A surface flow visualization of a MIRA notchback reference car was conducted using a 1/4 -scale model in the POSTECH wind tunnel. The flow separation and reattachment phenomen a around A-pillar, C-pillar, backlight, and trunk were discussed with the help of the distributions of singular points such as nodes, saddles, and spiral foci. The locations of the singular points on the trunk and the backlight from experimental results are compared with those of CFD results using the turbulence modeling of RNG k -${\varepsilon}$ and RSM.

From surface flow visualization on a MIRA notchback reference model using oil flow technique, the topology of the singular points of the skin friction lines are delineated. Separation and reattachment lines at the front screen, at the A -pillar, at the C-pillar and On the rear side of the car including the trunk have been identified. It is worth to mention that two vortices emerging from the top of the trunk coil in the opposite direction as that vortices starting from the C-pillar edge. The positions of the singular points and the separation and reattachment lines and the foci of the vortices provide a sensitive database for validation of CFD-codes.

This study was carried out to find out how space allowance affect the social behavior of Korean native cattle (Bos taurus coreanae) steers. Twelve Korean native cattle (Bos taurus coreanae) steers were used as subjects, each of which was 30-month-old and observation period was from June to July 2003. Five (T1) and seven (T2) steers were allotted to two pens of $5m{\times}10m$ in a building with slate roof and open sides respectively. They were fed at 09:00 h and 16:00 h, twice a day. The behaviors of steers were recorded from 06:00 h to 17:00 h, using two color CCD cameras (Samsung SDC-411, Korea), one B/W CCD cameras (Samsung SBC-340, Korea), one multiplexer (Samsung SDM-081, Korea) and a time lapse VCR (Samsung SRV-30, Korea). The behaviors of each steer were recorded every 2 min using an instantaneous point sampling method. While the mean percentage of time budget in WA of T1 was lower than that of T2 (p<0.05), the mean percentage of time budget in SF of T1 was higher than that of T2 (p<0.05). When it gets hot, steers in T1 rested from 10:00 h to 14:00 h when it gets cool, showing 40~80% of LD rate while steers in T2 rested from 12:00 h, when it very hot to 17:00 h, showing 20~50% of LD rate, which is relatively low. Steers in T1 were fed from 06:00 h to 08:00 h when it was cool and from 16:00 h to 18:00 h, showing 20~45% of EA rate while steers in T2 were fed from 08:00 h to 14:00 h when it was hot, showing 25~50% of EA rate. In conclusion, it turned out that the number of steers affected their social behavior, and T1 was better environment than T2 in terms of welfare.

The corrosion and degradation factors of a current collector in a molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) were investigated to determine the optimized coating thickness of nickel on STS316L. The results show that the surface morphology and electrical properties depended on the nickel coating thickness. The surface morphology gradually changed from a flat to a porous structure along as the nickel coating thickness decreased, and the electrical resistance of the nickel-coated STS316L increased as the nickel coating thickness decreased. This can be attributed to the diffusion of elements of Fe and Cr from the substrate through the nickel grain boundaries. Additionally, carburization in the metal grains or grain boundaries in an anodic environment was found to influence the electrical properties due to matrix distortion. The resistance of Cr-oxide layers formed in an anodic environment causes a drop in the potential, resulting in a decrease in the system efficiency.
Gut microbiota profiling in aged dogs after feeding pet food contained Hericium erinaceus

Health concern of dogs is the most important issue for pet owners. People who have companiedthe dogs long-term provide the utmost cares for their well-being and healthy life. Recently,it was revealed that the population and types of gut microbiota affect the metabolismand immunity of the host. However, there is little information on the gut microbiome of dogs. Hericium erinaceus (H. erinaceus; HE) is one of the well-known medicinal mushrooms andhas multiple bioactive components including polyphenol, β-glucan, polysaccharides, ergothioneine,hericerin, erinacines, etc. Here we tested a pet food that contained H. erinaceusfor improvement in the gut microbiota environment of aged dogs. A total of 18 dogs, each 11years old, were utilized. For sixteen weeks, the dogs were fed with 0.4 g of H. erinaceus (HEL),or 0.8 g (HE-H), or without H. erinaceus (CON) per body weight (kg) with daily diets (n = 6per group). Taxonomic analysis was performed using metagenomics to investigate the differencein the gut microbiome. Resulting from principal coordinates analysis (PCoA) to confirmthe distance difference between the groups, there was a significant difference between HE-Hand CON due to weighted Unique fraction metric (Unifrac) distance (p = 0.047), but HE-L didnot have a statistical difference compared to that of CON. Additionally, the result of Lineardiscriminate analysis of effect size (LEfSe) showed that phylum Bacteroidetes in HE-H andits order Bacteroidales increased, compared to that of CON, Additionally, phylum Firmicutesin HE-H, and its genera (Streptococcus, Tyzzerella) were reduced. Furthermore, at the familylevel, Campylobacteraceae and its genus Campylobacter in HE-H was decreased comparedto that of CON. Summarily, our data demonstrated that the intake of H. erinaceus can regulatethe gut microbial community in aged dogs, and an adequate supply of HE on pet dietswould possibly improve immunity and anti-obesity on gut-microbiota in dogs.

본 연구에서는 반려견의 건강증진을 위해 보라지유를 사료에 혼합하여 급여하였을 경우 사료로써의 안전성을 평가하고 염증완화 효능이 있는지 알아보았다. 총 12마리의 공시견을 대상으로 보라지유 1% 또는 2% 함유된 사료를 12주간 급여 실시한 후 혈액 생화학, 혈액 세포, 사이토카인 등의 안전성 평가 실험을 실시하였다. 또한 경피 수분 손실도를 측정하여 피부 건강에 미치는 보라지유의 효능을 평가하였다. 본 급여 시험의 결과, 보라지유는 반려견의 체중, 혈액세포, 면역관련 사이토카인에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고, 경피 수분 손실도 측정 결과 역시 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 하지만, 혈액 내 젖산탈수소효소의 농도는 보라지유 함유 사료를 먹기 전과 비교하여 유의적으로 감소한 것을 확인하였다. 본 실험을 통해, 보라지유를 섭취하였을 경우 반려견에서 체중감소 및 혈액 지표 이상등의 문제점을 야기하지 않고, 오히려 체내 세포 손상 정도를 감소시키는 효과의 가능성을 확인하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해, 보라지유가 반려견 사료원료로써 안전하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다. The purpose of this study was to investigate the safety and anti-inflammatory effects of borage oil on dogs. Twelve dogs were fed on a commercial diet of 1% or 2% borage oil alone for twelve weeks. To assess safety, the changes in body weight, blood cells, and immune-related cytokines were analyzed. The results showed that there was no significant difference in body weight, complete blood count (CBC), and immunomodulatory cytokines between the dogs fed with diets without or with borage oil. Also, there was no change in transepidermal water loss (TEWL). However, the amount of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) was reduced significantly in the dogs fed on a borage oil diet. In summary, the addition of borage oil to pet food did not result in any significant health issues. Moreover, borage oil could contribute to a reduction in cell damage in aged dogs although it did not decrease TEWL. Therefore, borage oil could be safe for use in pet foods.

As the needs of wind energy increase, the more sites for the wind farm are required. As a part of searching for the prominent wind farm site, specially for offshore wind farm, we chose 4 sites along the southern part seashore of JeonNam province based on the analysis of the data gathered by meteorological observatory ud have gathered wind data for more than a year by use of 40m Met masts installed in the representative locations, ie. small islands of 4 different bay area. The siting for the Met masts were very limited by the geographical circumstances The wind data of those areas show a little lower annual average wind speeds, for the wind farm development, of 4m/s to 5.5m/s at the height of 40m above the ground level of the respective islands. The detail figures of one year wind data of those area are presented in this report.
한-중남미농식품기술협력협의체 사업에 따른 수원국의 경제적 효과 분석

South Korea is the only country that has switched its statue from a recipient of aid to a donor country that offers aid. After joined OECD/DAC in 2009, other countries are growing interest about ODA of Korea. In particular, food & agriculture cooperation initiative which is multilateral ODA of RDA in Korea is differentiated bilateral ODA. Therefore, other countries was growing interset about performance of ‘food & agriculture cooperation initiative’ Accordingly, purpose of this study is to find out the recipient countries economic effects of ‘Water management of rce project’ and ‘Cacao project’ among 3 project that are bring worked on by ‘Korea-Latin America Food & Agriculture Cooperation Initiative(KoLFACI)’ established in 2014. The best result obtained from KoLFACI projects was that project performance was significantly great despite small scale of budget invested. Economic ripple effect of water management of rice project was estimated as approximately USD 20,014,377 for upcoming 9 years in Peru and USD 6,081,463 for upcoming 9 years in Colombia. In Guatemala, economic ripple effect of training activities via cacao project was estimated USD 27,258 for project period(4 years). Also, the effect of fermentation and dry technology about Cacao in Colombia presume result. Estimation result, fermentation and dry technology effect was estimated USD 2,177,152 in Colombia upcoming 9 years. It means that KoLFACI project was technology development and distribution-centered, small scaled project with annual USD 20,000 ~ 30,000 budget, of which economic ripple effect was great in terms of low cost and high efficiency ODA project. We will search for ongoing methods that contribute to the role expansion of Korea and the agricultural development of the recipient country will be needed through the expansion and complementation of a low-cost and high efficiency ODA project such as the KoLFACI project.
