        비선택적 결속과 다중전치 의문사구조

        Man-Kun Yoon. 1999. Unselective Binding and Multiple Wh-Fronting Construction. linguistics 7-3, 1-26. The first aim of this paper is to argue that any event in our world necessarily co-occur with four adverbials which can turn into four different wh-adjuncts; when, where, why and how. This paper further argues that this phenomenon is language universal. Second aim is that unselective binding applies only to wh-NPs, not wh-adjuncts, and hence covert raising is necessary for the checking of wh-adjuncts. Although wh-NPs can be interpreted in situ by unselective binding, case checking of wh-NPs requires covert or overt riasing of them. Third aim is that nominative wh-NPs can be checked by C and accusative wh-NPs by C^omax. Detailed explanations about the C^omax are provided in section 5 below. (Chongju University)

        流域의 環境保全을 고려한 합리적인 林道施工에 관한 硏究(Ⅰ) : 일본에 있어서 최근의 林道事業을 중심으로 Recently forest road conservation in Japan

        우리나라에서는 농업분야의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 일환으로 임도사업이 전국적으로 실시되고 있으나 임도개설에 따른 土砂流出 및 水質惡化 등의 환경문제가 대두되고 있다. 따라서 임도사업의 역사가 길고 자연환경 등이 우리나라와 유사한 일본에 있어서 임도분야의 연구방향, 임도개설유역의 환경영향평가 방법, 環境親和型 林道施工 및 연구방법에 대한 자료를 정리하였으므로 앞으로의 合理的인 流域管理와 親環境的 林道事業에 유용하게 사용될 것으로 생각된다. In our country, nation-wide forest road works are being carried out as one of the efforts to bolster the international competitiveness of agriculture, however such environmental problems as sediment discharge and water quality degradation accompany such efforts more often than not. Hence, in this research report. we compile and analyze the Japanese sources dealing with the 「research direction of the forest road construction」, 「environmental impact assessment upon the watershed of the forest road construction」 , 「environmentally-sound forest road construction and its research method」 in consideration of the fact that natural environment of Japan is similar to that of our country and Japanese forest road works has a long history. We hope that this report be useful to the reasonable watershed management and the environmentally-sound forest road works.

        As was mentioned in the above, every syntactic unit is being described in a binary blanching mode except the structures conjoined by "and" However, Zoerner (1995) made an attempt to describe it in a binary branching mode and we have to accept his notion of & P even though there are some problematic points in his argument It leads me to believe that both the argument that presented in (15) which has multiple NPs conjoined by "and" and the multiple subject construction (16) presented by Chomsky (1994; 41-42) can capture a generalization in that they can maintain "binary branching system" Further, (15) does not violate the Spec-Head Agreement condition in terms of a m-command structure and a logical point of view In these two points, (15) shows strong explanatory power than that of a traditional diagram (14a,b) The second point I have made is that the function of "and" which shows In surface structures is not the true function of It, but Its real function Is vicarious one. "and" takees over oyer the functions of V, N, Adj, Ady, P, T, C, etc according to different syntactic contexts which were demonstrated In the examples (21)-(26) The third argument that I presented here is that in the multiple subject object constructions and further the compound noun phrases conjoined by "and", each element should move in an independent way, even though these elements are contained in one XP If they are moved in one unit as a DP or a NP, then the checking head may be change form T to D or N as shown in (18b) above. Further (18b) may violate the ECP and an M-Command checking configuration

        First, the phonological systems and articulatory places of vowels have been for the most part described by the abstract Cardinal Vowel Systems of Daniel Jones. However, the articulatory places of vowels, which were identified by X-rays and. frequencies of formants are drastically different from those of Cardinal Vowel Systems. It is quite natural that such differences are noticed, because the speech organ of human beings is a semi-circled tube rather than a abstract square. Secondly, the feature dichotomy of generative phonology has provided good solutions in the description of vowels, but as diagram(16) shows, such binary system has lost its balance, because the number of vowels in [+back] and [-back] is not equal. Hence, my suggestion is that the mid-central vowels /i/, /??/ and /a/ should be assigned feature [neutral] so that the rest of vowels be arranged in a balanced system. Thirdly, in Korean vowel phonology, /으/ and /어/ described /i/ and /??/ respectively, but according to the frequencies of formants, it has been proved that such description is not valid: /으/ and /어/ should be described as /?/ and /?/ respectively. In spite of the such unreasonable points, if one wants to follow the system, one has to admit that the system ignores the correct identification of acticulatory points in order to organize a well-balanced phonological system. Finally, the articulatory place of /u/ in the frequency chart of formant shows that /u/ is located near the mid high area rather than in the back high area, and the real articulatory place of the /u/ is changeable according to the following phonological environment as was shown in diagram(26).

        林道斜面의 崩壞에 關한 硏究

        This study was conducted to find out the suitable gradient and length of the slope from the landslide of banking slope and cutting slope caused by rainfall. The survey was carried out on forest road built in 1986. And the period of survey was from June, 1989 to August, 1989 after dividing the forest road into A and B. The survey plots consisted of the 12 banking slopes and 6 cutting slopes. The results obtained from the study were summarized as follows; 1. The rate of landslide appeared 75% in A forest road, 50% in B forest road, and then the average 67% in A and B forest road. But the value of landslide showed considerably low. 2. Because of landslide chiefly occuring on banking slope of 36˚∼38˚ and on cutting slope of 42˚∼ 43˚, it is suitable to decide the banking slope and cutting slope below each 36˚and 40˚. 3. Landslide was the same on banking slopes through the length of slope. The best suitable length of slope is below 4m in cutting slope.

        Developmental anomalies of the aortic arch, commonly known as vascular rings, are relatively rare congenital vascular anomalies which can compress the trachea and esophagus. One routine chest film of a patient who was checked and hepatoma-diagnosed in Internal Medicine, Chosun University Hospital left the room for doubt of mediastinal mass. But no subjective symptoms for the mass was told by the patient. This is to report our experience of a patient having right side aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery, as proved by diagnosis, but none of congenital heart disease. This right side aortic arch with aberrant left subclavian artery is the most frequent type among right aortic arch, the anomaly of which is usually detected from the incidental suspicion for mediastinal mass at routine chest film; because no symptoms are accompanied therewith.

      • 각종 암종질환에서 혈청구리 및 아연농도의 변화에 관한 연구

        The copper and zinc concentrations were measured in sera of 27 cases of hepatoma, 20 cases of stomach ca., 7 cases of esophageal ca., 12 cases of colorectal ca., 9 cases of lung ca., 18 cases of ovarian ca. and 48 cases of normal control in Chosun University Hospital from Jan. 1986 to July 1986. The results are as follows; 1. The mean concentration of copper in serum of normal control group was 96.0±5.02㎍/㎗ (Mean±2SE), in hepatoma, stomach ca., esophageal ca., colorectal ca., lung ca. and ovarian ca. concentrations were significantly increased each 126.4+12.77, 125.6±11.29, 140.5±14.23, 117.3±11.91, 181.4±30.56 and 130.5±13.80㎍/㎗ (P < 0. 001) in comparison with the mean value of normal control group. 2. The mean concentration of zinc in serum of normal control group was 104.8±3.40㎍/㎗ (Mean±2SE), in hepatoma and lung ca. concentrations were significantly decreased each 65.1±7.27 and 72.7±12.86 ㎍/㎗ (P < 0. 00l). 3. The ratio of serum copper level to zinc level (Cu/Zn ratio) in serum of normal control group was 0.94±0.057 in hepatoma, stomach ca., esophageal ca., lung ca. and ovarian ca. concentration ratios were significantly increased each 2.09±0.324, 1.86±0.122, 1.50±0.114, 2.55±0.513 and 1.51±0. 243 (P < 0.001).

      • 食餌性 蛋白質이 體內 蛋白質代謝에 미치는 影響

        This study was designed to observe the absorptive states and metabolism in the body of dietary protein in the course of time after feeding. The experimental animals, 72 male rats, weighting 270-322 gm were fed with the diets containing isocaloric different level of protein, standard diet group (SD, 16% of protein), high protein diet group (HP, 25% of protein) and low protein diet group (LP, 7% of protein). The animals were fed with the corresponding diet for 10 days and were sacrificed according to schedule 1 hour, 3 hours and 6 hours after the final feeding. the total nitrogen, nonprotein nitrogen (NPN), amino acid nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid contents in the liver, kidney and serum were determined. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. In the liver, NPN contents of the HP group, creatinine contents of HP or LP group, and uric acid contents of SD group, are higher than any other group. As for the course of time after feeding, total nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid of each diet group are decreased at 3 hours and are increased at 6 hours. 2. In the kidney, at 1 hour after feeding, total nitrogen contents of SD group, amino aicd nitrogen contents of HP group, creatinine content of HP or LP group and uric acid contents SD or HP group show higher level than any other group. From 1 hour to 6 hours after feeding, creatinine and uric acid amounts tend to decrease, total nitrogen and amino acid nitrogen levels of LP group are hiher at 3 hours and lower at 6 hours, after feeding. 3. In the serum, at 1 hour after feeding, NPN, amino acid nitrogen and uric acid of HP group are greater in amount and at 3hours, total nitrogen, amino acid nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid contents of LP group are higher, than any other diet group, and at 6 hours, total nitrogen, NPN and amino acid nitrogen contents do not show any significant difference between SD and HP groups, and those of the LP group have lower level. It is considered from the above results that the diet with 16% protein is good for the metabolism in the body and is also economical, and that the protein in the high protein diet(25%) is not sufficiently utilized. And the metabolism in the body seems most active at 3 hours after feeding, and the low protein diet seems to be utilized in the body faster than the other diets.
