A nuclear spent fuel shipping cask is required by IAEA and domestic regulations to withstand a 9m free drop condition. In this paper, the structural analysis under the 9m side drop condition was performed to understand the dynamic impact behavior and to evaluate the safety of the cask for 7 PWR nuclear spent fuel assemblies. The analysis result was compared with the measured value of the 9m side drop test for the 1/3 scaled-down model and the accuracy of the 3D analysis was confirmed. Analysis in accordance with the diameter of impact limiters for the proto-type cask were performed. Through the analysis, the impact behaviors due to the side drop and the effects dependent on the diameter of impact limiters were grasped. Maximum stress intensities on each part of the cask were respectively calculated by using the stress evaluation program and the structural safety of the cask was finally evaluated in accordance with the regulations.

Since 2002, more than 400 PWR spent nuclear fuel assemblies have been transported and stored on-site using transport casks in order to secure the storage capacity of PWR spent nuclear fuel of Kori nuclear power plant. The complete on-site transport system, which includes KN-12 transport casks, the related equipment and transport vehicles, had been developed and provided. KN-12 transport casks were designed, fabricated and licensed in accordance with Korean and IAEA's transport regulations, and the related equipment was also provided in accordance with the related regulations. The on-site transport and storage operation using two KN-12 casks and the related equipment has been conducted, and the strict Quality Control and Radiation Safety Management through the whole process has been carried out so as to achieve the required safety and reliability of the on-site transport of spent nuclear fuel.

HIC transport packaging to transport a high integrity container(HIC) containing dry spent resin generated from nuclear power plants is to comply with the regulatory requirements of Korea and IAEA for Type B packaging due to the high radioactivity of the content, and to maintain the structural integrity under normal and accident conditions. It must withstand 9 m free drop impact onto an unyielding surface and 1 m drop impact onto a mild steel bar in a position causing maximum damage. For the conceptual design of a cylindrical HIC transport package, three dimensional dynamic structural analysis to ensure that the integrity of the package is maintained under all credible loads for 9 m free drop and 1 m puncture conditions were carried out using ABAQUS code.

To cope with the Green house effect, CO2 regulation is getting started all over the world. Automakers have been trying to find practical way to reduce CO2 from their vehicles. But it takes too much time and money to improve the vehicles effectively. In the case that the gear shift pattern of a manual transmission vehicle isn t determined like Korea & North America, driver's gear shift pattern could cause significant difference in fuel economy as well as CO2 emission. We studied on the effect of fuel consumption rate with the change of gear shift pattern in FTP75 test mode and proposed a method to find optimized shift pattern for maximum fuel economy.
확률적 프론티어 모형을 이용한 경기시내버스 운송시장의 효율성 분석

본 연구에서는 재정지원형 민영제로 운영되는 경기도 시내버스운송시장의 비용구조를 파악하고 확률적 프런티어 모형으로 비용효율성을 측정함으로써 운송업체의 비용효율을 높일 수 있는 방안을 검토하였다. 초월대수 비용함수 추정을 통해 운송비용중 연료요소가 차지하는 비중은 31.4%, 노동요소 50.4%, 자본요소 12.9%, 재료요소 5.4%로 연료와 노동에 대한 높은 비용비중을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 영향으로 경기 시내·농어촌버스운송시장에는 약한 규모의 경제가 존재하는 것으로 분석되었으며, 버스운송업체들의 규모에 대한 정책적 접근은 필요치 않다 여겨진다. 적률접근법(수정최소자승법)으로 추정된 시내·농어촌버스운송시장의 비용비효율은 평균 14%로 나타났다. 업체별 비용효율성은 좌석버스 운행비율, 평균노선길이와 양의 상관관계를, 인구밀도와 음의 상관관계를 가지는 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 운송업체의 규모와 운영경험은 관련이 없는 것으로 나타났으나, 시장 진입 초기의 업체는 시장 평균보다 낮은 비용효율성을 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 운송업체들의 비용효율을 높이기 위해서는 서비스 유형별 운행체계 검토가 필요하며, 사례 공유를 통해 높은 효율을 보이는 운송업체를 벤치마킹하도록 유도하는 방안이 필요하다. 이에 따라 업체들의 비용효율이 높아지면 업체의 운송수지가 개선뿐 아니라 지자체의 재정지원금액도 절약을 기대할 수 있다. 다만 효율성 분석결과를 현실에서 활용하기위해서는 추가연구 수행을 통해 효율성 추정치의 견고성 검토가 필요할 것으로 여겨진다.

Free drop analysis is carried out to evaluate the structural performance of the FBTF(Fuel Basket Transfer Flask) with th supplementary structure which meets the minimal structural integrity to the transport of the FBTF in accordance with the special approval arrangement of the Korea Atomic Energy Act using ABAQUS /Explicit code. Free drops of the FBTF with the supplementary structure to five directions from the maximum handling height of 1.6 m are considered. When inner shell of the FBTF is considered containment boundary, the FBTF with the supplementary structure maintains the structural integrity. Deformation of lead in the FBTF are very small, the effect of radiation shielding is not reduced. It is concluded that the supplementary structure for the FBTF is designed to satisfy special arrangement of Korea Atomic Energy Act.

Background: The Korea Interstitial Lung Disease Study Group has made a new nationwide idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) registry because the routine clinical practice has changed due to new guidelines and newly developed antifibrotic agents in the recent decade. The aim of this study was to describe recent clinical characteristics of Korean IPF patients.Methods: Both newly diagnosed and following IPF patients diagnosed after the previous registry in 2008 were enrolled. Survival analysis was only conducted for patients diagnosed with IPF after 2016 because antifibrotic agents started to be covered by medical insurance of Korea in October 2015.Results: A total of 2,139 patients were analyzed. Their mean age at diagnosis was 67.4±9.3 years. Of these patients, 76.1% were males, 71.0% were ever-smokers, 14.4% were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis, and 56.9% were at gender-agephysiology stage I. Occupational toxic material exposure was reported in 534 patients. The mean forced vital capacity was 74.6% and the diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide was 63.6%. Treatment with pirfenidone was increased over time: 62.4% of IPF patients were treated with pirfenidone initially. And 79.2% of patients were treated with antifiboritics for more than three months during the course of the disease since 2016. Old age, acute exacerbation, treatment without antifibrotics, and exposure to wood and stone dust were associated with higher mortality.Conclusion: In the recent Korean IPF registry, the percentage of IPF patients treated with antifibrotics was increased compared to that in the previous IPF registry. Old age, acute exacerbation, treatment without antifibrotics, and exposure to wood and stone dust were associated with higher mortality.
입자 추적법을 이용한 4 밸브 가솔린 기관의 실린더 내 텀블 유동 특성

The in-cylinder flow field of gasoline engine comprises unsteady compressible turbulent flows caused by the intake port, combustion chamber geometry and the change of the spatial shape. Thus the quantitative analysis of the in-cylinder bulk flow plays an important role in the improvement of engine performances and the reduction of exhaust emission. The influences of tumble intensifying valve (TIV) and swirl intensifying valve (SIV), and various intake-flow conditions are compared with the tumble ratio obtained by the measured results of the in-cylinder gas flow. In order to obtain the quantitative analysis of the in-cylinder gas flows of gasoline engine this investigation applied the particle tracking method to the analysis of gas flow characteristics. Various intake conditions such as tumble and swirl intensifying valve, the deactivated condition of one valve among two intake valves, and the other factors of gas flow are considered.
