Successful hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) involves the restoration of hematopoietic function after engraftment, arising from the differentiation and proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells. Several factors could influence the course of allogeneic-HSCT (allo-HSCT). Therefore, knowledge of serum proteome changes during the allo-HSCT period might increase the efficacy of diagnosis and disease prevention efforts. This study conducted proteomic analyses to find proteins that were significantly altered in response to allo-HSCT. Sera from five representative patients who underwent allo-HSCT were analyzed by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry, and were measured on a weekly basis before and after allo-HSCT in additional 78 patients. Fourteen protein spots showing changes in expression were further examined, and most proteins were identified as acute phase proteins (APPs). Studies of 78 additional patients confirmed that C-reactive protein (CRP) and haptoglobin undergo expression changes during allo-HSCT and thus may have the potential to serve as representative markers of clinical events after allo-HSCT. Maximal CRP level affected the development of major transplant-related complications (MTCs) and other problems such as fever of unknown origin. Particularly, an increase in CRP level 21days after allo-HSCT was found to be an independent risk factor for MTC. Maximal haptoglobin and haptoglobin level 14 days after allo-HSCT were predictive of relapses in underlying hematologic disease. Our results indicated that CRP and haptoglobin were significantly expressed during allo-HSCT, and suggest that their level can be monitored after allo-HSCT to assess the risks of early transplant-related complications and relapse.
일본의 유전자원 접근 및 이익공유(ABS)에 관한 담론분석

2010년 유전자원 접근 및 이익공유(ABS)에 관한 사항을 정한 나고야의정서가 채택되었는데, 의정서에 자국 도시의 이름을 넣은 일본은 7년 후에야 의정서를 비준했다. 이 글에서는 나고야의정서 비준을 준비하며 일본이 취했던 대응을 관련 주요 행위자를 넷으로 나눈 후 각 행위자집단이 형성하는 담론을 분석함으로써, 일본 ABS 대응의 방향성을 예측하고자 하였다. 담론분석에서는 각 행위자의 담론 참여 동기와 담론에 대한 접근 시각에 중점을 두었다. 그 결과 모든 행위자들은 일본을 자원이용국으로 생각하고 업계 관계자의 원활한 유전자원 이용에 목표를 둔다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 환경성은 가급적 기존 관행을 유지하고자 하며 비용과 적용 범위, 책임을 최소화해 유전자원 이용자의 편의를 도모하였다. 시민사회는 산업계 및 학계 관계자들이 주된 행위자로 생물다양성 증진보다는 업계 이익에 더 관심을 보였다. 경제산업성과 JBA는 쌍방 이익 향유를 중시하면서도 타국 동향을 살펴 최대한 비준을 늦추는 태도를 보였다. 국가로서의 일본은 자원제공국 역량 강화에 방점을 두어 유전자원의 원활한 이용과 제공국의 호의적 태도, 국제사회에 공헌하는 일본의 이미지 형성을 모두 얻고자 하였다. 담론 구성에서 논쟁이 되었던 사안들은 나고야의정서 비준 후 일본의 ABS 지침에 반영되었는데, 비준 후에도 자원이용국으로서 손해를 보지 않으려는 태도가 주를 이뤘다. Nagoya Protocol ratification of Japan, the nation which has the city named Nagoya, took 7 years from the adoption of the Protocol. In this paper, we analyzed four key Japanese actor groups’ discourses that had been shaped while preparing the ratification of the Protocol and anticipated overall directions of response to ABS. The discourse analysis was conducted focusing on motivations and approaches taken by each actor group. Most discourses revealed that all actors considered Japan as a resource user country and paid attention to users’ smooth access to genetic resources. Ministry of the Environment prioritized maintaining existing practices as possible as it can and contributing to the users’ convenience with minimum responsibilities. Opinions of civil society were mainly given by actors from relevant industries and academic communities, and showed bigger interests in industrial profits than biodiversity enhancement. Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and Japan Bioindustry Association pursued sharing mutual advantage and maintained their stance on postponing the ratification as long as they could, following the trends of other countries’ response. Japan as a country placed emphasis on capacity building of providing countries. Its objective was to get smooth use of genetic resources and favorable attitude of providing country and to make an image of itself as a contributing country to the global society. Argumentative issues, such as retroactive application, were reflected in Japan’s ABS Guideline. After ratification of the Nagoya Protocol, discourse of Japan has focused on minimizing the loss as a user country.
TRANSACTIONS : Drape Evaluation of 3D Garment Simulations for Flared Skirts

The virtual try-on technologies of the current level have limitations with material expression as well as some difficulties with commercialization. There are differences in simulation results and subjective evaluations perceived by consumers according to the types and physical characteristics of materials used in virtual try-on simulations. This study were to analyze the exterior clothing shapes and visual images from 3D virtual try-on simulations with materials whose drapability was differentiated and then test the accuracy of the expression of the drapability of the materials. The study carried out 3D virtual try-on simulations by selecting flared skirts as an item to best express differences in drapability along with five materials of different physical properties and offered some basic data for greater utilization of virtual tryon simulations by comparing and analyzing them with the exterior shapes and visual images of actual flared skirts. The analysis results of hemline shapes between actual and virtual try-on according to the types of materials showed no match among the quantitative items of exterior shapes factors. There were no significant differences in the visual images except for “soft” according to the simulation methods, which means that the items can serve as part of a scale for visual image comparison. It is necessary to reflect quantitative numbers regarding “drapability” proposed in the study simulation software and to continue to build a systematic database for virtual simulations by investigating and testing various materials.

In a search for proteins involved in cancer metastasis, we analyzed proteomes of the human gastric cancer cell OCUM-2M and its metastatic subline OCUM-2MLN. We observed that aspartate aminotransferase (AAT), D-site binding protein (DBP), and anterior gradient protein 2 (AGR2) are differentially expressed in metastatic OCUM-2MLN cells. Measurement of protein expression in clinical samples indicated that DBP and AAT are also down-regulated in metastatic adenocarcinoma. Additionally, uro-kinase-type tissue plasminogen activator is up-regulated in OCUM-2MLN cells and also in metastatic gastric cancer samples. Collectively, these results raise a possibility that AAT, DBP and AGR2 are functionally implicated in the invasiveness of gastric cancer cells.
