Synchronous spectrofluorimetry was carried out for the simultaneous determination of various polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) in aqueous solution by fluorescence spectrometry have been studied. The optimal wavelength interval(Δλ) for synchronous spectra of acenaphthene, anthracene, benzo[a]anthracene, fluorene and pyrene were investigated in the presence of surfactants. The great enhancement of the fluorescence of these PAHs in Triton X-100 was obtained and optimal wavelength was 50 nm. The calibration curves in synthetic mixture solution of 5 PAHs were linear over the range from 1.0x10^-8M to 1.0x10^-4M. Under the optimal experimental conditions, the detection limits were 4.9x10^-9M, 7.0x10^-9M, 4.7x10^-9M, 1.6x10^-9M and 3.2x10^-9M for acenaphthene, anthracene, benzo[a]anthracene, fluorene and pyrene, respectively.

Determination of rare earth elements in organic solvent by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS) was investigated. Organic solvent which contained rare earth elements was directly aspirated into ICP-MS by ultrasonic nebulizer(USN) in order to reduce solvent load to the plasma. Instrumental parameters affecting analytical results have been first optimized. Data acquisition method and composition of solvent which effected on ion count rates were studied. Peak hoping method was more sensitive than scanning method. The count rate of rare earth elements was decreased for 20 ppb organic standard solution and increased for organic blank solution when the quantity of MIBK(methyl isobutyl ketone) was increased.

The physical and mechanical properties of panels fabricated by mixing thermosetting resins with wasted fiber followed by dehydrating and pressing have been investigated. The tensile shear strength, the stripping bonding strength, the moisture content and the moisture absorption were measured in accordance with the KS F 3101(1997). The flexural rigidity test, the hot-cool repetition test and the alkali-proof test were done according to the test method for concrete form, the KS F 3110(1997). The compression tests were carried out using the KS F 2206(1985). The anatomical pictures of the face and core of the panels were obtained using SEM.

This study was conducted to develop a proficiency test (PT) specimen for the enumeration of Escherichia coli, a sanitary indicative bacterium, in molluscan bivalve shellfish. The common mussel Mytilus edulis was chosen as a matrix for the PT specimen. Mussels were artificially bioaccumulated for approximately 3 h with E. coli culture. After determining the homogeneity of samples, samples were distributed to 17 participants involved in the proficiency testing program. The enumeration of E. coli was performed by the most probable number method of the American Public Health Association. Statistical evaluations of the results obtained from inter- and intra-laboratory variation indicated no significant differences in the accuracy of these techniques between participants, indicating z-scores of ${\leq}{\pm}2$ and suggesting that preparation of the PT specimen for enumerating E coli in shellfish was successful.
Prevalence of Hepatitis B Virus and HIV Co-infection in Korea

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) have a common route like sexually transmitted infections (STIs), vertical transmission and blood transfusion, etc. Therefore, it was necessary to be an attempt to confirm the relationship of HBV and HIV in Korea. We investigated the prevalence of Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and Hepatitis B core antibody (anti-HBc) in HIV positive groups (n=430) and HIV negative groups (n=434) from January 2014 to October 2015. When comparing the prevalence of anti-HBc between the two groups, HIV positive group (36.0%) showed a higher prevalence than HIV negative group (24.7%), the result was statistically significant (p < 0.05). However, there was a little difference on HBsAg and not significant. Therefore, by showing a clear difference in anti-HBc between the two groups of HIV in Korea, it was confirmed to be associated with co-infections between Hepatitis B and HIV.
다변량 분석법에 의한 Anionic Surfactant와 Nonionic Surfactant의 동시정량

흡수 분광법에 의해 얻은 스펙트럼을 주성분분석(principal analysis, PCA) 으로 자료를 요약하여 주성분 회귀분서(principal component regression, PCR)과 부분 최소자승법(partial least squares, PLS)으로 음이온과 비이온 계면활성제(anionic and nonionic surfactant)를 동시에 정량하는 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 두 가지 계면활성제가 서로 다른 농도로 혼합되어 있는 26개의 시료용액을 400~700 nm 범위에서 스펙트럼을 얻었고, 이를 이용하여 PCR과 PLS회귀모델을 얻었다. 두 가지 계면활성제가 서로 다른 농도로 포함된 5개의 외부검정용 시료들의 스펙트럼들을 이용해서 회귀모델의 적합성을 검정하기 위하여 외부검정용 시료의 농도를 계산하였다. 계산된 농도를 이용하여 relative standard error of prediction(RSEP$_{\alpha}$)를 구하여 회귀모델의 적합성을 검정하였다. A spectrophotometric method for the simultaneous determination of anionic and nonionic surfactant based on the application of multivariate calibration method such as principal component regression(PCR) and partial least squares(PLS) has been studied. The calibration models in PCR and PLS were obtained from the spectral data in the range of 400~700 nm for each standard of a calibration set of 26 standards, each containing different amounts of two surfactants. The relative standard error of prediction(RSEP$_{\alpha}$) was obtained to assess the model goodness in quantifying each analyte in a 5 validation samples which containing different amounts of two surfactants.
