Objectives : The purpose of this study is to compare with the effect of general oriental medical treatment with or without ankle joint Chuna Manual Therapy for acute ankle sprain. Methods : We investigated 36cases of ankle sprain patients, and devided patients into two groups: One was treated general oriental medical treatment(Control Group) and the other was treated ankle joint Chuna Manual Therapy with general oriental medical treatment(Experimental Group). Results : 1. Each Group had significantly decrease in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and significantly increase in Ankle-Hind-foot Scale(AHS) after treatment. 2. Experimental Group was significant differences in Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Ankle-Hind-foot Scale(AHS) compare to Control Group. Conclusions : In this clinical study, general oriental medical treatment with ankle joint Chuna Manual Therapy was more effective in reduce ankle sprain pain and improve ankle joint function.

Greeting the 5th year of implementation, the school facility BTL projects have gone into the operation management stage in around 690 schools as of 2009. Considering the nature of BTL projects, the success of the school facility BTL projects will be determined by rational implementation of the operation plan established at the beginning of the projects for the 20 years of operation management. In addition, an objective system to evaluate the outcomes of operation is necessary for efficient operation management. However, the present system to evaluate the outcomes of operation of the school facility BTL projects was prepared by benchmarking PFI projects in Japan thus it is not quite suitable to domestic environments and problems are being raised. Therefore, this study is intended to establish an operation outcome system that can systematically and objectively manage and evaluate the outcome of operation of the school facility BTL projects. This study is a basic study to establish an efficient operation outcome system for school facility BTL projects and will examine and analyze work processes for evaluation of the state of implementation of the school facility BTL projects, operation & maintenance and operation outcomes. In addition, to introduce facility performance evaluation indexes, this study will examine and analyze existing performance evaluation tools and the present operation outcome evaluation items and based on the result, this study will draw problems in the existing operation outcome evaluation system and grope measures to improve.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to report Bell's palsy patients with postauricular pain treated by Calculus Bovis Fel Ursi Moschus(BUM) Pharmacopuncture. Methods : The 6 patients were treated by the Korean medica treatment including herbal medication, dry needle acupuncture and physical therapy. We performed BUM Pharmacopuncture in Yepung for the treatment of postauricular pain once or twice. We have evaluated the effect of BUM Pharmacopuncture by Visual Analog Scale(VAS). Results : After BUM Pharmacopuncture for the treatment of postauricular pain, VAS were decreased in all cases. Conclusions : It was suggested that BUM Pharmacopuncture might have effect on control of auricular pain in Bell's palsy. Further, systemic studies will be needed to evaluate obvious effect of BUM pharmacopuncture on postauricular pain of Bell's palsy.
요추추간판탈출증에 대한 일반침 치료와 간접구 병행치료의 임상적 효과비교

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical effect of indirect moxibustion treatment for HIVD patients. Methods : From March 2010 to December 2010, 32 HIVD patients who admitted to Semyung oriental medical hospital were divided into two groups. Group I was treated by indirect moxibustion and general acupuncture, group II by general acupuncture. We evaluated the treatment effect of each group with the visual analog scale(VAS) and Oswestry disability index(ODI) by dividing three period(from admission day to third day after admission, from third day to sixth day after admission and from sixth day to ninth day after admission). Results : 1. Group I was more effective than group II in VAS score reducing rate at sixth day after admission and ninth day after admission but there was no statistical significance between two groups at third day after admission 2. Group I was more effective than group II in VAS improvement rate from third day to sixth day after admission but there was no statistical significance between two groups from admission day to third day after admission and sixth day to ninth day after admission. 3. Group I was more effective than group II in ODI score reducing rate at sixth day after admission and ninth day after admission but there was no statistical significance between two groups at third day after admission. 4. In ODI improvement rate group I was higher than group II, but there was no statistical significance. Conclusions : Through this research, Indirect moxibustion treatment is considered to be effective reducing pain for HIVD(Herniated intervertebral disc) patients.

Objectives: The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of Carthami-Flos Pharmacopuncture on posterior neck pain of menopausal women. Methods: We treated 20 female patients with neck pain patient(45-60 yr) into two groups and treated Group A with Carthami-Flos Pharmacopuncture and common acupuncture and Group B with common acupuncture. The efficacy of treatment was measured by VAS, NDI and MENQOL scores of before and after 30 days to start treatment. Results: Both group A and B represented effective improvement in VAS and NDI of neck pain and MENQOL scores. And group A was more effective than B group statistically. Conclusions: It was suggested that Carthami-Flos Pharmacopuncture treatment might have effect on posterior neck pain treatment of menopausal women.

To improve Mechanical and Thermal Properties of semiconducting materials in power cable, we have investigated those of semiconducting materials showed by changing the content of carbon black and Carbon Nanotube, Density were measured by EW-200SG. High temperature, heat degradation initiation temperature, and heat weight loss were measured by TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis). The dimension of measurement temperature was 0[℃] to 700[℃], and rising temperature was 10[℃/min]. Heat degradation initiation temperature from the TGA results was decreased according to increasing the content of Carbon Nanotube, That is, heat stabilities of EVA containing the weak VA (vinyl acetate) against heat was measured the lowest. From the results of the experiment applied in this study, it is evident that a small amount of Carbon nanotube additives significantly improved the Mechanical and Thermal Properties of semiconducting materials.

The need for organic soil amendment is increasing in the Republic of Korea against the backdrop of soil acidification, pollution, and nutrient losses. The pyrolysis of organic waste biomass produces biochar, which not only increases soil productivity, but also confers environmental benefits by reducing greenhouse gases through carbon sequestration. Brewer’s spent grain (BSG) is rich in useful nutrients and functional substances, but its recycled portion is by far less than the amount generated. Pyrolysis can help to reduce the volume of generated BSG wastes, thus easing it’s recycling. This study evaluated the effects of brewer’s spent grain biochar (BBxxx) pyrolyzed at different temperatures of 300, 500, and 700℃ on the growth and quality characteristics of leaf lettuce including physicochemical properties of the soil. The experiment was conducted at Chungnam National University in Daejeon, Korea. Leaf lettuce was grown in the greenhouse in Wagner pots (1/5000 a) for 35 days. Dried BSG and BBxxx were each added to the soil at rates of 0, 2, and 5% by weight, respectively. Increasing pyrolysis temperatures resulted in increased pH and carbon content of biochar which in turn increased the soil pH and carbon when biochar and soil were admixed. The growth investigation, leaf lettuce with the BB500 5% treatment had the heaviest fresh weight (107.24 ± 3.05 g plant -1 ). The quality investigation, the Anthocyanin content of leaf lettuce with BB500 and BB700 treatments were higher than the control. The results indicate that BB500 performed better than the rest of the biochar and is therefore recommended as an effective soil amendment.
