수술이 힘든 고령의 직장-S상결장암 환자에 대한 알러젠 제거 옻나무 추출물 위주의 한방치료 1례

We report a case of an 85-year old man with an adenocarcinoma of the rectosigmoid colon (clinical stage II). Though tumor was resectable, the patient was considered to be inoperable because of old age and comorbidities such as asthma, diabetes and old myocardial infarction. He wanted to receive alternative care, so he was exclusively treated with standardized Allegern-removed Rhus verniciflua Stokes (aRVS) extract and other herbal medicine such as BOJUNGIKGI-TANG GAMIBANG. During 18 months, he has shown good performance status without transfusion. This report suggests that herbal treatment including standardized aRVS for rectosigmoid colon cancer could be an alternative treatment option when it is unabled to be treated by surgical resection.

1. Objectives The incidence of Gallbladder(GB) cancer is increasing through out the world. And the death rate of GB cancer is highest compared with other kinds of cancers. We treated Stage IV GB canter with lung metastasised patient with Sasang constitutional medicine. 2. Methods We fellowed up the changes of Symptoms and QOL. 3. Results The symptoms and quality of lift(QOL) of Stage IV GB cancer with both lung metastasis patient are improved markedly by Sasang constitutional medicine. 4. Conclusions The symptoms of GB cancer with both Lung mets were effectively managed through the constitutional treatment So we report the healing process and result of this patient in this study.

1. Objectives We introduced a case of postoperation stomach cancer patient with metastasis to peritoneum and colon who suffered from repetitive diarrhea and abdominal pain. 2. Methods Stomach cancet is the most common cancer in Korea. Eventhough the 5-year survival rate of stomach cancer is increasing recently, metastasized stomach cancer does not show good prognosis, especially when the surgical operation is not applicable. After partial resection of stomach, most of patients experienced gastrointestinal disorders like dyspepsia, reduced meal size, abdominal discomfort, loose stool, and constipation. 3. Results and Conclusions Taeumjowi-tang, a Sasang Constitutional Medicine, improved the diarrhea and abdominal pain.

1. Objectives This paper reports a case of cervical cancer patient who showed positive results to Sasang Constitutional Medicine. The target symptoms were urinary disorder due to unilateral hydronephrosis and urticaria due to adverse drug reactions. 2. Methods We measured urinary output and interval. We evaluated skin urticaria by severity and size of itchy site. The patient treated using Sasang Constitutional Medicine. 3. Results and Conclusions Significant improvement was observed in urinary output and interval.

1. Objectives In this case report, We report a case of advanced non-seminomatous germ tell tumor(NSGCT) of the testis to retroperitoneal lymph node. We successfully managed with sasang medical treatment. 2. Methods We treated a man with NSGCT of testis with retroperitoneal lymph node metastasis. We evaluated pain grade by VAS(visual analogue scale). and fever grade by body temperature(by axillary thermometer) 3. Results Pain and fever were improved with the Sasang constitutional medicine. 4. Conclusions Cancer pain and fever was markedly improved by Sasang Constitutional management. Further studies are needed to evaluate the cause of the improvement.

This case report documents a case in which the administration of an herbal product, an extract of the lacquer tree, Rhus verniciflua Stokes was related with a prolonged survival in a elderly advanced non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patient. A 79-year-old man who had been diagnosed with advanced NSCLC refused conventional therapy and treatment with the allergen-removed Rhus verniciflua Stokes(aRVS) had continued from September 2007 to July 2010. He had survived for 35 months after the administration of aRVS and maintained good performance status with European Cooperative Oncology Group performance status(ECOG PS) of 1. This case suggests that aRVS be alternative treatment for the elderly advanced NSCLC patients.

This report documents a case in which the administration of an herbal product, an extract of the lacquer tree, Rhus verniciflua Stokes, as sequential and concurrent treatment with chemotherapy was associated with a long term survival and good quality of life in a patient with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). A 51-year-old Korean female was referred to the $M{\cdot}{\mu}$ Integrative Cancer Center, East-West Neo Medical centrer, Kyung Hee University for stage IV, metastatic NSCLC. She was treated with aRVS alone for 19 months and then received 1st line paclitaxel/carboplatin combined with aRVS, 2nd line gefitinib, and 3rd line pemetrexed. The number of cycles of pemetrexed administered was seventeen. aRVS was restarted as the 13th pemetrexed was administered. Pemetrexed with aRVS is currently ongoing. This patient has been alive for 41 months, and has been keeping a good performance status so far. We suggest aRVS as sequential and concurrent treatment with chemotherapy is an effective alternative treatment strategy.

Background: I investigated clinical research methodology of Traditional Korean Medicine(TKM) for treatment of lung cancer with Evidence Based Medicine(EBM) approach. Methods: I conducted the internet search of National Central Library, the National Assembly Library, Korea Education & Research Information Service, Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information for Korean theses and papers, and MEDLINE for the outside articles. Conclusion: In addition to outcomes of clinical trial, abundant clinician`s experience and patients` preference are also considered. Pragmatic trials and quasi-experimental trials are better than clinical trials to plan clinical design of TKM for lung cancer and appropriate endpoints includes overall survival, disease-free survival, patient reporting outcome.
