Superconducting Properties of a MgB2 Bulk Formed by Using a MgB4 + Mg Mixture

Kai Sin Tan,Chan-Joong Kim,전병혁 한국물리학회 2009 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.54 No.4

The superconducting properties of a MgB2 bulk formed by using a MgB4 + Mg mixture were studied. MgB4 powder was synthesized at 1000℃ for 5 hours in flowing Ar gas. The density of the MgB2 bulk formed by using this method was higher than that of the conventional MgB2 bulk formed by using a Mg + 2B mixture. However, lower J c values were observed, especially at low fields, due to the high amount of MgO and MgB4 present, thus decreasing the effective cross-sectional area and the connectivity of the samples. Although an enhancement of Hc2(T) was observed, the result showed no significant improvement in the Hirr(T). Synergy study on charge transport dynamics in hybrid organic solar cell: Photocurrent mapping and performance analysis under local spectrum

        Kai Jeat Hong,Sin Tee Tan,Kok-Keong Chong,리 호 뱅,Riski Titian Ginting,Fang Sheng Lim,Chi Chin Yap,Chun Hui Tan,Wei Sea Chang,Mohammad Hafizuddin Hj Jumali 한국물리학회 2018 Current Applied Physics Vol.18 No.12

Charge transport dynamics in ZnO based inverted organic solar cell (IOSC) has been characterized with transient photocurrent spectroscopy and localised photocurrent mapping-atomic force microscopy. The value of maximum exciton generation rate was found to vary from 2.6×1027m−3s−1 (Jsat=79.7 Am−2) to 2.9×1027m−3s−1 (Jsat=90.8 Am−2) for devices with power conversion efficiency ranging from 2.03 to 2.51%. These results suggest that nanorods served as an excellent electron transporting layer that provides efficient charge transport and enhances IOSC device performance. The photovoltaic performance of OSCs with various growth times of ZnO nanorods have been analysed for a comparison between AM1.5G spectrum and local solar spectrum. The simulated PCE of all devices operating under local spectrum exhibited extensive improvement with the gain of 13.3–13.7% in which the ZnO nanorods grown at 15 min possess the highest PCE under local solar with the value of 2.82%.

정(情)과 우리의식에 기반한 따뜻한 교육공동체의 구현 방안에 대한 연구

        정계숙(Chung Kai sook),박화춘(Park Hwa choon),구신실(Gu Sin sil),김효정(Kim Hyo jeong),박희경(Park Hee kyung),손환희(Son Hwan hee) 학습자중심교과교육학회 2018 학습자중심교과교육연구 Vol.18 No.14

This study aims to suggest that all the schools and communities, including early childhood education institutions and special education schools, need to implement a ddadeutan(warm) educational community that can embody Cheong(情) and Wooriuisik(weness), which are our unique emotional cognitive values, based on the viewpoints of life-giving, life-saving and the reverence of life. As such the purpose of this study is to present the argument how to establish and practice Cheong, Woori, and the reverence of life in the educational communities. First, we looked at what relationship existed between the life view of Korean traditional thought and Koreans’ community life as the theoretical basis of life-saving through a community. Next, the concepts of Cheong and Wooriuisik which are dissolved in the long-time community life of Koreans were examined and the ways to develop a ddadeutan educational community based on such concepts were explored. Finally, suggestions are presented to establish a warm educational community: 1) practices of ethics of Cheong and Wooriuisik should be established in educational communities, 2) rituals in schools should be developed for school members to implement ethics of Cheong and Wooriuisik, 3) symbols that can reflect the unique culture of an individual school, more opportunities of group play and food culture events to enjoy together, and encouragement of participation in various sub-communities such as a learning community. This study can be a basis necessary to develop and elaborate a practice model of a ddadeutan educational community by stimulating activities and programs for promoting the competency of educational communities members.

Cardiovascular Disease-related Health Beliefs and Lifestyle Issues Among Karen Refugees Resettled in the United States From the Thai-Myanmar (Burma) Border

        Kamimura, Akiko,Sin, Kai,Pye, Mu,Meng, Hsien-Wen The Korean Society for Preventive Medicine 2017 예방의학회지 Vol.50 No.6

Objectives: Refugees resettled in the US may be at risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). However, little is known about CVD-related issues among Karen refugees who have migrated to the US from the Thai-Myanmar border. The purpose of this study was to examine CVD-related health beliefs and lifestyle issues among Karen refugees resettled in the US. Methods: Karen refugees resettled in the US from the Thai-Myanmar border (n=195) participated in a survey study on health beliefs related to CVD, salt intake, physical activity (PA), and smoking in the fall of 2016. Results: A high-salt diet, physical inactivity, and smoking were major lifestyle problems. Participants who adhered to a low-salt diet considered themselves to be susceptible to CVD. Most participants did not engage in regular PA. Regular PA was associated with less perceived susceptibility to CVD and greater perceived benefits of a healthy lifestyle for decreasing the likelihood of CVD. Conclusions: Each refugee population may require individualized strategies to promote PA and a healthy diet. Future studies should develop health education programs that are specifically designed for Karen refugees and evaluate such programs. In addition to health education programs on healthy lifestyle choices, tobacco cessation programs seem to be necessary for Karen refugees. At the same time, it is important to foster strategies to increase the utilization of preventive care among this population by promoting free or reduced-fee resources in the community to further promote their health.

A Theory-Based, Technology-Assisted Intervention in a Hybrid Cardiac Rehabilitation Program for Patients with Coronary Heart Disease: A Feasibility Study

Chong Mei Sin,Sit Janet Wing Hung,Choi Kai Chow,Suhaimi Anwar,Chair Sek Ying 한국간호과학회 2023 Asian Nursing Research Vol.17 No.3

Purpose To assess the feasibility of a technology-assisted intervention in a hybrid cardiac rehabilitation program among patients with coronary heart disease. Methods This study was a two-arm parallel randomized controlled trial. Twenty-eight patients with coronary heart disease were randomly assigned to either the intervention group, receiving a 12-week technology-assisted intervention (n = 14), or the control group (n = 14), receiving usual care. Guided by the Health Belief Model, the intervention group received three center-based, supervised exercise training sessions, a fitness watch that served as a cue to action, six educational videos, and a weekly video call. The Self-efficacy for Exercise, exercise capacity, and Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II were assessed at baseline and immediately post-intervention (12-weeks). Results Among the 28 patients who participated in this study, 85.7% completed the program, with a relatively low attrition rate (14.3%). The number of exercise training sessions accomplished by the participants in the intervention group was 51.27 ± 19.41 out of 60 sessions (85.5%) compared to 36.46 ± 23.05 (60.8%) in the control group. No cardiac adverse events or hospitalizations were reported throughout the study. Participants in the intervention group showed greater improvement in health-promoting behaviors when compared with the control group at 12 weeks. Within-group effects demonstrated improvement in exercise self-efficacy and exercise capacity among participants in the intervention group. A participant satisfaction survey conducted immediately post-intervention revealed that participants were “very satisfied” (23.1%) and “satisfied” (76.9%) with the technology-assisted intervention. Conclusions The findings demonstrated that technology-assisted intervention in a hybrid cardiac rehabilitation program was feasible and suggested to be beneficial in improving exercise self-efficacy, exercise capacity, and health promoting behavior among patients with coronary heart disease. A full-scale study is needed to determine its effectiveness in the long term. Trial and protocol registration ClinicalTrials.gov NCT04862351. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04862351.

      • User Identification Design by Fusion of Face Recognition and Speaker Recognition

        Chao-Yu Lin,Kai-Tai Song,Yi-Wen Chen,Shuo-Cheng Chien,Sin-Horng Chen,Chen-Yu Chiang,Jyh-Her Yang,Yi-Chiao Wu,Tzu-Jui Liu 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10

Intelligent human-robot interface helps a mobile robot to extract external information and interact with a user. User identification information allows a robot to generate appropriate behaviors and make personalized human-robot interaction (PHRI) more natural and safe. Most of service robots move around in various application settings, and biometric features always change during relative movements. In this work, a fusion recognition system based on face and speaker classifiers is designed to achieve the user recognition in various environments. We propose a method to fuse face and speech recognition results based on the concept of confidence indices. Through the derived confidence indices, the system combines the two classifiers and gives improved recognition results. Experiments on a laboratory home service robot show that person recognition rates in 15 environmental situations all outperform those of using single modality.
