Cytolytic Activities of Taxol on Neural Stem Cells

Stem cells have been the subject of increasing scientific interest because of their utility in numerous biomedical applications. Stem cells are capable of renewing themselves; that is, they can be continuously cultured in an undifferentiated state, giving rise to more specialized cells of the human body. Therefore, stem cells are an important new tools for developing unique, in vitro model systems to test drugs and chemicals and a potential to predict or anticipate toxicity in humans. In the present study, in vitro cultured F3 immortalized human neural stem cell line and in vivo adult Sprague Dawley rats was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of anticancer drug paclitaxel. In vitro apoptotic activity of paclitaxel was evaluated in F3 cell line by a MTT assay and DAPI test. The cell death was induced with the treatment of 20 nM paclitaxel and chromatin degradation was detected by DAPI staining, which was analyzed by fluorescent microscope. In vivo studies, we also observed nestin immunoreactivity on subventricular zone, which is stem cell rich region in the adult brain of the SD rat. Immunofluorescent staining result shows that pixel intensities of nestin were decreased in a dose dependent manner. These results suggest that paclitaxel is able to induce cytotoxic activity both in F3 neural stem cell line and neural stem cell in SD rat brain.

This paper was studied the variations of x-ray diffraction pattern and texture under equibiaxial stretching in various sheet metals. After the equibiaxial stretching, (200) plane is developed well in FCC structure materials, but is not changed in BCC structure material, and all materials having preferred oriention have changed to planar isotropic sheets.
Saturable sinusoidal uptake is rate-determining process in hepatic elimination of docetaxel in rats

<OL><LI><P>Identifying kinetic determinants of hepatic elimination of drugs would be crucial for better understanding its pharmacokinetics and predicting drug interactions. Present study investigated the kinetics of sinusoidal uptake of docetaxel and its impact on the overall hepatic elimination of docetaxel in rats.</P></LI><LI><P>The non-renal clearance (CL<SUB>NR</SUB>; hepatic elimination) of docetaxel were significantly reduced by co-administration of intravenous rifampicin, a potent inhibitor of organic anion transporting peptides (OATPs; Oatps), at a dose of 20 mg/kg. Docetaxel uptake into isolated rat hepatocytes was found to be temperature/concentration/energy-dependent, saturable, and reduced by Oatps inhibitors (rifampicin and bromosulfophthalein). Moreover, docetaxel uptake into perfused rat liver was significantly reduced in the presence of 10-µM rifampicin. However, docetaxel metabolism in rat hepatic microsome was not affected by rifampicin at less than 50 µM.</P></LI><LI><P>Based on the comparison of intrinsic clearances related to hepatic clearance, it can be suggested that sinusoidal uptake could be the rate-determining process in the overall hepatic elimination of docetaxel in rats.</P></LI></OL>

Objectives : Carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2</sub>) laser, a high power laser has been used for pain management, dermatology, and surgery and laser acupuncture and moxibustion as well, since it had been oscillated in 1964 at Bell Telephone Laboratories in the US. The purpose of this study is to investigate the history of CO<sub>2</sub> laser acupuncture through reviewing studies published in early stage of laser medicine. Methods : To investigate the early history of CO<sub>2</sub> laser acupuncture, studies were searched in the electronic databases, including PubMed, ScienceDirect, CNKI, Wanfang, J-STAGE, CiNii, KTNP, and OASIS, since 1964. Articles in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean were included, and there were no limitations in literature types such as reviews, essays, clinical trials, animal experiments and veterinary research. Results : We found that the first CO<sub>2</sub> laser application to acupoints was done by a research team in Shanghai in 1976. They used CO<sub>2</sub> laser for acupuncture treatment and it was also the first laser acupuncture treatment in China. Since the first case report of CO<sub>2</sub> laser for leukopenia, it has been applied to various diseases in China, Korea, Japan and other western countries. It has been widely applied in the fields of dentistry and veterinary medicine, as well as clinical applications. Conclusions : Not only CO<sub>2</sub> laser can be used as laser acupuncture by stimulating the acupoints and meridians, but also can produce moxibustion effect by using heat stimulus. Therefore, it is expected that it will be used in various clinical fields in the future.
신경망과 다속성 의사결정 기법을 이용한 일정관리 휴리스틱의 선택

This paper presents an approach for classifying scheduling problems and selecting a heuristic rule to yield best solution in terms of certain performance measure(s). Classification parameters are employed from previous studies on job shop scheduling and project scheduling. Neural network is used for leaning and estimating the performances of heuristic rules. In addition, multi-criteria decision making techniques are employed to combine the preferences for each performance measure and heuristic rule for the problems with multi-objectives.

세계적으로 사이버공간에 대한 의존도가 높아지고 국가 배후 사이버공격이 증가하면서 사이버안보가 점차 중요해지고 있다. 특히 방위산업의 경우 국가안보와 밀접하게 연관되어 있을 뿐 아니라 최근 우리의 첨단 국방기술을 탈취하려는 사이버공격이 급증하고 있다는 점에서 더욱 철저한 보호가 필요하다. 사이버공격에 효과적으로 대비하려면 국가차원에서 공공과 민간을 아우르는 포괄적인 대응체계를 수립해야하고, 이를 위해서는 사이버안보법이 필수적이다. 이에 우리나라에서도 2006년부터 10여 차례 사이버안보법이 발의되었으나 번번이 폐기되었다. 본 연구는 사이버공격의 특성과 선행연구 등을 종합하여 사이버안보법이 갖춰야 할 6가지 요건을 제시한다. 이는 사이버공간에 대한 국가안보적 접근, 사이버안보 전담 기관 설치, 사이버안보 유관 기관 간 정보 공유, 지속적인 사이버안보 역량 강화, 국민 기본권 침해 방지 및 국민 참여 유도, 사이버안보 관련 개념 구체화 등이다. 이러한 요건을 토대로 현재 입법 추진 중인 법안들을 평가하고, 바람직한 사이버안보법 제정 방안을 제안한다. 이러한 연구를 통해 국가안보와 방위산업을 효과적으로 보호할 수 있는 사이버안보법이 조속히 제정되는 데 기여하고자 한다. With the continuous development of modern society and economy, the people in the new era have greater aspirations for a better life. Tourism has become a kind of people's spiritual pursuit for a better life. At the same time, with the improvement of people's living standard and the change of consumption concept, the number of people who travel on ice and snow in winter and like ice and snow sports is increasing year by year. Under such an opportunity, the development and utilization of snow and ice resources has been the focus of the central and local governments for many years. The rapid development of our ice and snow industry is supported by the policies of the central and local governments. However, behind the rapid development of ice and snow industry, there are a series of problems and deficiencies that need to be solved urgently. The development of the snow and ice industry should be protected from several aspects--such as: the development and protection of snow and ice resources in accordance with the law, the establishment and improvement of laws and regulations for the development of the mass snow and ice industry, the clarification of the legal status of snow and ice resources, the improvement of the diversified dispute settlement mechanism, and the increase of citizen participation--so that the development and protection of snow and ice resources can achieve a win-win goal of economic and social benefits.
