The rapid growth of information technology and internet based skills has an effect on the structure of production for a conventional manufacturing industry. Recently, the concept of ‘E-Manufacturing’ is used as a total solution for improving the competitiveness of company. This paper introduces the web-based monitoring/control system as a new concept to improve productivity in mold manufacturing. The primary goal of the proposed system is that it reduces load time and improves product quality in shop floor. The major functions of the proposed system are: (a) providing a transparent, seamless and automated information exchange to monitor the process remotely, (b) improving the utilization of resource through production schedule or process control, and (c) supporting the effective information using the simulation tool. The operating system is developed using the VC and OpenGL, and the system connects with internet for remote monitoring & control methods.
He-Ne 레이저와 CCD 카메라를 이용한 비접촉 3차원 측정

A fast and precise technique to measure 3-dimensional coordinates of an object is proposed. It is essential to take the 3-dimensional measurements of the object in design and inspection. Using this developed system a surface model of a complex shape can be constructed. 3-dimensional world coordinates are projected onto a camera plane by the perspective transformation, which plays an important role in this measurement system. According to the shape of the object two measuring methods are proposed. One is rotation of an object and the other is translation of measuring unit. Measuring speed depending on image processing time is obtained as 200 points per second. Measurement resolution i sexperimented by two parameters among others; the angle between the laser beam plane and the camera, and the distance between the camera and the object. As a result of these experiments, it was found that measurement resolution ranges from 0.3mm to 1.0mm. This constructed surface model could be used in manufacturing tools such as rapid prototyping machine.

A tape feeder is an important feeding device to supply micro-chips such as 1005 and 0603 components to PCB in SMT process. Traditionally, tape feeding methods using sprocket wheel mechanism has been used for the pickup system of chip-mounters. However, there is growing needs for new feeding mechanism with high accuracy and confidence as electric components are getting much smaller. Thus, recently, a tape feeder using cam-slider mechanism is developed to meet such requirements. The major advantages of developed system are; significantly reduced indexing and backlash errors, slim and compact design, and improved repetitive capacity compared to existing system. In this paper, the performance evaluation criteria for the developed tape feeder are suggested. Stability against induced vibration, positioning accuracy, cycle time, durability and supply error rate are estimated using developed self testers. As a result, the excellence of developed tape feeding mechanism is validated using the effective rating methods.
테이프 피더 내장 공압 액추에이터에 대한 신뢰성 평가에 관한 연구

This research presents the reliability analysis of the pneumatic actuator within the tape feeder that is used to transfer the correct force to linked parts during 1.0E+7 cycles. First, the degradation analysis for thrust and air leakage is executed to obtain the failure data of a product based on its performance over time. Second, once the parameters has been calculated using the weibull 2-parameter distribution and MLE(Maximum Likelihood Estimation), information related to life such as reliability, failure rate, probability density function is estimated. Finally, MTTF(Mean Time To Failure) and B₁? life of actuators are calculated. MTTF means the mean life at the confidence level and B₁? life refers to the time by which 10% of the product would fail. In this study, failure causes and solutions are examined using the reliability analysis.
정밀이송을 위한 캠-슬라이더 메커니즘 구조의 테이프 피더에 관한 연구

A tape feeder is an important part to supply a micro chip such as 1005 and 0603 components in SMT process. Traditional sprocket wheel type feeder has several problems such as backlash and indexing errors, low compatibility and confidence. However, it is very difficult to solve such problems due to the inevitable fraction defectives of sprocket wheel. Thus, the object of this works is to develop a linear type high precision tape feeding system using cam-slider mechanism. The proposed cam-slider mechanism is composed of several links and a plate, pneumatic actuator is used to generate linear motion. The proposed mechanism has distinct advantages over the conventional mechanism. It has reduced feeding errors, long life-cycle, and slim width. As a result, the developed tape feeder using cam-slider mechanism shows special characteristics for high precision feeding for chip-mounters.
비전정보와 캐드DB 매칭을 통한 웹 기반 금형 판별 시스템 개발

The target of this study is development of web based mold discrimination system by matching vision information with CAD database. The use of 2D vision image makes possible speedy mold discrimination from many databases. The image processing such as preprocessing, cleaning is done for obtaining vivid image with object information. The web-based system is a program which runs to exchange messages between a server and a client by making of ActiveX control and the result of mold discrimination is shown on web-browser. For effective feature classification and extraction, signature method is used to make sensible information from 2D data. As a result, the possibility of proposed system is shown as matching feature information from vision image with CAD database samples.

This paper is proposed web-based mold manufacturing process management system for the effective manufacturing processing management. Developed system is G-code analysis to include manufacturing information and organize according to cutting level, tool species, and tool path, etc. It is able to insert OMM(On Machine Measurement)-code in the organized G-code. And this system is developed to control remote-place manufacturing process management system by web-based Sever / Client system. So this is able to control remote-place system monitoring and mold manufacturing process management.

A new wide laser beam optical system for the laser materials processing has been developed with a polygonal mirror. It consists of polygonal mirror and cooling part that prevents the surface of rotating polygonal mirror from damage by heat. The polygonal mirrors have been designed and made as 24 and 30 facets in pyramid type. This system provides a uniform linear laser heat source with the surface scanning width from 15 to 50mm according to the scanning height. To examine the wide laser beam, He-Ne laser is used. Also, Acryl is used to confirm the laser beam pattern by bum-pattern print. to analyze the energy distribution of the wide laser beam, empirical values and theoretical values are compared and discussed. To improve the efficiency of the wide laser beam optical system, methods are suggested by the optical theories. For larger area processing like turbine blade, drawing roller, cold roller and guide plate, optimal overlapping locations have been calculated and analyzed by geometric and optical theories.
