Development of a Welding Machine System Using Brown Gas by Improved Water Electrolyzation

Throughout the world, studies on the water energization are currently under way. Of those, Brown gas, which is generated through the electrolyzation of water and is a mixed gas of the constant volume of 2 parts hydrogen to 1 part oxygen, has better characteristics in terms of economy, energy efficiency, and environmental affinity than those of acetylene gas and LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) used for existing welding machines. This paper analyzes the characteristics of Brown gas and presents methods for increasing the generating efficiency of Brown gas by designing a power supply to deliver power to a water-electrolytic cell and designing a cylindrical electrode to improve the efficiency of the electrolyzer needed for water electrolyzation. Based on the above the methods, a welding machine using Brown gas is developed. And the generation efficiency of Brown gas is measured under different conditions (duty ratio, frequency and amplitude) of supplied power.

In this paper, we present the fabrication of 40 Gb/s traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator-integrated laser (TW-EML) modules. A selective area growth method is first employed in 40 Gb/s EML fabrication to simultaneously provide active layers for lasers and modulators. The 3 dB bandwidth of a TW-EML module is measured to be 34 GHz, which is wider than that of a lumped EML module. The 40 Gb/s non-return-to-zero eye diagram shows clear openings with an average output power of +0.5 dBm.
Proteomic Analysis of Differentially Expressed Proteins in Bovine Endometrium with Endometritis

Endometritis is one of the primary reasons for reproductive failure. In order to investigate endometritis-associated marker proteins, proteomic analysis was performed on bovine endometrium with endometritis. In bovine endometritis, desmin, $\alpha$-actin-2, heat-shock protein (HSP) 27, peroxiredoxin-6, luteinizing hormone receptor isoform 1, collectin-43 precursor, deoxyribonuclease-I (DNase-I), and MHC class I heavy chain (MHC-Ih) were up-regulated. In contrast, transferrin, interleukin-2 precursor, hemoglobin $\beta$ subunit, and potassium channel tetramerisation domaincontaining 11 (KCTD11) were down-regulated in comparison to normal endometrium. The proteomic results were validated by semiquantitative-PCR and immunoblot analysis. The mRNA levels of desmin, transferrin, $\alpha$-actin-2, HSP27, KCTD11, and MHC-Ih were up-regulated by over 1.5-fold, and showed a pattern similar to their proteomic profiles. Desmin and $\alpha$-actin-2 protein showed positive correlations between proteomic analysis and immunoblot analysis. These results suggest that desmin and $\alpha$-actin-2 may play important roles in endometritis-related function, and could be useful markers for the diagnosis of bovine endometritis.

Background: Atopic keratoconjuctivitis (AKC) is an allergic ocular diasese which cause severe damage to cornea and vision loss. AKC is associated with atopic dermatitis (AD), so alteration of conjuctival microbiome may be associated with immunologic imbalance. Objectives: We analyzed floral communities of conjuctiva in patients with AKC, and compared those in healthy induviduals. Methods: 16S ribosomal ribonucleic acid (rRNA) gene sequencing and data processing were used to aquire library of compositional information of patients with AKC and healthy individuals. The microbial and mycobial communities of conjuctiva in AKC were charaterized by average taxonomic composition, relative abundance and diversity analysis. Results: In AKC patients, the conjuctival taxonomic composition is more diverse than those in healthy individuals. Beta diversity in patients with AKC was higher compared to healthy control group. Conclusion: Composition and diversity of microbial and mycobial communities in AKC patients were different from those of healthy individuals. Although the bacterial genus that cause AKC is not uncertain, alteration of conjuctival microbiome in AKC patients may have an effect on local immunologic dysfunction in AD. Our findings suggested dysbiosis in AKC patients can be associated with mucosal barrier dysfunction as same as in AD patients.

Objective. Failure of first-line anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF) agents in in rheumatoid arthritis patients leads to decisions among second-line biologic agents. To better inform these decisions, the therapeutic effectiveness of rituximab is compared with other second-line biologic agents in this observational study. Methods. Between November 2011 and December 2014, study subjects were observed for 12 month periods. Patients with an inadequate response to initial anti-TNF agent received either rituximab or alternative anti-TNF agents (adalimumab/etanercept/infliximab) based on the preference of patients and physicians. The efficacy end point of this study was the change in 28-joint count Disease Activity Score (DAS28) at six and 12 months from baseline. Safety data were also collected. Results. Ninety patients were enrolled in the study. DAS28 at six months did not change significantly whether the patients were treated with rituximab or alternative anti-TNF agents in intention-to-treat analysis (n=34, -1.63±0.30 vs. n=31, -2.05±0.34) and standard population set analysis (n=31, -1.51±0.29 vs. n=24, -2.21±0.34). Similarly, the change in DAS28 at 12 months did not reach statistical significance (-1.82±0.35 in the rituximab vs. -2.34±0.44 in the alternative anti-TNF agents, p=0.2390). Furthermore, the incidences of adverse events were similar between two groups (23.5% for rituximab group vs. 25.8% for alternative anti-TNF agents group, p=0.7851). Conclusion. Despite the limitations of our study, switching to rituximab or alternative anti-TNF agents after failure of the initial TNF antagonist showed no significant therapeutic difference in DAS28 reduction.
