        Effects of neutron irradiation on ferroelectric properties of P(VDF-TrFE) thin films

        A neutron beam, generated from a proton beam with an energy of 26.5 MeV, is used to modify the polymer films annealed at different temperatures, and the effects of neutron irradiation on the crystallinity and ordering of the polymer chains and hence the ferroelectric properties of the films are analyzed. The ferroelectric properties are characterized using piezoresponse force microscopy and polarization-voltage measurements. A comparison of the non-irradiated and irradiated P(VDF-TrFE) films shows that the remnant polarization of the irradiated films increases to 17% owing to the microstructural changes induced in them.

        Comparative Analysis of the Effects of Intrinsic and Extrinsic Self-Affirmation on Self-Stigma

        Self-affirmation intervention is the active affirmation of some critical aspect of one’s self-concept. It can be categorized into either intrinsic or extrinsic self-affirmation, depending on the contingencies of the sources of the affirmed self. Sixty-two participants were randomly assigned to either an intrinsic self-affirmation (ISA) or extrinsic self-affirmation (ESA) intervention group. ISA intervention was designed to self-affirm outside of socially imposed standards, whereas ESA intervention was designed to encourage the participant to bolster the self through external sources. The total duration of the activity for the interventions lasted approximately twenty minutes. Afterwards, as part of the study, all participants received psychologically threatening messages. Self-stigma toward counseling was measured once before self-affirmation and once after receiving the threatening message. Results showed that ISA intervention reduced self-stigma, while ESA intervention increased its occurrence. As a result, the study calls for more specific guidelines on how to incorporate self-affirmations to clinical interventions. Further implications and possible future research directions are discussed.

        대학생의 비대면 청소년 멘토링 경험에 대한 탐색적 연구

        본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 상황에서 취약계층 청소년 대상 비대면 멘토링에서 멘토가 한 경험을 탐색하여 개선점을 도출하고, 향후 비대면 멘토링을 보완하기 위한 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 연구 문제는 비대면 멘토링을 통해 한 대학생 멘토의 긍정적 및 부정적 경험은 무엇이었고, 부정적 경험에 대처하기 위해 시도한 방안 무엇이었는가이다. 연구를 위해 비대면 멘토링에 멘토로 참여한 대학생을 대상으로 서술형 질문지를 발송하고 일반적이고 포괄적인 인식을 확인하기에 적합한 도구인 수정된 합의적 질적 연구방법(CQR-M)을 활용하여 응답 결과를 분석하였다. 총 72명의 대학생 멘토가 연구에 참여하였으며 연구 결과 10개 영역과 30개 범주가 도출되었다. 멘토의 긍정적 경험에는‘온라인 환경의 유용성’,‘개인적 성장’,‘긍정적 관계 경험’, 부정적 경험에는‘비대면 멘토링 진행 환경 조성 곤란’,‘멘티와의 관계 형성 한계’,‘비대면 멘토링 진행 시 난관’의 각각 3개 영역이 확인되었다. 또한 부정적 경험에 대한 대처 및 노력에는‘원활한 비대면 멘토링을 위한 사전 준비’,‘효과적인 비대면 멘토링 진행을 위한 방법 모색’,‘비대면 상황의 관계 형성 한계를 극복하기 위한 시도’,‘외부 자원 활용’의 4개 영역이 도출되었다. 연구 결과를 토대로 비대면 멘토링 개선 방안을 제시하였다. The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of mentors in non-face-to-face mentoring programs for vulnerable children and adolescents in COVID-19 pandemic circumstances to derive improvements and provide basic data to supplement non-face-to-face mentoring in the future. The research question is what the positive and negative experiences of a college student mentor through non-face-to-face mentoring were, and what measures were attempted by the mentors to cope with the negative experiences. For the study, the response results were analyzed using a Modified Consensus Qualitative Research Method (CQR-M), an appropriate tool to send descriptive questionnaires to college students who participated in non-face-to-face mentoring as mentors and to confirm general and comprehensive perceptions. A total of 72 college student mentors participated in the study, and as a result of the study, 10 areas and 30 categories were derived. In the positive experiences of mentors, 'usefulness of online environment', 'personal growth', 'positive relationship experience', and in the negative experiences, 'difficulty in creating an environment for non-face-to-face mentoring', 'limit of relationship formation with mentees', and 'difficulties in non-face-to-face mentoring' were identified. In addition, four areas were identified in response and effort to negative experiences; 'pre-preparation for smooth non-face-to-face mentoring', 'finding ways to proceed with effective non-face-to-face mentoring', 'attempt to overcome the limitations of relationship formation in non-face-to-face situations', and 'external resource utilization'. The research results suggest plans to improve non-face-to-face mentoring.

        쌍방향 온라인 과학수업에서 교사의 클라우드 앱 활용 실태와 인식 조사

        목적 본 연구에서는 쌍방향 온라인 과학수업에서 클라우드 앱을 활용한 경험이 있는 교사들을 대상으로 활용 실태와 인식 조사를 하여 클라우드 앱의 교육적 효과와 한계에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 관련 경험이 있는 10명의 초, 중, 고등학교 교사를 연구참여자로 목적 표집하였다. 연구참여자들이 실제로 수업에 활용한 교수⋅학습 자료를 수집하고 설문 조사와 면담을 실시하였다. 결과 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구참여자가 쌍방향 온라인 과학수업에서 클라우드 앱을 활용한 방식은 7가지 유형으로 나뉘었다. 둘째, 연구참여자들은 클라우드 앱을 활용하였을 때 수업 구성원 간의 상호 작용이 증가한 경향이 있다고 하였다. 셋째, 클라우드 앱이 교사가 학생에게 피드백을 제시하는 데에 긍정적인 기능을 한다는 의견과 그렇지 않다는 의견이 공존하였다. 넷째, 연구참여자 전부 과제 수합에 클라우드 앱을 활용하였으며, 일부는 형성평가에 활용하였을 때 특히 만족도가 높았던 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 일부 교사는 비대면 실험 수업에 클라우드 앱을 활용하였는데 이 수업 방식을 새로운 비대면 실험 수업 모델로 발전시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 결론 교사가 클라우드 앱의 기능을 적절히 활용하게 된다면 시간과 에너지의 효율이 높은 온라인 수업을 설계 할 수 있게 되고, 학생과의 상호작용 및 학생의 학습진단 기회가 늘어 현행 온라인 수업이 가진 한계점을 일부 개선할 것으로 기대한다. Objectives The purposes of this study were to investigate teaching practices and opinions of teachers about using Cloud apps in interactive online science class. Methods I selected 10 teachers who work an elementary, middle school and highschool as research participants. I collected and analyzed the teaching and learning data that research participants actually used in class. Based on the analysis, surveys and interviews were conducted. Results The studies showed the following characteristics. First, the method of using Cloud apps could be classified into 7 types. Second, research participants said that interactions among teacher-student, student-student tend to increase when using Cloud apps. However, there are opinions that Cloud apps have a positive effect on teacher’s feedback and also have a negative effect. Third, all research participants used Cloud apps to check homework and they were particularly satisfied when they used it for formative evaluation. Fourth, some teachers used Cloud apps for online experimental classes. And I expect that experimental classes with Cloud apps can be an alternative to the non-face-to-face experimental class model. Conclusions If teachers properly use the Cloud apps, they will be able to design a time and energy efficient instruction. And I expect that using Cloud apps improve some of the limitations of online class by increasing student interactions and student learning diagnosis opportunities.

        Six-week Open-label Trial of Topiramate to Treat Disruptive Behaviors in Children and Adolescents with or without Mental Retardation

        Objective: Anticonvulsants are known to be effective to manage affective instability and aggressive behavior by reducing neuronal excitability. This study examined the efficacy and safety of topiramate, a novel anticonvulsant, on disruptive behavioral problems in children and adolescents, with or without mental retardation (MR), and the differences of short-term efficacy and safety according to the IQ levels. Methods and Materials: Fifty-four children and adolescents with disruptive behavioral problems were enrolled in a 6- week, open-label study. All subjects were divided into 3 groups (subjects without MR, Non-MR; subjects with mild MR, Mild MR; and subjects with moderate to severe MR, Mod-Severe MR) based on their intellectual ability, and treated with topiramate. Outcome measures included the Aberrant Behavior Checklist Hyperactivity (ABC-H) and Irritability (ABC-I) subscales and the Clinical Global Impression Severity (CGI-S) scale. Results: Significant reduction of CGIS, ABC-H, and ABC-I scores were noted in all three groups in the following order: Non-MR, Mild MR, and Mod-Severe MR. Parethesia, anorexia, somnolence, nocturnal enuresis, and urinary frequency were relatively common adverse event. However, no serious adverse events were reported. Conclusions: Topiramate was effective and well tolerated for managing disruptive behavioral problems and emotional instability in children and adolescents.

        측두골 유양도출정맥의 형태와 임상적 특징

        Introduction & object : Mastoid emissary vein (MEV) complex is one of the superficial venous systems of posterior neck. It could be a potential source of bleeding during flap elevation or might be an obstacle to bone work for hearing device surgery. The objective of this study is to evaluate the morphometric analysis of MEV complex using 3-d reconstruction of temporal bone CT. Materials & Method : From the normal adults TBCT aged from 20 to 60, twenty identifiable MEV cases without history of head trauma, otitis media, neurological disease, and skull surgery including mastoid surgery were evaluated. Morphometric parameter of MEV angle from sigmoid sinus, the length of MEV from the branch of sigmoid sinus to the bony aperture mastoid bone, distance from mastoid tip to the bony aperture of MEV, distance from asterion to the bony aperture of MEV, distance from asterion to mastoid tip, perpendicular length from bon aperture of MEV to the imaginary line which pass asterion and mastoid tip, perpendicular length from bon aperture of MEV to the imaginary temporal line. Conclusions : Preoperative evaluation of MEV is recommended for the retrosigmoid bone work or periosteal flap elevation. Three dimensional reconstruction of MEV might helpful for the imaginary information for the surgeon.

        Validation of a Multiresidue Analysis Method for 379 Pesticides in Human Serum Using Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

        <P>A screening method for simultaneous analysis of 379 pesticides in human serum was developed using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Electrospray ionization with positive/negative switching mode of LC-MS/MS was adopted, and scheduled multiple reaction monitoring for each target compound was established. The limit of quantitation was 10 ng/mL for 94.5% of the total pesticides, and the correlation coefficients of calibration were ≥0.990 for 93.9% of the pesticides. For the sample preparation, scaled-down QuEChERS were used. Serum (100 μL) was extracted with acetonitrile (400 μL), partitioned with magnesium sulfate (40 mg) and sodium chloride (10 mg), and the upper layer was used for analysis without further cleanup steps. For the accuracy and precision tests, most of the pesticides showed excellent results in intra- and interday conditions. In the recovery tests at 10, 50, and 250 ng/mL, 85.8-91.8% of all target compounds satisfied the recovery range of 70-120% (relative standard deviation ≤20%).</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>
