Study on Enterprise Value and Asset Structure Optimization of the Iron and Steel Industry in China under Carbon Reduction Strategy

Hong Hong ZHU,Yue Yao SUN,Jin Bao LI 한국유통과학회 2022 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.9 No.3

The iron and steel sector is caught between two worlds: “carbon reduction” and “development.” The goal of this study is to show that optimizing asset structure to boost intangible assets, particularly brand assets, is a viable strategy to achieve low-carbon development. This study uses panel data from 38 A-share companies in China’s iron and steel industry from 2010 to 2020, as well as World Brand Lab data, to create a comprehensive impact index of enterprise value from the standpoint of an asset structure optimization, and to test the impact of intangible assets and brand equity on enterprise value. The findings show that: the asset structure of iron and steel enterprises is closely related to enterprise value, implying that iron and steel industry development necessitates a transformation of quantity control and quality improvement; the proportion of intangible assets in the asset structure of iron and steel enterprises plays a positive and critical role in enterprise value under surplus conditions. The iron and steel industry begins to shift from tangible to intangible assets; there is heterogeneity in the iron and steel industry transformation. Given certain technological levels, the share of brand assets contributes significantly to the increase in enterprise value.

An optical fibre monitoring system for evaluating the performance of a soil nailed slope

        Hong-Hu Zhu,Albert N.L. Ho,Jian-Hua Yin,H.W. Sun,Hua-Fu Pei,Cheng-Yu Hong 국제구조공학회 2012 Smart Structures and Systems, An International Jou Vol.9 No.5

Conventional geotechnical instrumentation techniques available for monitoring of slopes, especially soil-nailed slopes have limitations such as electromagnetic interference, low accuracy, poor longterm reliability and difficulty in mounting a series of strain sensors on a soil nail bar with a small-diameter. This paper presents a slope monitoring system based on fibre Bragg grating (FBG) sensing technology. This monitoring system is designed to perform long-term monitoring of slope movements, strains along soil nails, and other slope reinforcement elements. All these FBG sensors are fabricated and calibrated in laboratory and a trial of this monitoring system has been successfully conducted on a roadside slope in Hong Kong. As part of the slope stability improvement works, soil nails and a toe support soldier-pile wall were constructed. During the slope works, more than 100 FBG sensors were installed on a soil nail, a soldier pile, and an in- place inclinometer. The paper presents the layout and arrangement of the instruments as well as the installation procedures adopted. Monitoring data have been collected since March 2008. This trial has demonstrated the great potential of the optical fibre monitoring system for long-term monitoring of slope performance. The advantages of the slope monitoring system and experience gained in the field implementation are also discussed in the paper.

A Vitis vinifera xanthine dehydrogenase gene, VvXDH, enhances salinity tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis

        Shuang-Hong You,Bo Zhu,Feibing Wang,Hong-Juan Han,Miao Sun,Hengweng Zhu,Ri-he Peng,Quan-Hong Yao 한국식물생명공학회 2017 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.11 No.3

Xanthine dehydrogenase (EC1.1.1.204; XDH) plays an important role in purine catabolism that catalyzes the oxidative hydroxylation of hypoxanthine to xanthine and of xanthine to uric acid. Long attributed to its role in recycling and remobilization of nitrogen, recently, XDH is implicated in plant stress responses and acclimation, such research efforts, however, have thus far been restricted to Arabidopsis XDH-knockdown/knockout studies. This study, using an ectopic overexpression approach, is expected to provide novel findings. In this study, a XDH gene from Vitis vinifera, named VvXDH, was synthesized and overexpressed in Arabidopsis, the transgenic Arabidopsis showed enhanced salt tolerance. The VvXDH gene was investigated and the results demonstrated the explicit role of VvXDH in conferring salt stress by increasing allantoin accumulation and activating ABA signaling pathway, enhancing ROS scavenging in transgenic Arabidopsis. In addition, the water loss and chlorophyll content loss were reduced in transgenic plants; the transgenic plants showed higher proline level and lower MDA content than that of wild-type Arabidopsis, respectively. In conclusion, the VvXDH gene has the potential to be applied in increasing allantoin accumulation and enhancing the tolerance to abiotic stresses in Arabidopsis and other plants.

Expression of the Arabidopsis vacuolar H+-pyrophosphatase gene AVP1 in peanut to improve drought and salt tolerance

        Huaqin Sun,Qiang Gu,Sundaram Kuppu,Li Sun,Xunlu Zhu,Neelam Mishra,Rongbin Hu,Guoxin Shen,Junling Zhang,Yizheng Zhang,Longfu Zhu,Xianlong Zhang,Mark Burow,Paxton Payton,Hong Zhang 한국식물생명공학회 2013 Plant biotechnology reports Vol.7 No.3

The Arabidopsis gene AVP1 encodes an H?-pyrophosphatase that functions as a proton pump at thevacuolar membranes, generating a proton gradient acrossvacuolar membranes, which serves as the driving force formany secondary transporters on vacuolar membranes suchas Na?/H?-antiporters. Overexpression of AVP1 couldimprove drought tolerance and salt tolerance in transgenicplants, suggesting a possible way in improving drought andsalt tolerance in crops. The AVP1 was therefore introducedinto peanut by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Analysis of AVP1-expressing peanut indicated that AVP1-overexpression in peanut could improve both droughtand salt tolerance in greenhouse and growth chamberconditions, as AVP1-overexpressing peanuts producedmore biomass and maintained higher photosynthetic ratesunder both drought and salt conditions. In the field, AVP1-overexpressing peanuts also outperformed wild-type plantsby having higher photosynthetic rates and producing higheryields under low irrigation conditions.

The structures of the new compounds were determined based on extensive spectral analyses, including 1D (1H and 13C) and 2D NMR experiments (COSY, NOESY, HSQC, 2D TOCSY, HSQC-TOCSY and HMBC), HR-ESI-MS and chemical methods. Compounds 1–18 were evaluated for their protective effects against anoxia/reoxygenation-induced apoptosis in H9c2 cells and cytotoxicities against murine mammary carcinoma cell line 4T1. Compounds 8, 9 and 18 exhibited significant protective effects, while compound 1 exhibited cytotoxic activity with IC50 value of 7.4 μm compared to 7.6 μm for the positive control 10-hydroxycamptothecin.

      • Compatibility of pesticides with Beauveria bassiana to control two-spotted spider mite Tetranychus urticae

        Yujin Song,Jeong Jun Kim,Hong Zhu,Jang Sun Suh 한국응용곤충학회 2011 한국응용곤충학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.2011 No.05

Two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae (Koch) is one of the serious pests in economically important crops such as strawberry and cucumber and so on. Acaricides have been used as the main control agents. This study was conducted to test the synergistic effects of the Beauveria bassiana GHA, which has been registered for whitefly and thrips, and five pesticides (abamectin, acrinathrin, bifenthrin imidacloprid, dinotefuran, and indoxacarb, which are commonly used pesticides in strawberry in Korea), on the two-spotted spider mite T. urticae. Five tested pesticides did not inhibit spore germination and mycelial growth of B. bassiana. Pesticides were applied to potted strawberry plants at four different treatments (recommended concentration, 1/5 recommended concentration, 1/5 recommended concentration + GHA(108 conidia/ml), and only GHA(108 conidia/ml). Mortality in larvae of two-spotted spider mite was 12% in GHA 5 day after treatment. Mortality in abamectin treated T. urticae was 98.5% and 100% at 1/5 recommended concentration and recommended concentration, respectively, 3 days after treatment. Acrinathrin, indoxacarbe, dinotefuran and difenthrin imidacloprid caused 60%, 14%, 16% and 91% mortality at recommended concentration 5 day after treatment. The tested five pesticides and B. bassiana GHA had no synergistic effect.

Genome-wide analyses reveal the extent of opportunistic STAT5 binding that does not yield transcriptional activation of neighboring genes

        Zhu, Bing-Mei,Kang, Keunsoo,Yu, Ji Hoon,Chen, Weiping,Smith, Harold E.,Lee, Daeyoup,Sun, Hong-Wei,Wei, Lai,Hennighausen, Lothar Oxford University Press 2012 Nucleic acids research Vol.40 No.10

Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription (STAT) 5A/B regulate cytokine-inducible genes upon binding to GAS motifs. It is not known what percentage of genes with GAS motifs bind to and are regulated by STAT5. Moreover, it is not clear whether genome-wide STAT5 binding is modulated by its concentration. To clarify these issues we established genome-wide STAT5 binding upon growth hormone (GH) stimulation of wild-type (WT) mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) and MEFs overexpressing STAT5A more than 20-fold. Upon GH stimulation, 23 827 and 111 939 STAT5A binding sites were detected in WT and STAT5A overexpressing MEFs, respectively. 13 278 and 71 561 peaks contained at least one GAS motif. 1586 and 8613 binding sites were located within 2.5 kb of promoter sequences, respectively. Stringent filtering revealed 78 genes in which the promoter/upstream region (−10 kb to +0.5 kb) was recognized by STAT5 both in WT and STAT5 overexpressing MEFs and 347 genes that bound STAT5 only in overexpressing cells. Genome-wide expression analyses identified that the majority of STAT5-bound genes was not under GH control. Up to 40% of STAT5-bound genes were not expressed. For the first time we demonstrate the magnitude of opportunistic genomic STAT5 binding that does not translate into transcriptional activation of neighboring genes.

      • Suppression of Cellular Apoptosis Susceptibility (CSE1L) Inhibits Proliferation and Induces Apoptosis in Colorectal Cancer Cells

        Zhu, Jin-Hui,Hong, De-Fei,Song, Yong-Mao,Sun, Li-Feng,Wang, Zhi-Fei,Wang, Jian-Wei Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

The cellular apoptosis susceptibility (CSE1L) gene has been demonstrated to regulate multiple cellular mechanisms including the mitotic spindle check point as well as proliferation and apoptosis. However, the importance of CSE1L in human colon cancer is largely unknown. In the present study, we examined expression levels of CSE1L mRNA by semiquantitative RT-PCR. A lentivirus-mediated small interfering RNA (siRNA) was used to knock down CSE1L expression in the human colon cancer cell line RKO. Changes in CSE1L target gene expression were determined by RT-PCR. Cell proliferation was examined by a high content screening assay. In vitro tumorigenesis was measured by colony-formation assay. Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis were detected by flow cytometric analysis. We found CSE1L mRNA to be expressed in human colon cancer cells. Using a lentivirus based RNAi approach, CSE1L expression was significantly inhibited in RKO cells, causing cell cycle arrest in the G2/M and S phases and a delay in cell proliferation, as well as induction of apoptosis and an inhibition of colony growth capacity. Collectively, the results suggest that silencing of CSE1L may be a potential therapeutic approach for colon cancer.

Model Parameters Online Identifi cation and SOC Joint Estimation for Lithium-Ion Battery Based on a Composite Algorithm

        Hong-Yu Long,Cheng-Yong Zhu,Bi-Bin Huang,Chang-hao Piao,Ya-Qing Sun 대한전기학회 2019 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.14 No.4

The purpose of this paper is to discuss how to solve the problem of on-line identifi cation of model parameters of Li-ion battery and on-line estimation of SOC. Based on the matlab/simulink platform, a fi rst-order RC equivalent circuit model of the battery is built, and a joint estimation algorithm of the model parameters and SOC of the lithium ion battery is designed based on the dynamic model, which is compared with the single adaptive Kalman fi lter algorithm (AEKF). The simulation results show that the proposed joint estimation algorithm can make eff ective online estimation and update of the battery model parameters and SOC. The average estimation error of SOC is less than 2.8%, the estimation accuracy is higher than that of adaptive Kalman fi lter, and its robustness level is relatively high.
