Gas holdup and volumeteric liquid phase mass transfer coefficient in a bubble column with granular activated carbon were measured according to partcle size and concentration of granular activated carbon and gas velocity. The results of the experiments were as follows ; 1. Gas holdup and volumetric liquid phase mass transfer coefficient increase with increasing the gas velocity. 2. Gas holdup has no effect on concentration of granular activated carbon, but volumetric liquid phase mass transfer coefficient decrease with increasing the concentration. 3. Gas holdup increase with being enlarged particle size of granular activated carbon, but volumetric liquid phase mass transfer cofficient decrease. 4. Correlations among various parameters having an influence on Gas holdup and volumetric liquid phase mass transfer coeffient were expressed by Eq.(9) and Eq.(10) respectively.
A Study on the Characteristics of Soot Formation with C/H Ratio of Fuel in Diffusion Flame

In a diffusion flames of a burner, the distribution of soot concentration is taken as a two-dimensional image by ICCD camera, when laser sheet is irradiated into flame of the burner. The formation of soot is considered by the analysis of measured images in each the conditions of diffusion flame, and it is tried to derive the information for relative diameter and number density of soot with C/H ratio of fuels. Because spray combustion of diesel engine has variable parameters and it is difficult to estimate and consider results. Before considering information about soot, hence, general stable results are to be obtained through diffusion flame of a burner with constant parameters. A C/H ratio of fuel relates to soot formation and soot concentration is dense in a case of relative high C/H ratio. Therefore, as C/H ratio of fuel increases, soot is formed a lot more.<br/>
