        To investigate the effect of vanillylnonanamide(VN) on the ATPase activity of the sarcoplasmic reticulum(SR) of the skeletal muscle, we prepared the SR vesicles from the back muscle of the rabbit, and measured ATPase activity. The results as follows: Ca-ATPase activity was about 50% in the total ATPase activity of skeletal muscular SR. In the reaction mixture with calcium, 100μM VN increased ATPase activity to 20%, and 100 nM and 10 μM thapsigargin(THP) inhibited the ATPase activity to 50% and 60%, respectively. And 100 μM VN plus 100 nM or 10 μM THP more inhibited ATPase activity than THP alone did it. However, without calcium, 100μM VN did not affect ATPase activity, and 10 μM THP inhibited it to 41%, but VN plus THP inhibited it to 31%. The above results show that VN in the reaction mixture with or without calcium has the different action to ATPase activity when it is used alone or together with Ca-ATPase inhibitor THP. This suggests that VN might increase or decrease the skeletal SR Ca-ATPase activity through affecting the lipid membrane around the Ca-ATPase.

        자활사업 참여자의 창업의지의 발생경로에 관한 연구: 사회적일자리형과 시장진입형 집단에 따른 차이를 중심으로

        본 연구의 목적은 자활근로사업 유형 중 사회적일자리형과 시장진입형 참여자를 대상으로 이들의 자활서비스의 질과 직무만족, 자활의지 그리고 창업의지에 대한 수준과 이에 따른 구조적인 경로차이를 검증하는데 있다. 이를 위해 서울지역에 소재한 31개 지역자활센터에 속한 자활사업 참여자를 대상으로 이루어진 설문조사 데이터가 사용되었으며 분석결과 다음과 같은 주요사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 본 연구에서 설정한 자활사업의 유형인 사회적일자리형과 시장진입형 집단에 따른 수준차이를 잠재평균분석을 통해 검증한 결과 자활근로사업 참여자들이 인식하는 자활서비스의 질과 직무만족, 자활의지는 모두 동일한 것으로 나타났다. 반면 창업의지의 경우 시장진입형 참여자들이 사회적일자리형 참여자들에 비해 그 수준이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자활사업 유형에 따른 자활서비스의 질과 직무만족, 자활의지 그리고 창업의지의 관계에 대한 구조모형의 분석결과 자활서비스의 질은 창업의지에 부(-)적인 영향을 미쳤지만 직무만족을 통해서는 정(+)적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 또한, 본 연구에서 설정한 구조모형에서는 자활사업유형에 따른 집단 간 차이가 부분적으로 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 본 연구결과를 바탕으로 현행 자활사업에 대한 논의와 실천적 함의를 제시하였다. The purpose of this research is to find out levels of self-support service quality, job satisfaction, self-support intention, and entrepreneurial intention based on the groups of social employment and market approach types which are self-sufficiency programs, and to verify differences in the structural path. In order to proceed, survey data were utilized which were formed by self-support program participants who belonged to 31 regional self-support centers located in Seoul area, and following key factors which were found as the result of the analysis. First, as the result of the verification through the latent mean analysis for the level differences according to the social employment and market approach types which are the self-support program types selected in this research, quality of self-support service, job satisfaction, and self-support intention from self-employment participants were all the same. On the other hand, in case of entrepreneurial intention, market approach type of participants showed higher level compared to the social employment type participants. Second, as the result of the analysis on the structural model in relation with the self-support service quality, job satisfaction, self-support intention, and entrepreneurial intention according to the self-support program type, self-support service quality affected negatively to the entrepreneurial intention, but it affected positively through the job satisfaction. In addition, it partially existed differences between groups according to the self-support program type that was established in this research. Lastly, this research presented discussion and practical implications on the current self-support program based on the result of the research.

        The Effect of Dimyristoylphosphatidylethanol on the Lateral and Rotational Mobilities of Liposome Lipid Bilayers

        The aim of this study was to provide the basis to further examine the mode of action of ethanol. Fluorescent probes reported to have different membrane mobilities were used to evaluate the effect of dimyristoylphosphatidylethanol (DMPEt) on the lateral and rotational mobilities of liposome lipid bilayers. An experimental procedure, based on the selective quenching of 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene (DPH) and 1,3-di(1-pyrenyl)propane (Py-3-Py) by trinitrophenyl groups, was used. DMPEt increased the bulk lateral and rotational mobilities, and had a greater fluidizing effect on the outer than the inner monolayer. These effects of DMPEt on liposomes may be responsible for some, but not all, of the general anesthetic actions of ethanol.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the light three-dimensional surface roughness measuring machine for dental field. Method: Each of two, titanium, ceramic and resin rectangular plate (1x1x0.2 cm²), a total of six specimens were prepared. According to different surface treatment conditions, they were divided into two experimental groups, such as, 1) 50pm aluminum oxide sandblasting group and 2) high Polished group(#2000 silicone sandpaper). The surface roughness(Ra) of each specimens were measured by Form TalySurf series-2(Taylor-Hobson, USA), Accura,(Intek Engineering Co.,Korea), and SPM(Scanning Probe Microscope, Veeco Metrology Group, USA) and the results were compared. Results: Under the conditions of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: The surface roughness(Ra) of titanium, ceramic and resin specimens measured by different measuring device showed different results.

        Pharmacokinetics of Hydroxychloroquine and Its Clinical Implications in Chemoprophylaxis against Malaria Caused by Plasmodium vivax

        <B>ABSTRACT</B><P>Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an antimalarial drug used as chemoprophylaxis against malaria caused by <I>Plasmodium vivax</I> in the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA). In this study, we evaluated the pharmacokinetics (PK) of HCQ and its metabolites and the relationship between the PK of HCQ and the effect of treatment of HCQ on vivax malaria in South Koreans. Three PK studies of HCQ were conducted with 91 healthy subjects and patients with vivax malaria. Plasma concentrations were analyzed by noncompartmental and mixed-effect modeling approaches. A two-compartment model with first-order absorption best described the data. The clearance and the central and peripheral volumes of distribution were 15.5 liters/h, 733 liters, and 1,630 liters, respectively. We measured the plasma concentrations of HCQ in patients with prophylactic failure of HCQ and compared them with the prediction intervals of the simulated concentrations for HCQ from the final PK model built in this study. In 71% of the patients with prophylactic failure, the plasma concentrations of HCQ were below the lower bounds of the 95% prediction interval, while only 8% of them showed higher levels than the upper bounds of the 95% prediction interval. We report that a significant cause of prophylactic failure among the individuals in ROKA was ascribed to plasma concentrations of HCQ lower than those predicted by the PK model. However, prophylactic failure despite sufficient plasma concentrations of HCQ was confirmed in several individuals, warranting continued surveillance to monitor changes in the HCQ susceptibility of <I>Plasmodium vivax</I> in the Republic of Korea.</P>

      • 이중관 국소의치의 외관 제작기법에 관한 고찰

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate clinical usability of the outer crown fabrication methods for double crown retained RPD. Method: Three inner crowns with cone angles of 2 degrees, made of Co-Cr alloys, were prepared. According to different fabrication methods for outer crown, such as lost-wax, cast-on, and electroformed technique, three different outer crowns were fabricated. Using the universal testing machine (Tinius Olsen 1000, Tinius Olsen, USA), inner and outer crowns were connected under 5kgf, invested into clear resin blocκ half sectioned along the long axis of specimens and examined under light microscope. Results: Under the conditions of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1. The fitness between inner and outer crown using lost-wax technique was the poorest. Multiple casting porosity were observed at inside of the outer crown. 2. The inner and outer crown using cast-on technique were fused together. It is very difficult to find gap between the crowns and to remove inner crown from outer crown. 3. The electroformed outer crown was fabricated directly on the inner crown by using electroforming machine and showed very precise, even space between inner and outer crown. Conclusion: Under the conditions of this study, the electroforming system was the best method for the fabrication of outer crown of double crown retained RPD.

      • Abrasion Diagnosis and Assessment of Marine engine Using the Wavelet Transform

        Currently power of the diesel engine is increasing continuously, where the wearing problems become more severe. The wearing happens irregularly inside the cylinder, which causes a high burden to the marine engine. In this paper, a novel scheme to measure the wearing and to represent the engine states has been proposed. To monitoring the states of the marine engine efficiently, a laser displacement sensor has been utilized to measure the wearing happening inside the marine engine. To eliminate the noise signals in the distance measurement, the wavelet transform has been adopted, which is robust against the noises caused by vibrations. It is analyzed that Wavelet transform is more effective in eliminating noises than existing MAF(moving average filter) and measuring method that uses acoustical vibration. An engine simulator is designed to develop the system for measuring the engine wears, where the superiority of the wavelet transform against the conventional filtering schemes has been demonstrated.

      • Successful treatment of recurrent focal segmental glomerulosclerosis with a low dose rituximab in a kidney transplant recipient

        <P>Recurrence of focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a major therapeutic challenge in kidney transplantation (KT). Although intensive plasmapheresis and high-dose rituximab have been introduced to treat recurrent FSGS, the most effective dosage and regimen of rituximab have not been determined. Herein we reported the first case of successful treatment of recurrent FSGS with a low-dose rituximab. The patient showed marked proteinuria (3.5 g/d) and oliguria 2 d after KT. Two courses of plasmapheresis and immunoglobulin were applied to the patient, however, nephrotic range proteinuria persisted and creatinine level increased to 3.56 mg/dL. Five months post-transplant, the patient received injection with only one dose of rituximab 100 mg, without further plasmapheresis, which resulted in immediate reduction of serum creatinine and full remission of proteinuria during the following 18 months. This case suggested that recurrent FSGS, which frequently relapses after plasmapheresis, could be treated successfully with a low-dose rituximab even without plasmapheresis.</P>
