Our previous works disclosed the contributing role of macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) and dopaminergic inhibition by lysine dimethyltransferase G9a/Glp complex in peripheral nerve injury-induced hypersensitivity. We herein propose that the proinflammatory cytokine MIF participates in the regulation of neuropathic hypersensitivity by interacting with and suppressing the descending dopaminergic system. The lumbar spinal cord (L-SC) and ventral tegmental area (VTA) are two major locations with significant upregulation of MIF after chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve, and they display time-dependent changes, along with a behavioral trajectory. Correspondingly, dopamine (DA) content shows the reverse characteristic change to MIF with a time-dependent curve in post-surgical behavior. The levels of both MIF and DA are reversed by the MIF tautomerase inhibitor ISO-1, and a negative relationship exists between MIF and DA. The reversed role of ISO-1 also affects tyrosine hydroxylase expression. Furthermore, CCI induces Th promoter CpG site methylation in the L-SC and VTA areas, and this effect could be abated by ISO-1 administration. G9a/SUV39H1 and H3K9me2/H3K9me3 enrichment within the Th promoter region following CCI in the L-SC and VTA was also decreased by ISO-1. In cultured dopaminergic neurons, rMIF enhanced the recruitment of G9a and SUV39H1, followed by an increase in H3K9me2/H3K9me3. These molecular changes correspondingly exhibited alterations in Th promoter CpG site methylation and pain behaviors. In summary, MIF functions as a braking factor in curbing dopaminergic descending inhibition in peripheral nerve injury-induced hypersensitivity by mediating Th gene methylation through G9a/SUV39H1-associated H3K9 methylation.
Trends in Scientific Literature on Atypical Antipsychotics in South Korea: A Bibliometric Study

Objective We have carried out a bibliometric study on the scientific publications in relation to atypical or second-generation antipsychotic drugs (SGAs) in South Korea. Methods With the EMBASE and MEDLINE databases, we selected those publications made in South Korea whose title included the descriptors atypic* (atypical*) antipsychotic*, second-generation antipsychotic*, clozapine, risperidone, olanzapine, ziprasidone, quetiapine, sertindole, aripiprazole, paliperidone, amisulpride, zotepine, asenapine, iloperidone, lurasidone, perospirone and blonanserin. We applied some bibliometric indicators of paper production and dispersion with Price's law and Bradford's law, respectively. We also calculated the participation index (PI) of the different countries, and correlated the bibliometric data with some social and health data from Korea (such as total per capita expenditure on health and gross domestic expenditure on research and development). Results We collected 326 original papers published between 1993 and 2011. Our results state fulfilment of fulfilled Price's law, with scientific production on SGAs showing exponential growth (correlation coefficient r=0.8978, as against an r=0.8149 after linear adjustment). The most widely studied drugs were risperidone (91 papers), aripiprazole (77), olanzapine (53), and clozapine (43). Division into Bradford zones yielded a nucleus occupied by the Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological Psychiatry (36 articles). A total of 86 different journals were published, with 4 of the first 10 used journals having an impact factor being greater than 4. Conclusion The publications on SGAs in South Korea have undergone exponential growth over the studied period, without evidence of reaching a saturation point.
COLOR REPRESENTATION OF TEXTILE FABRIC USING MULTISPECTRAL IMAGING TECHNOLOGY
L Luo,S J Shao,H L Shen,J H Xin 한국색채학회 2011 한국색채학회 학술대회 Vol.2011 No.10
As the normal colour measurement method of using a spectrophotometer is impossible to measure colours of multi-coloured textiles fabric samples such as color printing sample, and knitted samples using colored yams, color measurement method based on the multispectral imaging technique is a viable alternative. In this paper, we propose a new novel approach to represent the spectral colors of these textile samples. Firstly, the reflectance of captured image by a self-developed multispectral imaging system is recovered by the Wiener estimation method at each pixel spatial location. Secondly, a bilateral filter method is used to remove the signal dependent noise mainly caused by the imaged object during the imaging acquisition procedure. After that, an unsupervised tree structure is constructed to segment denoised image. Finally, all color regions are extracted from the segmented image of a multi-color printing sample to represent the dominant colors weighted with the segmented block size. In the case of representation of yam-dyed textile image, a K-mean clustering method is further used to extract the spectral colors of weft and warp yam, respectively.
Endocrine Disruptive Potentials in Surface Water Samples from Taihu Lake, Yangtze Delta
Shen, L.,Lin, G.F.,Shen, J.H. Korean Society of ToxicologyKorea Environmental Mu 2001 Toxicological Research Vol.17 No.-
Taihu Lake is a major water source for part of Yangtze Delta, which is one of the most urbanized and economically prosperous areas in China. In last couple of decades, some parts of the lake were highly polluted due to eutrophication. This study analyzed dioxin-like potential and mutagenic potential in surface water samples from Taihu Lake. The samples were prepared by XAD-2 resin procedure. A batch of biological assays, including dioxin-like potential microassay with the rat hepatocyte cell line H411E, and Ames test was employed in the research. Results showed that jour water samples have high content of dioxin-like biological potential, the highest activity TEQ to 2,3,7,8-TCDD was 48 pg/ι in sample 1. The mutagenic effect with reading-frame shifting mechanism was confirmed in 3 of 4 samples. The effective sewage treatment facilities and reliable monitoring surveillance system are urgently needed for this area.
Gradual electroforming and memristive switching in Pt/CuO<i>x</i>/Si/Pt systems
Wei, L L,Shang, D S,Sun, J R,Lee, S B,Sun, Z G,Shen, B G IOP Pub 2013 Nanotechnology Vol.24 No.32
<P>We report a memristive switching effect in Pt/CuO<I>x</I>/Si/Pt devices prepared by the rf sputtering technique at room temperature. Differently from other Cu-based metal filament switching systems, a gradual electroforming process, marked by a gradual increase of the device resistance and a gradual decrease of the device capacitance, was observed in the current–voltage and capacitance characteristics. After the gradual electroforming, the devices show a uniform memristive switching behavior. By Auger electron spectroscopy analysis, a model based on the thickness change of the SiO<I>x</I> layer at the CuO<I>x</I>/Si interface and Cu ion migration is proposed for the gradual electroforming and uniform memristive switching, respectively. This work should be meaningful for the preparation of forming-free and homogeneous memristive devices.</P>

<P>Conclusions: The proposed new learning-based registration method have tackled the challenging issues in registering infant brain images acquired from the first year of life, by leveraging the multi-output random forest regression with auto-context model, which can learn the evolution of shape and appearance from a training set of longitudinal infant images. Thus, for the new infant image, its deformation field to the template and also its template-like appearances can be predicted by the learned models. We have extensively compared our method with state-of-the-art deformable registration methods, as well as multiple variants of our method, which show that our method can achieve higher accuracy even for the difficult cases with large appearance and shape changes between subject and template images.
