The erosion behavior of artificially aged HK40 steel was invested. Erosion tests were conducted at room temperature, 200℃ and 400℃ using Al_2O_3 particles. Erosion rates increased with the increment of temperature. The maximum erosion rate appeared with the impingement angle of 30 degree. The erosion rate increased, reached the maximum at 1000 hours, and after that, decreased with the heat treatment time. The mechanism of erosion seems to be the cutting wear which is very much associated with the strength of material. As results, the erosion rates were rather affected by the tensile strength and the strain hardening coefficient than the hardness and the yield strength. Such changes of material properties would be caused by the change of micro-structure due to the precipitation of carbide and the dissolution of solid element within matrix during the heat treatment.

2 CASES OF RABBIT SYNDROME : 토끼증후군 2례

The application of neuroleptics to schizophrenic and other psychotic patients in the early 1950's led to the therapeutic revolution into the psychiatry, on the other hand neuroleptic-related adverse effects did frequently occur. The authors experienced 2 cases of rabbit syndrome producing by rare complication of neuroleptic medication. Two cases were examined for the rabbit syndrome by the description of Villeneuve(1972) and Sovner and DiMascio(1977). The reciprocal coordination test and the finger-tapping technique to worsen the symptoms also were applied to two patients. The authors emphasized two issues of rabbit syndrome as follows. First, though the literature search showed that the majority of patients presented with rabbit syndrome which is usually seen after a prolonged exposure to neuroleptic medication with the more potency in the middle or elderly aged are over 45 years old, we suggest that this syndrome might be linked to the younger age factor and the low potency thioridazine in our patient. Second, the rabbit syndrome is in the importance of the clinical practice because of being readily reversible with antiparkinsonian agents or anticholinergic drugs. In addition, recognizing this condition and differentiating it from tardive dyskinesia helps in the choice of the proper treatment of orofacial disorders following neuroleptic medication for the long time.

자연환경방사선에 의한 피폭선량(유효선량당량)의 종합적 해석연구

자연환경방사선의 세 가지 주요 요소인 지각방사선, 우주선 전리성분 및 라돈과 그 자핵종이 주는 선량을 측정, 해석하였는 바 18개월간에 걸쳐 대전, 수원, 경산 지역에 대하여 수행하고 이를 종합하여 유효선량당량으로 평가하였다. 지각방사선과 우주선 전리성분 측정을 위하여 3"∮×3" Nal(Tl) 섬광검출기와 휴대형 다중파고분석기를 이용한 감마선 분광분석 및 ^7LiF PTEE disk TLD에 의한 적산선량측정을 병행하였고, 공기중 라돈농도의 측정은 CR-39 고체비적검출기를 내장한 라돈컵을 설계제작하여 사용하였으며 비적수 라돈농도 교정인자는 스웨덴 국립방사선 방호연구소의 표준 라돈 챔버내에서 조사하여 결정하였다. 세 지역의 가연방사선에 의한 유효선량당량에는 약간의 수치적 차이는 있었으나 본질적 차이는 찾아볼 수 없었으며 지역 측정치의 분산가중 평균치는 지각방사선 (463±3)uSvㆍy^-1[(52.9±0.3)nSvㆍh^-1], 우주선 전리성분 (287±15)uSvㆍy^-1[(32.8±1.7)nSvㆍy^-1]로 외부 피폭이 (775±9)uSvㆍy^-1[(88.5±1.0)nSvㆍy^-1]였으며 라돈과 그 자핵종에 의한 내부피폭은 (1973±298)uSvㆍy^-1[(225.2±34.0)nSvㆍy^-1]였다. 따라서 자연황경방사선에 의한 여간 총 선량당량은 (2762±296)uSvㆍy^-1[(315.3±34.0)nSvㆍh^-1]로 평가되었는데 이 값들은 UN보고서^(11)에 나온 “정상적 자연방사선 지역”의 값과 비교할 만한 타당한 값으로 나타났다. Assessment of effective dose equivalent from natural environmental radiation that consists of terrestrial gamma­ray, ionizing component of cosmic­ray and alpha­rays of atmospheric radon and its decay products has been carried out for 18 months in Daejeon, Suwon and Kyungsan areas. A 3"∮×3"cylindrical Nal(Ti) scintillation detector in association with portable multichannel analyser and ^7LiF PTFE disk TLDs were used for the measurement of terrestrial gamma­ray and cosmic­ray ionizing component, while self­designed radon­cups with CR-39 SSNTD attached to the inside bottom were used for the integral measurement of at­mospheric radon concentration. Determination of calibration factor for converting track density of CR-39 detector to radon concentration was made by irradiation of radon­cups in the standard radon chamber of Swedish National Institute of Radiation Protection. Although resultant effective dose equivalents of three different measurment points show minor numerical differences, no essential discripancy between the places was found. The variance weighted means of the annual effective dose equivalents of each component of radiation from the tree places came out to be: (463±3)uSvㆍy^-1[(52.9±0.3)nSvㆍy^-1] for terrestrial gamma­ray, (287±15)uSvㆍy^-1[(32.8±1.7)nSvㆍy^-1] for ionizing component of cosmic­ray and (1973±298)uSvㆍy^-1[(225.2±34.0)nSvㆍy^-1] for internal exposure of radon and its decay products. Consequent total effective dose equivalent turned out to be (2762±298)uSvㆍy^-1[(315.3±34.0)nSvㆍy^-1], which if reasonably comparable with that appeared in UNSCEAR Report^[11]as per caput annual effective dose equivalent in “areas of normal back ground radiation.”

This study is designed to grasp the elements and situations of stage fright in order to propose a part of ways to cope with it. We make 511 top-class high school players, male and female, in the central districts (Seoul, Inchon, Kyungki, Chungbuk, and Kangweon Province) on object of questionnaire, and get the following results. Through players generally have all-round characters they show weakness in the superiority and emotional stability while showing strength in the sonformity. This fact comes to be related to the elements which cause stage fright. Physiological changes also have many effects on the symptom of stage fright. Especially, stage fright increases when players show sensitive reaction to the self-consciousness of final consequence which comes from the tension or uneasiness of sympathetic nerve, Thus, it turns out that players make use of reducing psychological burden by physical exercise or adjusting the level of demanded result in order to release the stage fright.

Milk of calcium bile or limy bile is a rare condition in which the gallbladder is filled with a thick, pastelike, radiopaque material. It is almost entirely composed of calcium carbonate. The mechanism by which bile turns into limy bile is not well understood, Hewever, complete cystic duct obstruction by gallstones is believed to be a prerequisite for the development of limy bile. Hourglass gallbladder is a deformity of the gallbladder with a constriction or midtransverse septum between the infundibulum and body. Stasis proximal to the constriction probably contributes to calculous formation and may provoke cancerous alternations. This is the account of a case of Hourglass gallbladder associated with limy bile at the fundal compartment in a 43-year-old man who had vague abdominal pain in the right upper quadrant and indigestion for two years. The literature on this subject is briefly reviewed.

A DC power system has many loads with varied functions. Also, there may be large pulsed loads with short duty ratios which can affect the normal operation of other loads. In this paper, Voltage Bus Conditioner(VBC) without any current sensors is proposed to damp the bus voltage transients by parallel pulsed loads. The proposed control approach requires only one voltage sensor and carries out both the functions of damping the bus voltage transients and maintaining the level of energy stored. The proposed control technique has been implemented on a TMS320F2812 Digital Signal Processor(DSP). Simulated results by a Matlab Simulink and experimental results are presented which verify the control principles and demonstrate the practicalty of the approach.

Background : The proper staging of advanced gastric cancer has crucial role in determining resectability and operative method, to prevent unnecessary operation and to predict the prognosis and survival rate. Although marked improvements have been made in computed tomography (CT) technology and endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) in recent years, reassessment of the laparoscopy for gastric cancer is required as a preoperative staging tool. Therefore, we determined the usefulness of laparoscopy for staging of advanced gastric cancer without distant metastasis in CT and EUS. Methods : Staging laparoscopy was performed in 48 patients with advanced gastric cancer staged T3 or T4 by CT and EUS. Laparoscopy was carried out with the patients under local anesthesia, and included visual inspection of abdomen, and biopsies for suspicious metastatic lesions. Laparoscopic results were compared with the postoperative pathologic findings. Results : Laparoscopy was performed successfully in 48 patients. Laparoscopy disclosed unrecognized distant metastases in 7 patients (14.6%) judged to be eligible for potentially curative resection by CT and EUS. Preoperative laparoscopy showed an accuracy of 74% for serosal infiltration. Conclusion : Our results suggest that laparoscopy is an effective means of evaluating resectability of advanced gastric cancer staged T3 or T4 and can provide valuable help in planning surgical approach.(Korean J Med 61:127-132, 2001)

Establishment of an Individual Identification System Based on Microsatellite Polymorphisms in Korean Cattle (Hanwoo)

This study was conducted to establish an individual identification system comprising of 19 microsatellite markers located on different bovine autosomes. The markers were typed on 257 animals from five cattle breeds. In total, 112 alleles were detected from the genotyping of 19 microsatellite markers. The average heterozygosities ranged from 0.292 to 0.824 and the polymorphic information content (PIC) ranged from 0.274 to 0.817 in Hanwoo. We found that there were differences in allele frequencies in Hanwoo when compared with other cattle breeds. The calculated cumulative power of discrimination (CPD) was 99.999% when nine microsatellite loci were used for analysis in the individual identification system. Also the matching probability, the probability that two unrelated animals would show the same genotypes, was estimated to be $0.44{\times}10^{-9}$. Therefore, the nine markers used in this study will be used for individual identification in two million Hanwoo individuals.
