The output characteristics of a laser diode with external optical feedback were analyzed by numerical solutions of rate equations. The output power, phase and carrier density were plotted as a function of time. Dynamics of external cavity laser were investigated by the bifurcation diagram and the phase diagram with respect to the feedback rate k. If there was no feedback, relaxation oscillation reduced and laser showed stable output. For increasing feed back level, the number of stable state was increased. In very strong feedback rate above ??????, laser output showed extremely unstable and chaotic behavior.

Jung-Min Lee,Jae-Eui Cha,Young-Sil Yoon,Ahn-Heum Eom 한국균학회 2023 Mycobiology Vol.51 No.4
The aim of this study was to characterize a new fungal species, Acremonium conglutinatum, isolated from air samples collected in Wando, South Korea. Phylogenetic analysis based onthe internal transcribed spacer and large subunit regions revealed its unique position withinthe genus Acremonium. The isolated strain displayed distinct morphological characteristics, including ellipsoid or bent-ellipsoid conidia formed in clusters on the phialides. These featuresdifferentiate the new species from closely related species within the genus. This studydescribes the morphological and molecular characteristics of A. conglutinatum and emphasizesits phylogenetic relationships with other Acremonium spp. The identification of thisnovel species contributes to our understanding of the diversity and ecological role ofAcremonium.

Background: Dynamic left ventricular (LV) outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction (LVOTO) is not rarely observed in subjects without overt hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). However, its geometrical determinants and clinical implication have not been fully investigated. Method: We analyzed echocardiographic images diagnosed as dynamic LVOTO with Valsalva maneuver from 2008 to 2012 in a single tertiary referral hospital. Dynamic LVOTO was defined as trans-LVOT peak pressure gradient (PG) higher than 30 mmHg at resting or provoked by Valsalva maneuver without fixed structural stenosis. Exclusion criteria were patients with classical HCM, acute myocardial infarction, stress induced cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease and unstable hemodynamics which potentially induce transient-LVOTO. Results: Total 168 patients were studied. Mean age was 71±11 years and 98 were women. They were classified as “pure sigmoid septum” (n=75) defined as basal septal bulging but diastolic thickness less than 12 mm, “sigmoid septum with basal septal hypertrophy (≥12 mm)” (n=24), “prominent papillary muscle (PPM)” (n=20), defined by visually big papillary muscle which occludes LV cavity during systole and “small LV cavity with concentric remodeling” (n=49) groups. PPM group was younger, had higher S`, lower E/e` and left atrial volume index than the others. However, resting and Valsalva-induced LVOT PG were not different. In all groups, higher peak trans-LVOT PG was related to higher basal septal thickness (BST), E/e`, right atrial pressure (RAP) and pulmonary arterial systolic pressure (PASP). In multivariate analysis, resting trans-LVOT PG was correlated to PASP (ß=0.230, p=0.005) after adjustment for E/e`, BST and RAP. Conclusion: Dynamic LVOTO developed from various geometric changes, among them PPM group has distinct characteristics suggesting different etiology. LVOTO relieving medication might potentially reduce pulmonary pressure in this group of patients.

Background: Left atrial (LA) volume index (LAVI) has been shown to be related to prognosis in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). However, determinants of LAVI in early reperfused AMI patients were not clearly known. In this study we evaluated impact of extent of myocardial infarction and degree of non-infarcted myocardial fibrosis measured by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) on LAVI. Method: Seventeen early reperfused AMI patients underwent both contrast-enhanced CMR and echocardiography within a day after percutaneous coronary revascularization. Extent of myocardial infarction was measured by extent of late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and degree of non-infarcted left ventricular myocardial fibrosis was measured by post-contrast T1 value using T1 mapping. LAVI was measured from echocardiography using prolated-ellipsoidal method. Results: Mean age of the study patients was 52±12 years and sixteen were men. LAVI correlated to age (r=0.493, p=0.001), ratio of mitral inflow/tissue velocity (E/e`, r=0.605, p<0.001) and post-contrast T1 value of non-infarcted myocardium (r=-0.689, p=0.002) but not with extent of LGE. In multi-variable analysis, post-contrast T1 value significantly correlated to LAVI after adjustment of age and E/e` (β=-0.536, p=0.008). Conclusion: Degree of non-infarcted myocardial fibrosis measured by T1 mapping is an independent determinant of LAVI in patients with reperfused AMI.
Penicillium mexicanum : An Unrecorded Fungal Species Isolated from Air Samples Collected in Korea
Jung-Min Lee,Cha Jae-Eui,Yoon Young-Sil,Ahn-Heum Eom 한국균학회 2023 韓國菌學會誌 Vol.51 No.2
We report the first discovery of Penicillium mexicanum in Korea. Fungal strains were isolated from air samples collected in Taean-gun, Chungcheongnam-do, Korea. The strain was identified based on its morphological characteristics, as well as molecular phylogenetic analysis of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS), β-tubulin (BenA), and calmodulin (CaM) regions. This strain exhibited a high sequence similarity to the reference sequences of P. mexicanum. These findings enhance our understanding of fungal biodiversity in Korea and underscore the importance of continuous monitoring of fungal species.

AN ADAPTIVE IMAGE WAVELET-BASED WATERMARKING USING HVS AND SOM
Jung-Hee Lee,Young-Hee Lee,Eui-Young Cha 한국멀티미디어학회 2006 한국멀티미디어학회 국제학술대회 Vol.2006 No.-
In this paper, we propose an adaptive image wavelet-based watermarking with SOM(Self-organizing Map) neural networks, in which a pseudo-random sequence is embed into wavelet LL2 sub-band. The LL2 area is not suitable for embedding because of severe visual degradation. We overcome the degradation problem by embedding watermarks into visually insensitive locations using HVS and adapting suitable watermark strength and length using SOM. Experimental results show that our proposed method has good perceptual invisibility and robustness for various attacks. About two different watermark, we can know that the binary watermark sequence has more invisible and robust than a sequences of real random number with a normal distribution N(0, 1) in comparison about different watermark.

Cho, Eui-Sang,Cha, In-Tae,Park, Jung-Min,Choi, Hak-Jong,Lee, Jong Hun,Roh, Seong Woon,Cho, Eun-Ah,Kweon, Mee-Hyang,Nam, Young-Do,Seo, Myung-Ji Microbiology Society 2017 International journal of systematic and evolutiona Vol.67 No.10

A Gram-stain-negative, motile-by-gliding, aerobic, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped and yellow-pigmented bacterium was isolated from Salicornia herbacea in the Yellow Sea and designated as strain MBLN091(T). It belonged to the family Flavobacteriaceae. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of this isolated strain was similar to that of Flavimarina pacifica IDSW-73(T) with 94.8% similarity, and with 92.3-92.8 % similarities to those of other closely related species of the genus Leeuwenhoekiella. The similarities of the RNA polymerase subunit B gene between this strain and F. pacifica KCTC 32466(T) and Leeuwenhoekiella marinoflava DSM 3653(T) were 80.5 and 80.2 %, respectively. Growth of strain MBLN091(T) was observed in the presence of 0.5-15.0% (w/v) NaCl at 4-35 degrees C and pH 6.0-8.0, with optimal growth in the presence of 2.5-5.0% (w/v) NaCl at 20-25 degrees C and pH 7.0. This isolate was able to hydrolyse gelatin. The only respiratory quinone was MK-6. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified aminolipid and two unidentified lipids. Major fatty acids of the isolate were iso-C-15:0, summed feature 3 (C-16:1 omega 7c and/or C-16:1 omega 6c), iso-C-17:0 3-OH and iso-C-15:1 G. The genomic DNA G+C content was 39.6 mol%. The physiological features were closely related to F. pacifica. Therefore, strain MBLN091(T) is considered to represent a novel species within the genus Flavimarina, for which the name Flavimarina flava sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is MBLN091(T) (=KCTC 52527(T)=JCM 31731(T)).
