This study was conducted to evaluate the blood lead levels in 141 pregnant women who were not occupationally exposed to lead and their umbilical cord, and to identify some differences in blood lead levels by living area. The subjects were all delivered at St. Benedict Hospital in Pusan and the blood lead levels were measured by graphite furance atomic absorption spectrophotometer. The summarized results were as follows. 1. The geometric mean lead levels in maternal and cord blood were 8.0±1.8μg/dl, 5.0±0.6μg/dl respectively. 2. Lead levels in maternal(8.7±1.7μg/dl) and cord blood(5.4μ±0.7μg/dl) of industrial area(n=24) were higher than residential area(n=124) which were 7.9±1.7μg/dl and 5.0±0.6μg/dl respectively(p<0.05). 3. Maternal blood lead concentration was significantly correlated to cord blood lead concentration(r=0.6090, p<0.001), but other variables(maternal age, paternal smoking, birth weight, etc) were not correlated.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the performance effect of the Isokinetic training on shoulder strength javelin athletic one man case for this study was K.G.H, who is national team. The left and right shoulder muscle of the subject was trained for then weeks. Experimental measurement were conducted before training(pre), at the four weeks of training(mid) and ten weeks(past), respectively. The experiment factors investigated in this study were shoulder muscle strength, muscle power, angle of peak torque and degree ration to each angle. The follwing results were obtained from this study. 1) Right shoulder more improved the muscle strength extention 41 percent, flextion 24 percent, and left shoulder more improved extention 41 percent flextion 26 percent than befor training. 2) Right shoulder more improved the muscle extention power 32 percent, flextion power 32 percent, and left shoulder more improved extention power 24 percent, flextion power 43percent than befor training. 3) From the result of pre-test angels, peak-torque was exerted at 32 degree of the shoulder angle and about 34 percent of the maximum muscle strength decreased with unsmoothed pattern at 42 degree of the shoulder angle. The post-test after eight weeks training showed that the pear-torque occurred at 12 degree of the shoulder angle and the 50 percent of shoulder muscle strength decreased at the region of 156 degree.
폴리우레탄을 이용한 Thiobacillus sp. IW의 고정화

The immobilization of Thiobacillus sp. IW, the hydrogen sulfide removing bacterium, was studied by using the adsorption and physical capture methods. In the case of immobilization by the adsorption, the type, size, and amount of polyurethane foam were affected by the cell immobilization capacity of supporter. Among supporters, MC-70 was better immobilizing material. The optimum size and amount of polyurethane foam were 5∼8mm and 8g/L, respectively. In the case of immobilization by the physical capture, polyurethane foam could be prepared with the same ratio of modified MDI prepolymer, polyol, and medium with better condition. The optimum size and amount of polyurethane foam were 6∼7mm and 8g/L, respectively. Considering the cell immobilization capacity, the immobilization by physical capture was more effective than the immobilization by adsorption. The immobilization intensity by adsorption was 85% after shaking for 24hrs, whereas the immobilization by physical capture was 92% under the same condit

<P>To date, only a few nanosystems have been investigated as T1 MRI-CT dual contrast agents. The T1 MRI-CT dual functionality of a material depends on its longitudinal water-proton relaxivity (r1) and X-ray absorption strength. We explored Gd(IO3)3 center dot 2H2O nanomaterial because Gd is the most powerful element for T1 MRI contrast agents, and both Gd and I absorb X-ray radiation; Gd absorbs X-ray radiation ca. 2.5 times more strongly than I. D-Glucuronic acid coated Gd(IO3)3 center dot 2H2O nanomaterial showed a very large r1 of 52.3 s1mM1 (r2/r1 = 1.21), which could be ascribed to hydrated water molecules in the lattice. Its X-ray absorption intensity was also stronger than those of commercial molecular iodine CT contrast agents. This result clearly suggests that D-glucuronic acid coated Gd(IO3)3 center dot 2H2O nanomaterial is a potential T1 MRI-CT dual contrast agent.</P>
The influence of mixing between NH3 and NO for a De-NOx reaction in the SNCR process

The objective of this study was to determine the mixing effect on De-NOx in the selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) process using NH3 as a reductant. A bench scale reactor set-up was used to perform experimental investigations on the mixing in the SNCR process, using an injection of NH3, with or without an air injection, into the bulk gas. Mixing between NH3 and NO is a very important parameter, as are kinetic parameters, such as the NSR and reaction temperature. The type of NH3 with NO mixing method caused different De-NOx results, in which for the case of NH3 injected with air was more effective for NO reduction than under NH3 premixing conditions. For the case of air injection conditions, the NO reduction efficiency increased with increasing NSR, initial NO concentration, and retention time. The temperature for the maximum NO removal efficiency was 900 8C with ammonia premixing conditions, but was around 800 8C when ammonia was premixed and air was injected at the same time. That is, the optimization of the reductant mixing and injection conditions are very useful for improving the NO removal efficiency, as well as lowering the reaction temperature to that were optimal efficiency is observed. The optimum momentum ratio (J), which refers to the mixing characteristics, was found to be about 100 in this study.
Prevalence and antimicrobial susceptibility of Salmonella isolated from Korean slaughter pigs

During the period of December 2000 to November 2001, a total of 419(10.9%) Salmonella was isolated from 3,850 slaughtered pig samples(2,732 lymph nodes and 1,118 caecal contents) in Korea. Three hundred and seventy(13.5%) and 49(4.4%) Salmonella were isolated from lymph nodes and caecal contents, respectively. In the isolation ratio of Salmonella spp originated from each class of season, summer(15.7%), autumn(11.5%), spring(10.0%) and winter(8.3%), in order. As the result of serotyping, B group(67.5%) were the most common, in order of C1(14.6%), D1(6.0%), C2(4.1%) and E1(3.3%). 32 serovars were found, the major serotypes were as follows; S typhimurium(21.7%), S schwarzengrund(16.0%), S derby(15.8%), S typhimurium variant copenhagen(9.8%), S enteritidis(6.0%) and S mbandaka(6.0%). All of the isolates were susceptible to norfioxacin and ofloxacin. The isolates were resistant in order of doxycycline(69.2%), tetracycline(68.7%), penicliin(54.9%) and streptomycin(52.5%).
