약년층과 노령층 위암 환자의 비교

Purpose: The aim of this study was to compare the clinicopathological characteristics and postoperative prognosis of two age groups with gastric cancer in order to establish the proper treatment strategy in these groups of patients. Materials and Methods: Among patients with gastric cancer who underwent a gastrectomy between 1990 and 1996 at the Department of Surgery, Kyungpook National University, the clinicopathological characteristics, including the postoperative survival, of patients younger than 40-years old were compared with those of patients over 69-years old. Results: During that period 1,125 gastric cancer patients underwent a gastrectomy. Among them, 111 patients ($9.9\%$) were less than 40-years old, and 96 patients ($8.5\%$) were over 69-years old. In the young group, 79 patients ($71.2\%$) had a poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma, and 59 patients from the elderly group ($61.5\%$) had a well- or moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma (P<0.05). Curative surgery was performed for 88 ($79.3\%$) patients in the young group and 78 ($81.3\%$) patients in the elderly group. This difference was not statistically significant. There was no statistically significant difference in the 5-year survival rates between the young and the elderly ($66.3\%\;vs.\;47.2\%$) groups, but the 5-year survival rate of the young group was significantly higher than that of the elderly group after a curative resection ($83.2\%\;vs.\;53.3\%$; P<0.05). Also the 5-year survival rate of the elderly group was significantly higher than that of the young group after a non-curative resection ($20.4\%\;vs.\;4.6\%$; P<0.05). Conclusions: For young patients, more efforts are needed to detect gastric cancer in its early stages so that a curative surgery can be performed. However, for the elderly, surgical treatment is recommended at any stage because of the relatively high survival rate, even after non-curative surgery.

Objective: To examine the effectiveness of Uiin-san (薏苡仁散) as a treatment for viral warts. Methods: A 24-year-old man with warts on the left toe, both fingertips, and face was treated with acupuncture, moxibustion, and Uiin-san for 35 days. Results: After treatment, the viral warts had essentially disappeared. Conclusions: We suggest that viral warts can be treated with Uiin-san.

스피닝 운동 후 발생한 횡문근융해증 치험 1례

Objective: To report a case of rhabdomyolysis that occurred after spinning exercise. Methods: A patient diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis received Korean medical treatment and Western medical treatment for 6 days. We observed the patient for 13 days. Clinical symptoms were evaluated with a Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) and laboratory tests, which included Liver Functional Test (LFT), Renal Functional Test (RFT), creatinine phosphokinase (CPK), myoglobin, and urine tests. Results: After treatment, the clinical symptoms were improved. In this case, acute renal failure did not occur. Laboratory results, including AST, ALT, CPK, and LDH, were also improved. Conclusions: Rhabdomyolysis can be treated cooperatively with Korean and western medical cooperative treatment.

전립선비대증 변증도구 개발 기초 연구

Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop a standard tool of pattern identification, which will be applied to clinical research, for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Method: The items and structure of the instrument were based on a review of the published literature in China and Korea. The advisory committee on this study included 11 kidney-endocrine professors of the Korean Medical Colleges Division and 4 Korean medicine doctors who had a doctor's degree in the Kidney-Endocrine Division. The advisory committee was questioned regarding pattern identification importance, symptom weight, treatment importance, changes in the symptoms, rare changes in the symptoms, and frequency of prescriptions regarding benign prostatic hyperplasia. Results: The Korean instrument of pattern identification was completed; it was composed of four questions for benign prostatic hyperplasia. Conclusion: We sincerely look forward to improving the instrument through the continuous clinical studies.

2019년 유럽의회 선거에 관한 분석: 대외환경 변화를 중심으로

이 글은 난민 문제를 비롯한 대외 환경 변화가 2019년에 진행된 유럽의회 선거 결과에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는가를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 특히 기존의 유럽의회 선거의 2순위 선거적 특성과 극단주의 정당의 대두에 미친 영향에 대해 중점적으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 극단주의 정당의 확산이 유럽 난민 사태와 같은 사회 이슈이외에 경제적 이슈에 강한 영향을 받고 있었으며, 특히 좌파, 진보 진영 지지층을 흡수한 것으로 보여진다. The purpose of this study is to examine how changes in the external environment, including refugee issues, affected the results of the 2019 European Parliament election. In particular, the second-priority election characteristics of the existing European Parliament elections and their impact on the emergence of extremist parties were analyzed intensively. As a result of the analysis, the spread of extremist political parties was strongly influenced by economic issues in addition to social issues such as the European refugee crisis, and it seems to have absorbed supporters of the left and progressive camps.

The Lost Girl과 로렌스의 성별의식

The purpose of this paper is to study D. H. Lawrence`s gender consciousness and viewpoint of woman in The Lost Girl by focusing upon the contradictory relationship between the teller and the tale. The teller, the author-narrator, resents female autonomy and strength and conforms to a conventional ideology of woman as a passive agent. On the other hand, the tale reveals woman`s ability and determination to take an active role in changing the conditions of her life. In the beginning of The Lost Girl Alvina is a woman who has courage and independence. But she gradually submits to Cicio`s male power and accepts male dominance. It is remarkable that the tension between the teller and the tale makes a landmark change with the outbreak of World War I: the narrative tension and the status of women gradually weaken in the course of the war. Accordingly in The Lost Girl Lawrence shows the nature of an anti-feminist.

『화엄일승법계도』에 나타난 의상의 중도적 사유

의상(625~702)의 『화엄일승법계도』는 방대한 『화엄경』의 사상을 매우 독특한 방식으로 그리고 아주 간명하게 표현하고 있는 것으로 유명하다. 그런데 이 『법계도』의 게송은 '법'法으로부터 시작하여 '불'佛로 끝나는데, 이 게송이 일종의 그림 속에 배치된 방식은 기묘하게도 도착한 곳이 바로 출발한 곳이다. 의상은 이에 대해 스스로 "가고 또 가도 본래의 자리이고, 이르고 또 이르러도 떠난 자리로다"라는 말을 남기고 있다. 이러한 사고의 핵심에는 중도의 논리가 있다. 중도는 일차적으로 비유비무로 표현되지만, 의상에게 있어 중도는 유와 무가 모두 포용되는 것이다. 그러면서 의상은 이러한 사유를 밀고나가 사사상즉을 주장하게 되는데, 이는 현상 속의 낱낱의 개체들이 서로 포용하고 서로 일치된다는 중문과 즉문의 논리로 설명된다. 그리고 의상은 이를 효과적으로 설명하기 위하여 '동전 헤아리는 비유'를 거론한다. 의상의 경우 이 비유에서 거래去來, '오고 감'은 매우 중요한 요소이다. 이에 대해 의상과 동학이며 후대 화엄학에 지대한 영향을 끼쳤던 법장의 경우, '오고 감'의 요소는 그 중요성이 거의 상실되었다. 중도적 사유와 합리를 바탕으로 한 체계적 사유의 차이에서 비롯된 상위점으로 보인다. 의상의 중도적 사유는 고정점을 갖지 않는다. 그것은 끊임없이 유동하는 것이며, 그래서 우리에게 끊임없는 실천적 삶을 요구한다. 그의 사상에 항상 부정의 계기가 있는 것은 이 때문이다. Diagram of the Dharmadhātu by Uisang(625~702) is famous for its uniqueness and compendious summing-up of the basic thoughts which are contained in the vast Avataṃsaka Sūtra. The 210 Chinese characters, which compose a poem summarizing the thought of Avataṃsaka Sūtra, are disposed along the diagram, where the first and the last letter of the poem come together in the middle of it. Uisang himself have said, "Though one goes and goes, he stays at the original place; though one arrives and arrives, he stays at the staring point." The thought of middle way is located just in the kernel of this way of thinking. Middle way is usually represented as 'no being and no non-being'. But for Uisang, middle way comprehends both of them. Moreover Uisang has pushed this way of thinking until he reached to the thought of mutual communion of the whole things. The two Gates, namely the Gate of the innermost and Gate of the identical, are two ways of explanation which are employed by Uisang. And he introduced the simile of 'counting the ten coins', which includes the 'coming and going' as the basic element to expose the meaning of the simile. On the other hand, in the case of Fatsang the significance of the 'coming and going' has disappeared. It seems that the basic reason to appear such a difference located in the difference between the middle way and the rational systematic thought. The middle way of thinking has no fixed center. It continuously floats and it demands us to live practical lives constantly. That is the reason why there is negative point in Uisang's thought.

『채털리 부인의 연인』에 나타난 에로스와 타나토스의 대립 양상

This paper is an attempt to examine the opposing relationship between eros and thanatos in D.H. Lawrence's last novel Lady Chatterley's Lover. In this study, eros will be seen as a “power cable” which integrates the self and unites individuals. This is in contrast with the thanatotic forces which disintegrate, separate and annihilate. Lawrence urged that man should establish a pure, new, and perfected relationship with all the universe. In his ideal world, everything in life must be in one living continuum with the whole universe. In this sense, Lady Chatterley's Lover embodies the author's ideal. (Dongshin University)
