      • Developing Data Mining Techniques for Intruder Detection in Network Traffic

Amar Agrawal,Sabah Mohammed,Jinan Fiaidhi 보안공학연구지원센터 2016 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.10 No.8

In this paper we have proposed a hybrid intrusion detection system consisting of a misuse detection model based upon a Binary Tree of Classifiers as the first stage and an anomaly detection model based upon SVM Classifier as the second stage. The Binary Tree consists of several best known classifiers specialized in detecting specific attacks at a high level of accuracy. Combination of a Binary Tree and specialized classifiers will increase accuracy of the misuse detection model. The misuse detection model will detect only known attacks. In-order to detect unknown attacks, we have an anomaly detection model as the second stage. SVM has been used, since it’s the best known classifier for anomaly detection which will detect patterns that deviate from normal behavior. The proposed hybrid intrusion detection has been tested and evaluated using KDD Cup ’99, NSL-KDD and UNSW-NB15 dataset.

Solitary Osseous Metastasis of Rectal Carcinoma Masquerading as Osteogenic Sarcoma on Post-Chemotherapy Imaging: A Case Report

        Amar Udare,Nilesh Sable,Rajiv Kumar,Meenakshi Thakur,Shashikant Juvekar 대한영상의학회 2015 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.16 No.1

Solitary metastases from colorectal carcinoma in the absence of hepatic or pulmonary metastases are rare. These can have a diverse imaging appearance, particularly after chemotherapy. It is important identify patients with solitary skeletal metastases, as they have a better prognosis than those with multiple skeletal or visceral metastases. We describe an unusual case of a solitary metastasis to the femur in a case of colon carcinoma that went undiagnosed and later presented with imaging features of osteogenic sarcoma.

      • Stakeholder collaboration and sustainable ecotourism development nexus in developing countries: Evidence from Southern Ethiopia

Amare WONDIRAD 한국서비스디자인학회 2023 한국서비스디자인학회 학술대회자료집 Vol.2023 No.1

Ecotourism has been widely promoted by academics and practitioners alike as a tool to achieve the dual aims of conservation and development. However, several scholars questioned whether sustainability goals can be successfully achieved through ecotourism. Of the various limiting factors of ejfective ecotourism development discussed in the literature, a lack of ejfective stakeholder collaboration is pervasive. This study investigates the contributions of stakeholder collaboration towards sustainable ecotourism development in a developing country setting by employing stakeholder and collaboration theories and triple-bottom-line principles. Through adopting a qualitative research approach with an exploratory design, the current study unfolds the existence of poor interactions and collaboration among ecotourism stakeholders, which in turn, affects the sustainable development of ecotourism. Findings challenge that in poorly resourced remote destinations, failure to meaningfully empower and participate communities does not only undermine the successful development of ecotourism but also it jeopardizes the long-term survival of the ecosystem and communities themselves.

      • Application of sugarcane bagasse ash in the production of low cost soil-cement brick

        Amaral, Mateus C.,Holanda, Jose N.F. Techno-Press 2017 Advances in environmental research Vol.6 No.4

This work investigated the use of sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) generated by an energy cogeneration process in sugarcane mill as an alternative raw material in soil-cement brick. The SCBA obtained from a sugarcane mill located in southeastern Brazil was characterized with respect to its chemical composition, organic matter content, X-ray diffraction, plasticity, and pozzolonic activity. Soil-cement bricks were prepared by pressing and curing. Later, they were tested to determine technical properties (e.g., volumetric shrinkage, apparent density, water absorption, and compressive strength), present crystalline phases, and microstructural evolution. It was found that the SCBA contains appreciable amounts of silica ($SiO_2$) and organic matter. The results showed that the SCBA could be used in soil-cement bricks, in the range up to 30 wt.%, as a partial replacement for Portland cement. These results suggest that the SCBA could be valorized for manufacturing low-cost soil-cement bricks.

Numerical investigation of gas heating effect in dielectric barrier discharge for Ne-Xe excilamp

        Amar Benmoussa,Ahmed Belasri,Zahir Harrache 한국물리학회 2017 Current Applied Physics Vol.17 No.4

The purpose of this paper is to study the gas heating phenomenon in dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) due to the Joule heating effect for Ne-Xe gas mixtures. In this work, the simulationwas performed using a one-dimensional fluid model. The gas temperature profile was calculated by heat conduction equation resolution along gap distance of discharge. The increasing of gas temperature close to the vicinity of cathode is due to the high values in the power deposited in this region. The results show that the gas temperature in DBD excited with rectangular applied voltage waveform is more important than the discharge created by a sinusoidal excitation. For high values of secondary electron emission coefficient (g) the gas temperature will be increasing. The effect of varying gas mixture composition on gas temperature has been also examined.

Experimental investigation on flexural behaviour of HSS stud connected steel-concrete composite girders

Amar Prakash,N.Anandavalli,C.K.Madheswaran,N.Lakshmanan 국제구조공학회 2012 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.13 No.3

In this paper, experimental investigations on high strength steel (HSS) stud connected steelconcrete composite (SCC) girders to understand the effect of shear connector density on their flexural behaviour is presented. SCC girder specimens were designed for three different shear capacities (100%, 85%,and 70%), by varying the number of stud connectors in the shear span. Three SCC girder specimens were tested under monotonic/quasi-static loading, while three similar girder specimens were subjected to nonreversal cyclic loading under simply supported end conditions. Details of casting the specimens, experimental set-up, and method of testing, instrumentation for the measurement of deflection, interface-slip and strain are discussed. It is found that SCC girder specimen designed for full shear capacity exhibits interface slip for loads beyond 25% of the ultimate load capacity. Specimens with lesser degree of shear connection show lower values of load at initiation of slip. Very good ductility is exhibited by all the HSS stud connected SCC girder specimens. It is observed that the ultimate moment of resistance as well as ductility gets reduced for HSS stud connected SCC girder with reduction in stud shear connector density. Efficiency factor indicating the effectiveness of high strength stud connectors in resisting interface forces is estimated to be 0.8 from the analysis. Failure mode is primarily flexure with fracturing of stud connectors and characterised by flexural cracking and crushing of concrete at top in the pure bending region. Local buckling in the top flange of steel beam was also observed at the loads near to failure, which is influenced by spacing of studs and top flange thickness of rolled steel section. One of the recommendations is that the ultimate load capacity can be limited to 1.5 times the plastic moment capacity of the section such that the post peak load reduction is kept within limits. Load-deflection behaviour for monotonic tests compared well with the envelope of load-deflection curves for cyclic tests. It is concluded from the experimental investigations that use of HSS studs will reduce their numbers for given loading, which is advantageous in case of long spans. Buckling of top flange of rolled section is observed at failure stage. Provision of lips in the top flange is suggested to avoid this buckling. This is possible in case of longer spans, where normally built-up sections are used.

Factors Predicting Weight Loss after “Sleeve Gastrectomy with Loop Duodenojejunal Bypass” Surgery for Obesity

Amar Vennapusa,Ramakanth Bhargav Panchangam,Charita Kesara,Tejaswi Chivukula 대한비만학회 2020 The Korean journal of obesity Vol.29 No.3

Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy with loop duodenojejunal bypass (SG LDJB) is a loop modification of biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. The aim of this study was to analyze weight loss response and factors predicting weight loss outcomes after SG LDJB. Methods: This was a retrospective study analyzing SG LDJB surgeries performed between May 2013 and December 2017 in 126 Indians suffering from obesity. The collected data was analyzed to understand weight loss efficacy and the factors predicting weight loss. Surgery was considered successful when percentage excess weight loss (%EWL) was ≥50% or percentage total weight loss (%TWL) was ≥25%. Results: %EWL was 95.77% and 83.84% and %TWL was 34.64% and 30.32% at the 1-year and 3-year follow-up, respectively. %EWL ≥50% was 99.04% and 96.47% and %TWL ≥25% was 91.35% and 75.29% at the 1-year and 3-year follow-up, respectively. Patient age and sex did not independently predict %EWL or %TWL. Preoperative body mass index (BMI), weight, and excess weight negatively predicted %EWL and positively predicted %TWL at the 1-year and 3-year follow-up. Multiple regression analysis showed that these parameters were independent predictors of %EWL and %TWL at 1 year, while preoperative weight and excess weight also independently predicted %EWL at the 3-year follow-up. In diabetic patients, %EWL was significantly lower at the 3-year follow-up and %TWL was significantly lower at the 1-year and 3-year follow-up. Conclusion: SG LDJB was an effective bariatric surgery to treat obesity. Preoperative BMI, weight, excess weight, and the presence of diabetes were the significant factors associated with the weight loss outcomes.

Finite element analysis of a piled footing under horizontal loading

        Amar Bouzid, Dj. Techno-Press 2011 Geomechanics & engineering Vol.3 No.1

In this paper a semi-analytical approach is proposed to study the lateral behavior of a piled footing under horizontal loading. As accurate computation of stresses is usually needed at the interface separating the footing (pile) and the soil, this important location should be appropriately modeled as zero-thickness joint element. The piled footing is embedded in elastic soil with either homogeneous modulus or modulus proportional to depth (Gibson's soil). As the pile is the principal element in the piled footing system, a limited parametric study is carried out in order to investigate the influence of footing dimensions and the interface conditions on the lateral behavior of the pile. Hence, the pile behavior is examined through its main governing parameters, namely, the lateral displacement profiles, the bending moments, the shear forces and the soil reactions. The numerical results are presented for Poisson's ratio of 0.2 to represent a large variety of sands and Poisson's ratio of 0.5 to represent undrained clays.

Adaptability and Stability Analysis of Groundnut Genotypes Using AMMI Model and GGE-biplot

Amare Kebede B,Adisu Getahun 한국작물학회 2017 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.20 No.5

Unpredictable rainfall, variations in farm inputs, crop-diseases, and the inherent potential of genotypes are among the major factors for low and variable crop yield. Fourteen elite groundnut genotypes were examined in 14 environments to analyze adaptability and stability of genotypes, and identify mega-environments if they exist. Additive main effect and multiplicative interaction (AMMI) model, cultivar-superiority measure, and genotype plus genotype-by-environment (GGE) biplot analysis were used for data analysis. The environment (69.8%) and genotype-by-environment interaction (GEI) effects (21.4%) were dominating the genotypic effect (8.8%). The GEI was significant (P < 0.01), and two distinct environments (mega-environments) were identified, suggesting separate national groundnut breeding strategies for Babile and Pawe. ICGV-94100 and ICGV-97156 were stable and had the highest-yield at Babile and Pawe, respectively. The higher heritability value was recorded in more homogeneous and favorable environments, indicating the genetic potential of groundnut genotypes were better attained in more homogeneous and favorable environments. AMMI model, cultivar-superiority measure, and GGE biplots were helpful methodologies and complemented each other to evaluate the adaptability and stability of groundnut genotypes in diverse environments.
