        Ultrasonic Degradation of Endocrine Disrupting Compounds in Seawater and Brackish Water

        In this study, a series of experiments was conducted on the relative degradation of commonly known endocrine-disrupting compounds such as bisphenol A (BPA) and 17α-ethinyl estradiol (Ee₂) in a single-component aqueous solution using 28 and 580 kHz ultrasonic reactors. The experiments were conducted with three different types of model water: deionized water (DI), synthetic brackish water (SBW), and synthetic seawater (SSW) at pH 4, 7.5, and 11 in the presence of inert glass beads and humic acids. Significantly higher sonochemical degradation (93-97% for BPA) occurred at 580 kHz than at 28 kHz (43-61% for BPA), regardless of water type. A slightly higher degradation was observed for Ee₂ compared to that of BPA. The degradation rate of BPA and Ee₂ in DI water, SBW, and SSW after 30 min of ultrasound irradiation at 580 kHz increased slightly with the increase in pH from 4 (0.073-0.091 min-1 for BPA and 0.081-0.094 min-1 for Ee₂) to 7.5 (0.087-0.114 min-1 for BPA and 0.092?0.124 min-1 for Ee₂). In contrast, significant degradation was observed at pH 11 (0.149-0.221 min-1 for BPA and 0.147-0.228 min-1 for Ee₂). For the given frequencies of 28 and 580 kHz, the degradation rate increased in the presence of glass beads (0.1 mm and 25 g) for both BPA and Ee₂: 0.018-0.107 min-1 without beads and 0.052-0.142 min-1 with beads for BPA; 0.021-0.111 min-1 without beads and 0.054-0.136 min-1 with beads for Ee₂. A slight increase in degradation of both BPA and Ee₂ was found as the concentration of dissolved organic carbon (DOC, humic acids) increased in both SBW and SSW: 0.107-0.115 min-1 in SBW and 0.087-0.101 min-1 in SSW for BPA; 0.111-0.111 min-1 in SWB and 0.092-0.105 min-1 in SSW for Ee₂. After 30 min of sonicating the humic acid solution, DOC removal varied depending on the water type: 27% (3 mg L-1) and 7% (10 mg L-1) in SBW and 7% (3 mg L-1) and 4% (10 mg L-1) in SSW.

        큰뱀무 추출물의 항산화 활성 및 항노화에 관한 연구

        본 연구에서는 큰뱀무 추출물의 항산화 활성 및 미백과 주름에 관련된 tyroinase, elastase 저해 효과에 관한 조사를 수행하였다. 추출물의 free radical (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, DPPH) 소거활성(FSC<sub>50</sub>)은 ethyl acetate 분획에서 4.70 μg/mL로 측정되었다. Luminol-의존성 화학발광법을 이용한 Fe<sup>3+</sup>-EDTA/H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> 계에서 생성된 활성산소종(reactive oxygen species, ROS)에 대한 큰뱀무 추출물의 총 항산화능은 ethyl acetate 분획 0.22 μg/mL로, ethyl acetate 분획에서 가장 큰 활성을 나타내었다. 큰뱀무 추출물에 대하여 rose-bengal로 증감된 사람 적혈구의 광용혈에 대한 억제 효과를 측정하였다. 큰뱀무 추출물의 경우 1 ~ 25 μg/mL의 농도에서 광용혈을 억제하였다. 특히 ethyl acetate 분획은 10 μg/mL 농도에서 τ<sub>50</sub>이 416.20 min으로 매우 큰 세포보호 효과를 나타내었다. 미백 효과측정으로는 tyrosinase의 활성 저해 효과(IC<sub>50</sub>)를 측정하였는데 ethyl acetate 분획에서 95.23 μg/mL로 나타났으며 elastase의 활성 저해 효과(IC<sub>50</sub>)는 50 % 에탄올 추출물과 ethyl acetate 분획이 각각 6.27, 4.31 μg/mL로 나타났다. 이상의 결과들은 큰뱀무 추출물이 <sup>1</sup>O<sub>2</sub> 혹은 다른 ROS를 소광시키거나 소거함으로써, 그리고 ROS에 대항하여 세포막을 보호함으로써 생체계, 특히 태양 자외선에 노출된 피부에서 항산화제로서 작용할 수 있음을 가리킨다. 또한 큰뱀무 추출물의 ethyl acetate 분획의 tyrosinase, elastase 저해활성으로부터 항산화 및 항노화 화장품 소재로서의 응용 가능성을 확인하였다. In this study, antioxidative effects and inhibitory effects of Geum aleppicum Jacq. extracts on tyrosinase and elastase were investigated. The ethyl acetate fraction of G. aleppicum Jacq. extract (4.70 μg/mL) showed the most prominent free radical (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, DPPH) scavenging activity (FSC<sub>50</sub>). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging activities (OSC<sub>50</sub>) of some G. aleppicum Jacq. extracts on ROS generated in Fe<sup>3+</sup>-EDTA/ H<sub>2</sub>O<sub>2</sub> system were investigated using the luminol-dependent chemiluminescence assay. The ethyl acetate fraction showed the most prominent ROS scavenging activity (0.22 μg/mL). The protective effects of extract/fraction of G. aleppicum Jacq. against the rose-bengal sensitized photohemolysis of human erythrocytes were investigated. The G. aleppicum Jacq. extracts suppressed photohemolysis in a concentration dependent manner (1 ~ 25 μg/mL), particularly the ethyl acetate fraction exhibited the most prominent celluar protective effect (τ<sub>50</sub>, 416.20 min at 10 μg/mL). The inhibitory effect of G. aleppicum Jacq. extracts on tyrosinase and elastase were investigated to assess their whitening and anti-winkle efficacy. The half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC<sub>50</sub>) of the ethyl acetate fraction on tyrosinase was 95.23 μg/mL. The IC<sub>50</sub> of 50 % ethanol extract and the ethyl acetate fraction on elastase were 6.27 μg/mL and 4.31 μg/mL, respectively. These results indicate that extract/fraction of G. aleppicum Jacq. can function as antioxidants in biological systems, particularly skin exposed to UV radiation by scavenging <sup>1</sup>O<sub>2</sub> and other ROS, and protect cellular membranes against ROS. Especially the ethyl acetate fraction of G. aleppicum Jacq. extracts could be applicable to new functional cosmetics for antioxidant, antiaging.

        금불초 종(種) 및 개화시기에 따른 금불초 꽃 추출물의 항산화 효능

        본 연구에서는 금불초(Inula britannica) 종(種) 및 개화시기에 따른 금불초 추출물의 항산화 효능을 알아보았다. 이들 추출물의 free radical 소거활성을 살펴본 결과, 만개한 금불초 꽃(I. britannica var. chinensis) 추출물의 경우 500 μg/mL의 농도에서 79.89%의 free radical 소거활성을 보였으나, 금불초 유사종인 가는 금불초(I. britannica var. linariaefolia Regel), 가지 금불초(I. britannica var. ramosa) 및 버들 금불초(I. salicina var. asiatica)의 꽃 추출물의 경우 free radical 소거활성이 거의 나타나지 않았다. 또한 꽃이 만개하였을 경우 꽃 추출물 분획에서는 93.62%의 free radical 소거활성을 보였으며, 봉우리 추출물 분획은 43.28%, 낙화추출물 분획은 14.11%를 나타냈다. 금불초의 종 및 개화시기를 선정 후, 추출용매, 온도, 시간을 조절하여 최적의 추출조건을 확립하였다. 그 결과, 65 ℃ 에탄올 추출물에서 가장 높은 DPPH free radical 소거활성이 나타났으며, 시간에 따른 유의적 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 만개한 금불초 꽃 추출물에 대하여 rose-bengal로 증감된 사람 적혈구의 광용혈 실험에서 세포보호효과를 측정한 결과, 5 ~ 50 μg/mL의 범위에서 농도 의존적으로 세포 보호 효과를 나타내었다. 특히 50 μg/mL의 농도에서 τ50이 116.1 min으로 비교물질인 (+)-α-tocopherol에 비해 1.58배 더 큰 세포 보호활성이 있음을 알 수 있었다. HPLC로 금불초 꽃 추출물을 분석한 결과 flavonoid의 일종인 quercetin이 다량 함유되어 있는 것을 확인하였다. 이상의 결과들은, 65 ℃ 에탄올로 추출한 만개한 금불초 꽃 추출물의 경우 다량의 quercetin을 함유하며, 그로 인하여 free radical 소거활성 및 ROS에 대항하여 세포막을 효과적으로 보호함으로써 태양 자외선에 노출된 피부를 보호하는 항산화제로서 작용할 수 있을 것으로 사료되며, 기능성 화장품 원료로서 응용 가능성이 있음을 시사한다. In this study, antioxidative effects of the extracts of different species and flowering periods of Inula britannica were investigated. According to the free radical (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl, DPPH) scavenging activity of the extracts, The I. britannica var. chinensis flower extract (500 μg/mL) was measured in a 79.89% free radical scavenging activity, but the flower extracts of similar species (I. britannica var. linariaefolia Regel, I. britannica var. ramosa, I. salicina var. asiatica) did not show any effect on the free radical scavenging activity. The effects of the free radical scavenging activity of I. britannica var. chinensis flower extracts were exhibited in the order of full bloom (93.68%), bud (43.28%), and fallen blossom (14.11%). Next, we established optimum condition of extract solvent, temperature, extraction time. The extract from ethanol at 60 ℃ showed the most free radical scavenging activity among other conditions and extraction time not relevant in free radical scavenging activity. The protective effects of the extract of I. britannica var. chinensis flower on the photohemolysis of human erythrocytes by using rose bengal were increased in a concentration-dependent manner (5 ∼ 50 μg/mL). In particular, the extract in 50 μg/mL concentration exhibited better protective activity (τ<sub>50</sub> = 116.1 min) than (+)-α-tocopherol (τ<sub>50</sub> = 73.44 min), which is a known lipophilic antioxidant. Principle component of I. britannica var. chinensis flower was identified as quercetin of flavonoids by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). These results indicate that the extract of I. britannica var. chinensis flower can function as antioxidants in biological systems, particularly skin exposed to UV radiation by scavenging free radical and <sup>1</sup>O<sub>2</sub>, and protect cellular membranes against ROS. It is concluded that the antioxidative effects of the extract of I. britannica var. chinensis flower could be applicable to functional cosmetics.

        알루미늄 PEO 코팅의 결정상에 미치는 공정 조건에 대한 연구 I. Unipolar 펄스와 코팅시간

        전해질로 $Na_2SiO_3$을 사용하여 A1050 알루미늄 판재를 pulse 폭 $ 2000{\mu}sec$, impulse 420 V, 400 ${\mu}$sec의 unipolar pulse로 플라즈마 전해 산화 코팅(plasma electrolytic oxidation coating)을 하여 산화 피막을 2, 5, 15, 30분에 따라 형성시킨 다음 산화피막을 분석하였다. 표면에 형성된 산화물의 결정상은 ${\alpha}-alumina$와 ${\gamma}-Alumina$로서 시간에 따른 변화는 없었다. 반응 초반에는 ${\gamma}-Alumina$가 많이 생성되었지만 시간이 갈수록 ${\gamma}-Alumina$의 양에는 변화 없이 ${\alpha}-alumina$가 많이 생겨남을 알 수 있었다. 이런 결과는 micro plasma에 의해서 ${\gamma}-Alumina$가 우선 생성되고, 이후 계속되는 micro plasma의 열에 의해서 ${\alpha}-alumina$로의 전이가 일어나기 때문으로 판단된다. Crystallographic phases of Plasma electrolytic oxidized Al alloy, A1050, were investigated. The electrolyte of PEO was $Na_2Si_2O_3$ and KOH. Unipolar pulse, $ 2000{\mu}sec$ with $400{\mu}sec+420V$ impulse, were applied for 2 min, 5 min, 15 min, and 30 min. ${\gamma}-Alumina$, as well as ${\alpha}-alumina$, was main crystal phase. ${\gamma}-Alumina$ was appeared in the beginning, then the amount of ${\alpha}-alumina$ was increased with time, but the amount of ${\gamma}-Alumina$ remained constant without any increasing. So, it is concluded that plasma gas produce ${\gamma}-Alumina$ at the first, and then ${\gamma}-Alumina$ transform ${\alpha}-alumina$ finally. During the transformation, high temperature of micro plasma gives transformation energy.

      • 솔잎(Pinus densifloras Z.)의 조성분이 전통 약주 발효에 미치는 영향

        藥酒 製造시 솔잎 添加 效果를 調査하기 위하여 솔잎 抽出物 첨가가 S. cerevisiae의 生育에 미치는 影響과, 솔잎분말을 添加한 제국 과정 중의 酵素 活性 및 약주 발효 과정 중 pH, 總酸, 알코올의 含量 變化를 調査하였다. 솔잎의 일반 성분으로는 수분 54.80%, 단백질 8.18%, 조지방 2.07%, 섬유 23.13%, 조회분 1.10%였다. 솔잎 첨가구가 대조구에 비하여 S.cerevisiae의 증식을 억제하는 효과가 있었다. 제국 과정 중의 amylase 활성은 모든 시험구에서 제국 24시간에서 최고의 활성을 나타내었고, 솔잎 2.0%구는 대조구에 비하여 높은 활성을 보였다. 산성 protease 활성은 솔잎 첨가구가 대조구에 비하여 효소활성이 높았으며, 솔잎 분말 2.0% 첨가구는 발효 24시간에서 활성이 가장 높았다. pH는 솔잎의 첨가량이 증가할수록 높았으나 발효기간이 경과할수록 감소하였다. 총산의 변화는 발효기간이 길어질수록 높았고, 0.1, 0.5, 1.0% 솔잎첨가구는 대조구에 비하여 총산의 함량이 높았으며 첨가량이 많아질수록 낮아졌다. 솔잎 분말의 첨가량이 증가할수록 알코올의 함량은 대조구보다 낮았으나, 첨가량에 따른 큰 영향은 나타나지 않았다. The study is to investigate the effects of addition of pine needles's extract on the growth of Saccharomyces cerevisiae and to investigate the changes of α-amylase activity, acid-protease activity, pH, total acidity, alcohol content during alcohol fermentation with variation of the amount of pine needles powder. The composition of pine needles sample were as follows : moisture 54.8%, crude protein 8.18%, crude lipid 2.07%, crude fiber 23.13%, crude ash 1.10%. Treatment groups with pine needles extract have an inhibitory effect on the growth of S. cerevisiae companre to control group. The highest activity of α-amylase was shown at 24 hours fermentation in all treatments and the only treated group with 2.0% addition of pine needles powder had higher amylase activity than that of control group. The activity of acid-protease in the treatments was higher than that of controls and the highest protease activity of 2.0% treated group was shown at 24 hours fermentation. The pH was increased in the adding more pine needles powder but it would be decreased with the lapse of fermentation time. The change of total acidity was increased with the longer fermentation. Although the content of total acidity was higher in 0.1, 0.5 and 1.0% treated groups than that of control group, the small in addition of pine needles powder the less total acid content. Although the alcohol content of treated groups were a little lower than that of control group, there were no different effect on the alcohol content as the additive amount of pine needles powder.

        수확 후 산채류의 미생물 제어를 위한 이산화염소수와 유기산 및 Blanching 병합 처리

        수확 후 산채류의 미생물학적 안전성을 확보하기 위해 선정된 산채류인 취나물과 곤드레에 이산화염소수와 유기산 용액 병합 처리 및 이산화염소수, 유기산 용액, blanching 병합처리 후 미생물 제어 효과를 비교 분석하였다. 50 ppm 이산화염소수와 0.5% citric acid 용액의 병합 처리는 취나물과 곤드레의 총 호기성 세균 수를 2.80~3.64 log CFU/g, 효모 및 곰팡이 수는 2.02~2.67 log CFU/g 감소시켰다. 50 ppm이산화염소수와 0.5% fumaric acid 용액의 병합 처리 후 총 호기성 세균 수는 대조구와 비교하여 3.62~3.82 log CFU/g 감소하였으며, 효모 및 곰팡이의 경우에는 2.47~3.02 log CFU/g 만큼 감소하여 이산화염소수와 citric acid 용액의 병합 처리보다 fumaric acid 용액과의 병합 처리가 더 효과적인 병합 처리 조건이라고 생각된다. 이산화염소수와 fumaric acid 병합 처리 후 blanching 처리된 취나물의 총 호기성 세균 수는 대조구보다 5.12 log CFU/g 더 낮게 검출되었으며, 효모 및 곰팡이는 검출되지 않았다. 곤드레의 경우에도 효모 및 곰팡이는 검출되지 않았으며, 총 호기성 세균 수는 대조구와 비교하여 4.59 log CFU/ g 감소하였다. 따라서 본 연구 결과 이산화염소수와 유기산 용액 전처리 후 blanching 병합 처리가 산채류의 미생물학적 안전성을 확보하는 가장 효과적인 방법이라고 판단된다. To improve the microbiological safety of wild vegetables after harvest, Aster scaber and Cirsium setidens Nakai were treated with combinations of 50 ppm aqueous chlorine dioxide (ClO₂)/0.5% citric acid or fumaric acid, and 50 ppm ClO₂/0.5% fumaric acid/blanching at 90°C for 2 min. Combined treatment of 50 ppm ClO₂ and 0.5% citric acid reduced populations of total aerobic bacteria, yeast, and molds in Aster scaber and Cirsium setidens Nakai by 2.80∼3.64 and 2.02∼2.67 log CFU/g, respectively, compared to those of the control. Combined treatment of 50 ppm ClO₂ and 0.5% fumaric acid reduced total aerobic bacteria, yeast and molds populations by 3.62∼3.82 and 2.47∼3.02 log CFU/g, respectively. Based on the results, combined treatment of ClO₂ and fumaric acid was more effective in controlling microorganisms in the wild vegetables than either ClO₂ or citric acid. In addition, combined treatment of ClO₂/fumaric acid/blanching reduced the populations of total aerobic bacteria by 4.59∼5.12 log CFU/g, and populations of yeast and molds were not detected by treatment. These results suggest that combined treatment of ClO₂/fumaric acid/blanching is the most effective method for improving microbiological safety of wild vegetables after harvest.

        상아질 접착제의 미세누출에 관한 연구

        본 연구는 여러가지 상아질 접착제들의 법랑질 변연과 상아질 변연에서의 미세누출을 비교 평가하기 위해 이루어졌다. 발거된 건전한 영구치의 협면과 설명에 5급 와동을 형성하고 형성된 50개의 와동을 무작위로 5개의 군으로 나누어 각군에 Adper™ Scotchbond™ Multi-purpose Plus Adhesive (SM; 3M ESPE. USA), Adper™ Single bond 2 (SB; 3M ESPE, USA), Clearfil™ SE Bond (SE; Kuraray Medical Inc., Japan), Adper™ Prompt™ L-Pop™ (PL; 3M ESPE, USA), G-Bond™ (GB; GC Co., Japan)를 적용하고 Filtec™ Z350 A3 (3M ESPE. USA)로 충전하였다. 시편을 37℃ 증류수에 24시간 보관한 후 5℃와 55℃에서 10초씩 1000회 열순환하고 2% methylene blue 용액을 24시간 넣어 염색한 뒤, 주수 하에 치아를 협설로 절단하여 색소의 침투 정도를 화상분석현미경을 이용하여 침투깊이를 측정한 뒤 각 군간의 미세누출 정도를 비교하여 침투깊이에 따라 0~3점으로 분류하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 범랑질 변연에서의 미세누출은 PL(0.85), SB(0.55), GB(0.50), SM(0.35), SE(0.25) 순이었으며 PL은 SM 및 SE와 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈다(p<0.05). 2. 상아질 변연에서의 미세누출은 GB(2.10), SE(1.45), PL(1.40), SB(1.05), SM(0.70) 순이었으며 GB는 SB 및 SM과 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈다(p<0.05). 3. 각 실험재료 군내에서 법랑질 변연에 비해 상아질 변연에서 미세누출이 더 크게 나타났으며, SE, PL, GB에서 통계학적으로 유의한 차이를 나타냈다(p<0.05). The objective of this study was to compare the microleakage of five adhesive systems in the enamel and dentin of permanent teeth. Class V cavity preparations with occlusal margins in enamel and gingival margins in dentin were prepared on both buccal and lingual surfaces of 25 extracted human molar teeth. The tested adhesives were: Adper Scotchbond Multi-purpose Plus Adhesive (SM), Adper Single bond 2 (SB), Clearfil SE Bond (SE), Adper Prompt L-Pop (pL) and G-Bond (GB). The results were as follows: 1. At the enamel margins, PL showed the highest leakage value(0.85), and others showed values of SB(0.55), GB(O.50), SM(O.35) and SE(0.25) in decreasing order. There were statistically significant differences in PL vs. SM and PL vs. SE(p<O.05). 2. At the dentin margins, GB showed the highest leakage value(2.10), and others showed values of SE(1.45), PL(1.40), SB(1.05), SM(0.70) in decreasing order. There were statistically significant differences in GB vs. SB and GB vs. SM(p<O.05). 3. Dentin margins showed high dye penetration rate than enamel margins in all material tested groups and there were statistically significant differences for SE, PL and GB.

Methods : fifteen patients with schizophrenia from outpatient clinic and fifteen normal controls from hospital staffs were recruited for the study. To elicit P3a and P3b, 3-stimulus auditory oddball paradigm was employed. The 3-stimulus auditory oddball paradigm was composed of standard tone (1,000 Hz, 75 dB, 80%), target tone (2,000 Hz, 75 dB, 10%) and distracter (White noise, 95 dB, 10%). Results : P3a and P3b were prominent in fronto/central and temporo/parietal areas, respectively, in both schizophrenics and normal controls. The P300 amplitude in patients with schizophrenia was reduced across P3a and P3b (p<0.01). The P300latency in patients with schizophrenia was delayed across P3a and P3b (p<0.01). Conclusion : These results were consistent with frontal and temporo-parietal lobe dysfunctions in schizophrenics. The 3-stimulus auditory paradigm could be applied for patients with schizophrenia and useful for further exploration the disorder.

        The objectives of the study were to: 1) analyze the structure and styles of the printed media for agricultural information, 2) review the utilization of the magazine by farmers and extension workers, 3) survey the needs of subscribers for the printed media, 4) find ways for improvement in putting out the magazine, and 5) recommend effective methods for publication and utilization of the printed media. Data were collected by mail and group interview from 179 of the randomly sampled farmers and from 148 of the extension agents in selected areas in Korea. The data were analyzed by HP 3000 computer in the College of Agriculture, Seoul National University. Major statistical techniques used for the study were frequency distrbution, percentile. The results of the study were as follows: 1. Communication exposure of the farmers to the printed media was lower than that of the extension agents, however the level of exposure was considerably high considering limited number of copy for farmers. 2. Farmers' major channel for acquisition of new farming technology was personal communication with extension agents, and extension agents' major channel for advanced technology was printed media. 3. It was revealed that the farmers did not have any difficulty in understanding contents of the printed media. 4. The printed media had been providing long range information for the farmers and extension agents. The farmers and extension agents responded that the consistency in the table of contents and the articles was good, and they liked the idea of emphasis by adopting the box style editing. 5. The farmers responded that the topics of the magazine should reflect the current change in agriculture. 8. The farmers responded that they would like to see articles on horticulture and successful case stories in farming. 9. The farmer-subscriber fully utilized information on farming and rural life in the printed media. Extended distrubution of the printed media would be necessary to enlarge the benefit from the advanced farming technology and improved rural home life.
