In this study, we had tried to present a plan for improving the actual conditions of practical utilization of teaching material for 6th grade science developed by Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development and distributed to all elementary schools in Korea. Also we presented ways of better utilization of the teaching material after investigating the actual conditions of practical utilization. A survey was made to investigate and collect all data in the major metropolitan cities, the Kangwon, Chungcheong, Honam, and Kyeongsang area, respectively. We surveyed 316 6th grader teachers to investigate the actual conditions of distribution and utilization of teaching material as a general research. In addition, we surveyed 46 teachers to investigate the organization and content of teaching material as a particular research. The results are as follows. First, the teaching material was not approximately transmitted and kept to 6th grader teachers. Second, the utilization guide was not made. Third, it was reported that the thematic divisions of teaching material was a strong point, but the less detailed experiment manual was a weak point. Fourth, the consideration of content difficulties and simplicity was necessary to improve the material. Fifth, additional items should be included in the introductory presentation, convenience of reorganization, activity material causing learning interest, guidance of substitution experiment, and more concrete notice of experiment activity. Finally, there were positive responses of more than 4.0 point of Likert scale (1 to 5 point scale) in detail investigations of thematic items, which could have possibility that the teaching material was helpful to elementary school science field.
내구성 증진을 위한 콘크리트 구조물의 표면보강 기술개발

본 연구에서는 콘크리트 구조물의 내구성을 증진시킬 목적으로 구조물 표면에 2종류의 혼화제를 이용하여 도포 및 침적한 후 그에 대한 강도, 흡수율 및 내약품성에 미치는 요인을 실험적으로 검토한 결과, MMA 및 BP를 도포 및 침적한 시멘트 모르타르의 휨 및 압축강도는 도포회수의 증가 및 침적시간의 경과에 따라 증가하는 경향을 나타냈다. MMA 및 BP를 도포 및 침적한 시멘트 모르타르의 흡수율은 도포회수의 증가 및 침적시간의 경과에 따라 감소하는 경향을 보였다. MMA 및 BP를 도포 및 침적한 시멘트 모르타르의 중량변화는 약액의 종류에 관계없이 침적시간이 경과함에 따라 감소하는 경향을 나타냈다. In this study, the effects of the number of coat and immersion period on strength properties, waterproofness and chemical resistance of coated and immersed cement mortars using two admixture were examined. Test results showed that the flexural and the compressive strengths of the coated and immersed cement mortars increase with increasing number of coat and immersion period. The water absorption of the painted and immersed cement mortars tended to decrease with increasing number of coating and immersion period. In the case of the change of weight and the immersion period for the solutions, a decreasing tendency was shown as the immersion period increases regardless of solution, with a little variation.

This study is to analyze the research rends centering on the theses related to CAT released in nursing of Korea. Method: The researcher collected the academic degrees and theses published on the book of the academic society from 1980 to 2001, and examined 88 domestic dissertations on nursing science of the CAT. Result: 1) By department, the results were: the nursing thesis 88(43.3%), medical field 45(22.1%), psychologyㆍconsulting education 28(14%). 2) In the type of the CAT in nursing, the results were: acupressure 28(31.5%), Dan-Jeon Breathing 14(15.7%) aroma therapy 5(5.6%) in order. 3) The number of theses increase every year after 1997. 4) As for the type of study design, the results were: the experimental research had the most(47), and the survey research(30). 5) As for the subject, the results were: patients with disease(44), healthy adults(29), literate(9) and medical staff were only 6 theses. 6) in the theme of the theses, the results were: the effect of therapy(76), the experience of therapy(26), adaptation of nursing of therapy(11) and literature reviews were 7. Conclusion: More research needs to be encouraged in the unsatisfactory fields. Researches should be conducted to extend into the practical fields as Korea nursing mediation, project for the establishment of health polices should be conducted.

Steatocystoma multiplex is an uncommon benign skin disease, which typically manifests as numerous intradermal cysts that can be scattered anywhere on the body. Although usually asymptomatic, it can be significantly disfiguring. One type of steatocystoma multiplex is known to be associated with the autosomal dominant inheritance of a mutation in the gene coding for keratin 17 (KRT17). In such cases, it is often concurrent with other developmental abnormalities of the ectoderm-derived tissues, such as the nails, hair, and teeth. To the best of our knowledge, few cases have been reported of steatocystoma multiplex of the oral and maxillofacial region. This report describes a case of steatocystoma multiplex of both sides of the neck and multiple dental anomalies, with a focus on its clinical, radiological, and histopathological characteristics, as well as the possibility that the patient exhibited the familial type of this condition.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of a Tanner-Whitehouse 3 (TW3)-based fully automated bone age assessment system on hand-wrist radiographs of Korean children and adolescents. Materials and Methods: Hand-wrist radiographs of 80 subjects (40 boys and 40 girls, 7-15 years of age) were collected. The clinical efficacy was evaluated by comparing the bone ages that were determined using the system with those from the reference standard produced by 2 oral and maxillofacial radiologists. Comparisons were conducted using the paired t-test and simple regression analysis. Results: The bone ages estimated with this bone age assessment system were not significantly different from those obtained with the reference standard (P>0.05) and satisfied the equivalence criterion of 0.6 years within the 95% confidence interval (- 0.07 to 0.22), demonstrating excellent performance of the system. Similarly, in the comparisons of gender subgroups, no significant difference in bone age between the values produced by the system and the reference standard was observed (P>0.05 for both boys and girls). The determination coefficients obtained via regression analysis were 0.962, 0.945, and 0.952 for boys, girls, and overall, respectively (P=0.000); hence, the radiologist-determined bone ages and the system-determined bone ages were strongly correlated. Conclusion: This TW3-based system can be effectively used for bone age assessment based on hand-wrist radiographs of Korean children and adolescents.

N/A The non-mature antlers of deer, Cervi Parvum Cornu (CPC), have been used as a tonic in traditional Korean medicine. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the quality of Cervi Parvum Cornu which is newly processed by lyophiliztion. We compared lyophilized CPC (LCPC) with parboiled CPC (PCPC) by the yield of water extract, the contents of total free amino acids and the patterns of gangliosides. Methods: We analyzed the quantitiative and qualitative determinations of amino acids in LCPC using HPLC method. The contents and patterns of gangliosides in LCPC were measured by gravimetric analysis and HPTLC. Results: The yields of the water extract from LCPC and PCPC gave 18% and 10%, respectively. The contents of total free amino acids in the PCPC were much higher than the LCPC. Comparing the TLC pattern of gangliosides, the both samples showed similar patterns as the purchased gangliosides. The contents of gangliosides in the LCPC (18.6 mg/g) were higher than those in the PCPC (14.3 mg/g). Conclusions: These results suggest that the lyophilizing process may be an alternative method for improving the quality of CPC.

Anthocyanins belong to a class of flavonoids, exhibiting some of the anti-tumor activities: antiangiogenesisand anti-invasive activity. Recently, the anthocyanins from the Fruit of Vitis coignetiae Pulliat(Meoru in Korea, AIMs) have been reported to have anti-cancer activities. Here, we tested the anti-cancereffects of AIMs in human hepatocelluar carcinoma cells (Hep3B and HepG2 cells). The AIMs inhibitedthe proliferation of the cells in a dose dependent manner. Hep3B cells were more sensitive to AIMs. The AIMs induced apoptosis through the loss of MMP (ΔΨm). The AIMs inhibited the motility andinvasion of the cells in wound healing test and Matrigel-invasion assay, respectively. The anti-migratoryand anti-invasive activities of AIMs were superior to the anthocyanins isolated from black bean. Inconclusion, this study indicates that AIMs have apoptotic and anti-invasive effects on human hepatocellularcarcinoma cells. AIMs had stronger anti-invasive activity than the anthocyanins from coat of black beanon both Hep3B and HepG2 cells. This study provides evidence that the anthocyanins isolated from Meorumight be useful in the treatment of human hepatocelluar carcinoma.

<P>Claudins are a family of proteins that are the most important components of the tight junctions. Recently it has been reported that these proteins are overexpressed in cancers and there is a positive correlation between suppression of the expression of these proteins and anti-invasive activity. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) have been implicated as important mediators in cancer invasion. Here, we investigated the effects of anthocyanins on tight junctions (TJs) and the expression of claudins as well as MMPs. The inhibitory effects of the anthocyanins on cell proliferation, motility and invasiveness were found to be associated with tightening TJs, which was demonstrated by an increase in transepithelial electrical resistance (TER). The expression of claudin proteins was suppressed by anthocyanins. Furthermore, the activities of MMP-2 and -9 were dose-dependently suppressed by anthocyanin treatment. These effects were related to activation of 38-MAPK and suppression of the PI3K/Akt pathway in HCT-116 human colon cancer cells.</P>
