referred to the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital of Chungnam National University. There were no significant finding in CBC and serum chemistry. Based on X-ray, CT scan and MRI, it was diagnosed as syringohydromyelia and hydrocephalus caused by Chiari-like mlaformation. Prednisolone, furosemide and phenobarbital was administered orally. Depend on the number and severity of seizure, the dose of phenobarbital was adjusted. Seizure episode was reduced.

This thesis present implementation of a WBI system for creativity development of the elementary school student in the training activity through web. A proposed system consists of made up a learner module and a manager module. The learner module helps the training activity for developing fluency, flexibility and originality, and the manager module helps and appraises the training activity of the learner. This WBI system is the embodiment of already established creativity development program on th Web. It is anticipated that this system is the model applying the advantage of the Internet to the education and training field in effectiveness.

In this thesis, a method of solving the IP(Internet Protocol) address collision problem on the Web browser in the TCP/IP based on LAN(Local Area Network). These days a number of computers are increasing in geometrical progression, but general users who are not experts are lack of the knowledge about TCP/IP address, by they may use not only their own but also other users' TCP/IP addresses by mistake or intentionally. For the more they may use IP address which is the same as network equipments and then the situation will cause the whole network to be disturbed. As the result it may be happened that not only the original users' network but also the whole users' one do not operate properly in the LAN. In this thesis, the system proposed in this thesis collect address informations of personal computers which are objects of management in local area network and network systems (sever, workstation) and find whether the address informations which are used at that time are the same with the exact which are stored, and then compares with IP address information in the RARP packet on the WEB Browsers. And therefore want to protect the disturbances of network system caused by address change which are occurred by design or by mistakes. It is demonstrated that it can be protected by using the suggested method.

<P>IL-6–mediated STAT3 signaling is essential for Th17 differentiation and plays a central role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. To investigate the molecular mechanism underlying the antirheumatic effects and T cell regulatory effects of STAT3 inhibition, we studied the effects of the JAK 2 inhibitor AG490 on Th17 cell/regulatory T cell (Treg) balance and osteoclastogenesis. AG490 was administered to mice with collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) via i.p. injection, and its in vivo effects were determined. Differential expression of proinflammatory cytokines, including IL-17A, IL-1β, and IL-6, was analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Levels of phosphorylated STAT3 and STAT5 and differentiation of Th17 cells and Tregs after AG490 treatment in our CIA model were analyzed by immunostaining. In vitro development of Th17 cells and Tregs was analyzed by flow cytometry and real-time PCR. AG490 ameliorated the arthritic phenotype in CIA and increased the proportion of Foxp3<SUP>+</SUP> Tregs. In contrast, the proportion of IL-17A–producing T cells and levels of inflammatory markers were reduced in AG490-treated mice. Numbers of p-STAT3<SUP>+</SUP> CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells and p-STAT5<SUP>+</SUP> CD4<SUP>+</SUP> T cells were reduced and elevated, respectively, after treatment with AG490. Furthermore, AG490 markedly increased the expression of molecules associated with Treg development (ICOS, programmed cell death protein 1, ICAM-1, and CD103). The development and function of osteoclasts were suppressed by AG490 treatment. Our results suggest that AG490, specifically regulating the JAK2/STAT3 pathway, may be a promising treatment for rheumatoid arthritis.</P>

Purpose: Although serosal invasion is a critical predisposing factor for peritoneal dissemination in advanced gastric cancer, the accuracy of preoperative assessment using routine imaging studies is unsatisfactory. This study was conducted to identify high-risk group for serosal invasion using preoperative factors in patients with advanced gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinicopathological features of 3,529 advanced gastric cancer patients with Borrmann type I/II/III who underwent gastrectomy at Korea Cancer Center Hospital between 1991 and 2005. We stratified patients into low-(${\leq}40%$), intermediate-(40~70%), and high-risk (>70%) groups, according to the probability of serosal invasion. Results: Borrmann type, size, longitudinal and circumferential location, and histology of tumors were independent risk factors for serosal invasion. Most tumors of whole stomach location or encircling type had serosal invasion, so they belonged to high-risk group. Patients were subdivided into 12 subgroups in combination of Borrmann type, size, and histology. A subgroup with Borrmann type II, large size (${\geq}7$ cm), and undifferentiated histology and 2 subgroups with Borrmann type III, large size, and regardless of histology belonged to high-risk group and corresponded to 25% of eligible patients. Conclusions: This study have documented high-risk group for serosal invasion using preoperative predictors. And risk stratification for serosal invasion through the combination with imaging studies may collaboratively improve the accuracy of preoperative assessment, reduce the number of eligible patients for further staging laparoscopy, and optimize therapeutic strategy for each individual patient prior to surgery.
