Objective: The vibration device is one of the most commonly used warm-up devices not only for healthy athletes but also for healthy individuals. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the immediate effects of local vibration on ankle plantar flexor muscle activation and peak torque in healthy adults. Design: One-group pretest-posttest design. Methods: This was a single-group study comprising a total of 36 (16 males and 20 females) participants. The average age of the 36 participants was 22.3 years. All the participants’ concentric and eccentric peak torques of the gastrocnemius lateralis muscle were measured using an isokinetic device. Simultaneously, the participants’ muscle activity was measured by surface electromyography. After the pre-experimental data were collected, the participants comfortably sat on the prepared chair with their hips and knees flexed to 90°. While in sitting position, local vibration was applied for 10 minutes using a 1:1 ratio intermittent pulsing mode device based on a previous study. Then, the post-experimental data were collected immediately after the local vibration by performing a similar process performed during the pre-experimental data collection. Results: The results showed a significant difference in muscle activity and eccentric peak torque (p<0.05). On the contrary, concentric peak torque values showed an insignificant difference with pre- and post-value. Conclusions: The results of this study demonstrated that local vibration can be possibly considered as one of the effective ways to increase ankle plantar flexor muscle activity and muscle performance, specifically the eccentric peak torque, in healthy adults.

The study is to analize the spectral characteristics of metamorphic rocks by their spectral reflectance curves obtained from CARY 17-D Spectrophotometer. Coarse grained rocks generally show strong absorption at 1.4 and 1.9㎛ due to preserved water inclusion in quartz or feldspar. The basic rocks show a broad absorption due to Fe++ ion rich in mafic minerals. Strong absorption near 2.0+㎛ suggests existence of carbonate or clay minerals.

The flow of groundwater, occurrence, and hydrochemical characteristics in crystalline rocks were mainly controlled by hydrogeologic features such as lithology and geologic structures (fractures, faults, and lineaments). In this study, the yield capacity of groundwater and hydrochemical characteristics were determined according to the development and direction of lineaments in each geological formation in the Imsil area. The study area was composed mainly of granites, sedimentary rocks, volcanic rocks and diorite. The dominant direction of lineaments were NE and NNW in granites, NNE and NNW in sedimentary rocks, NE and NNW in volcanic rocks, and NW in diorite. The specific yield capacity showed the highest value up to 8.61 m2/day in granite and the lowest value of 6.21 m2/day in diorite. The hydrochemical type of groundwater was Ca-Na-HCO3 in granite, sedimentary rocks and diorite, whereas Ca-Na-HCO3-SO4 in volcanic rocks.
한반도 Lineament와 Circular/Arc Structure 연구

The study is to analyze and interpret lineaments and circular/arc structures on the Landsat TM images which cover the Korean peninsula and the attached islands except the Ulneung island. The Landsat TM images which cover the Korean territory are 23 scenes, and band 3 and band 5 were selected for the study from seven bands, because the both bands are sensitive on soil moisture and geological materials. Lineament trend anslysis shows Sinian direction(NNE-SSW), Pyeongan direction(NW-SE), Yodong direction(NE-SW), Korean direction(NNW-SSE) and Danyang direction (WNW-ESE) are predominant lineament trends of Korea. Circular/arc structures can be devided into four categories according to their origin; 1) volcanic activity origin, 2) granite intrusion oringin, 3) structural origin and 4) the others.
