Vol.24 No.2

Asthma is precipitated into acute episode of airway obstruction by respiratory infection. Also, some immunological abnormalities including deficiencies of IgG subclasses are reported in patients with asthma. A 65 year old woman, who has a 20 years history of bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis, has been suffering from recurrent upper and lower respiratory infection for 2 years. She has been admitted frequently by asthma exacerbation. We evaluated her immunoglobulin level. IgG subclass III level was reduced at 14.3 mg/dl (normal range 23.0~196.0 mg/dl) with other IgG subclass profiles in the normal range. So, we administrated IVIG (intravenous immunoglobulin) monthly 0.4 g/kg dose for symptomatic IgG3 deficiency. She was much improved in clinical course : without asthma exacerbation, recurrent respiratory infection, and need for antibiotics. So, the symptomatic IgG subclass deficient patients may be candidates for IVIG replacement.

      • J.S.Bach 曲의 原典版과 解釋版에 關하여 : Centered on the Invention of J.S.Bach J.S.

Vol.6 No.-

The Invention of J.S.Bach has some problems to play on the piano, for it is some pieces of music which were written for the then musical instrument, Clavichord, and moreover there is not much difference between a piano and a forte for the narrow dynamic of the Clavichord. That is, because the Invention is the music for the musical instrument completely different from the modern one, and the music completely different from the modern, it has many problems to play on the piano. But there is another problem. The problem lies in the then art of printing. As the art of printing was then under development, the sons and disciples of Bach must have copied the primary music book. So today there are a few transcriptions left in some museums and libraries, by which there has appeared some kinds of the transcription-edition. And also there have been published some kinds of the explanation-edition for the more understanding of the transcription. since the transcription-edition have no dynamic, tempo, phrasing, articulation and agogic, ate. But there is the other problem. The explanation-edition are different in the contents each other: and so we must not examine a particular kind of edition, and have to compare the several editions. The purpose of the study is to compare the several editions.

Vol.5 No.1

The art song as we know it today was a product of the romantic era. It was created by the union of romantic poetry and music in the early nineteenth century. This union was consummated with such artistry by Franz Schubert and his successors, notably Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms and their consolidated successor, Richard Strauss, that the new genre came to be known all over Europe by the German word for song Lied. The lied depended for its flowering on the upsurge of Iyric poetry that jerked the rise of German romanticism. Goethe(1749-.1832) and Heme(1799-1856) are the two leading figures among a group of poets who, like Wordsworth and Byron, Keats in English literature, cultivated a subjective mode of expression through the short Iyric poem. The lied brought to flower the romantic desire for the union of music and poetry. The lied met brought of the age not only for subjective expression but also for a type of emotion in music that was specific and easy to identify. The lied ranged from tender sentiment to dramatic balladry. Its favorite themes were love and longing, the beauty of nature, the transience of human happiness. Within a short time the lied achieved immense popularity and made a durable contribution to world art. Richard Strauss was born in Munich, Germany on June 11, 1864. His teachers in music included Tombo, Benno Walter. and F. W. meyer. In 1880s' Strauss met and befriended Alexander Rifler, whose philo sophical conversations with Strauss were powerful factors in inspiring Strauss to write programme music in the vein of Liszt and Wagner, and to adopt the plastic form of the Liszt tone poem. Apart, from compositions for orchestra, and the operas, Strauss has cultivated only the Lied assiduosly. He Ivorte about a hundred and fifty Ivorks in this gener. In the manner of wagner and Hugo wolf he placed the principal emphasis on the particularly expressive treatment of the accmpaniment. And yel voice part is often characterized by an unusually expansive range. Many of his songs are technical masterpieces of great imagination In conelusion it can be said: Strauss was not a true revolutionary. his contrlbution was that he built upon the revolutionary structure of others, above all that of wagner and Liszt following their achievements, ments to their logical conclusion. Strauss, with his rich imagination, his immense craftsmanship, his flair for humor and satire, and his strong impassioned personality succeeded in producing a small number of masterpiceces within those limits mentioned above, masterpieces which are played troughout the world as practically the only products of Germainc music.

Vol.8 No.2

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between materialism and conspicuous consumption, and information sources. Data were administered to 357 women living in Sunchon from June to July 1999. For analysis of the data, factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, duncan's multiple range test, and multiple regression analysis were employed. The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1) Materialism was shown to have the significant differences according to age, marriage, education, occupation, social stratification groups. The higher the education, occupational status, social stratification groups and the lower the age is, or unmarried, the higher is materialism. The use of information sources were shown to have the significant differences according to age, marriage, education, occupation, income, social stratification groups. The higher the education, income, occupational status, social stratification groups and the lower the age is, or unmarried, the higher is use of information. 2) Materialism was shown to have the significant differences according to the groups of conspicuous consumption. The higher conspicuous consumption is, the higher is materialism. The use of information were shown to have the significant differences according to groups of conspicuous consumption. The higher conspicuous consumption is, the higher is use of information. 3) The use of information were shown to have the significant differences according to materialism. The higher materialism is, the higher is use of information. 4) According to the results of the regression analysis examining the relative influences of variables affecting information, the relative importance of the variables are in order of; happiness-pursuable materialism, conspicuous consumption and their explanatory power totalled 18.6%.
