피톤치드(모노테르펜) 농도 예측을 위한 회귀분석 기반 모델식 : 춘천 수리봉을 중심으로

Background: Due to the emergence of new diseases such as COVID-19, an increasing number of people are struggling with stress and depression. Interest is growing in forest-based recreation for physical and mental relief. Objectives: A prediction model equation using meteorological factors and data was developed to predict the quantities of medicinal substances generated in forests (monoterpenes) in real-time. Methods: The concentration of phytoncide and meteorological factors in the forests near Chuncheon in South Korea were measured for nearly two years. Meteorological factors affecting the observation data were acquired through a multiple regression analysis. A model equation was developed by applying a linear regression equation with the main factors. Results: The linear regression analysis revealed a high explanatory power for the coefficients of determination of temperature and humidity in the coniferous forest (R2=0.7028 and R2=0.5859). With a temperature increase of 1°C, the phytoncide concentration increased by 31.7 ng/Sm³. A humidity increase of 1% led to an increase in the coniferous forest by 21.9 ng/Sm³. In the deciduous forest, the coefficients of determination of temperature and humidity had approximately 60% explanatory power (R2=0.6611 and R2=0.5893). A temperature increase of 1°C led to an increase of approximately 9.6 ng/Sm³, and 1% humidity resulted in a change of approximately 6.9 ng/Sm³. A prediction model equation was suggested based on such meteorological factors and related equations that showed a 30% error with statistical verification. Conclusions: Follow-up research is required to reduce the prediction error. In addition, phytoncide data for each region can be acquired by applying actual regional phytoncide data and the prediction technique proposed in this study.

We monitored the water quality and algal communities to analyze the environmental factors that contributed to the development of cyanobacterial blooms in lake Uiam from 2012 to 2015. Anabaena species were isolated as the dominant type of cyanobacteria in the lake, and these were first observed at sites S6~S9 from June to July. The total phosphorus (T-P) concentration was estimated at 0.015 mg/L in 2015 and 0.043 mg/L in 2011, which represents a reduction of 65%. Hence, the N/P ratios in the lake also changed, i.e., the ratios were 110~130 in 2014~2015, and 40~70 in 2010~2013. The daily loads of T-P were reduced 5.3 kg/d and 8.8 kg/ d in 2014 and 2015, respectively, which were better loading rates than the value of 23.0 kg/d and 16.6 kg/d in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Algae blooms did not occur in Lake Uiam during 2014 to 2015. According to our analysis of critical environmental conditions, blooms will readily occur when N/P ratios are 20~30 and water temperatures are maintained at 20~25°C over a period of 30 days; moreover, 50~60 mm of precipitation is needed from the middle of June to early July.

Mycophenolate mofetil(MMF) is a new immunosuppressant which non-competitively and reversibly blocks the de novo synthesis of guanine nuclecotides required for DNA and RNA synthesis during lynmphocyte proliferation. So MMF selectively inhibits lymphocyte proliferation and it has less side-effects than other immunosuppressants. We described 2 cases of generalized pustular psoriasis improved with MMF. We administered MMF combined with cyclosporin in case 1 and acitretin in case 2. Both patients markedly improved with MMF administration 3 days after and had no sever side-effects. Thus the authors thought that MMF appcars to be an effective therapeutic alternative in the treatment of generalized pustular psoriasis. (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(12):1664~1649)

This is a case of mycosis fungoides (MF) in a 60-year-old woman who showed a solitary painful tumor on the left thigh. Two years ago, she was diagnosed with MF for several scaly patches on trunk and thigh and was treated with PUVA therapy. After 8 months, the patch lesion almost disappeared and she stopped PUVA therapy. One year later, she revisited hospital with 3 × 3 cm sized painful tumor on left thigh which had developed for about 4 weeks. Histopathological examination of the tumor showed diffuse infiltration of atypical lymphocytes in the dermis, consistent with tumor stage MF. There was no systemic involvement. We removed tumor by surgical excision and started PUVA therapy instead of staning systemic chemotherapy or radiotherapy immediately. Until now, tumor has not recurred and she has been managed as patch/plaque stage for 12 months. We thought that aggressive treatment methods could be delayed by surgical excision of tumor in tumor stage MF. (Korean J Dermatol 2003;41(11) : 1508∼1512)

Lipoma is one of the most common benign tumors of soft tissue which tends to be left untreated due to unremarkable clinical features and its property of slow growth. It comes to clinical attention only when it causes concern of malignancy because of inordinate size or is perceived as faults in need of cosmetic removal and consequently the incision line is, frequently long and may result in high risk of intra- and postoperative complications such as hematoma and hypertropic scars. So it requires cosmetically acceptable and convenient methods for treatment of lipoma, especially located in the exposed area. The liposuction was tried to get less complications and smaller incision line. But for deep seated variants of lipoma they tend to be less well-circumscribed and often have thick fibrous septa around the lipoma, simple liposuction showed some limitations. So we tried the new liposuction method using arthroscopic shaver for 5 patients having lipomas larger than 5 cm in diameter. The surgery was performed with arthroscopic shaver system equipped with a motorized blade rotating in the suction cannula and emulsifying the lipoma tissue for easy aspiration. The aspirated material was collected and examined histopathologically to rule out the evidence of malignancy. Lipomas were removed completely without any remarkable complications, and no recurrence was seen till three years after surgery. The new method was easier to operate and took less operation time and left only small incision line.(Korean J Dermaton 2003;41(10) : 1347~1350)
