Extrusion-Spheronization Processing (ESP) was applied to preparate sustained release spherical particles as a form of matrix spherical particle (MSP). dl-methylephedrine HCI (ME) was the drug chosen and several dissolution retardants and binders were selected to estimate a relatively good formulation on this purpose. The effect of physicochemical nature, concentration, and solvents of these dissolution retardants and binders on regularity in shape of MSP and in vitro release rate was investigated. The effect of Particle size of matrix particles was also evaluated. It is, therefore, concluded that this ESP would be a relatively good preparation method of sustained release MSP of ME which has the sustained action of about 5 and 8 hours by formulating of ethylcellulose and ethylcellulose-paraffin as a dissolution retardant, respectively, and then ethylcellulose solution of 80% EtOH is recommended as a binder.
Native and Aluminum Chelate Fluorescence of 2-(Substituted anilino) nicotinic Acids

2-Anilinonicotinic acid를 기본 화합물로한 관련 유도체의 형광특성에 미치는 치환기의 영향을 검토하였다. 각 치환기의 Hammett substituent constant와 형광파장은 직선적인 정량적 관계를 나타내었으며 각 유도체의 알루미늄 착화합물에서도 동일한 경향성을 보였다. 측정용매의 영향은 유도체 및 알루미늄 착화합물에서 공히 용매의 polarity에 대해 정성적인 관련성을 나타내었다. Substituent effects on the fluorescence of 2-(substituted anilino) nicotinic acids and their aluminum chelate compounds were examined, and satisfactory linear relationships between Hammett substituent constant, ${\sigma}$, and the lowest excited singlet energy levels were obtained. Effects of solvent on the native and aluminum chelate compounds were also investigated.

협동연구는 지식획득을 목적으로 하는 연구수행에 있어 학문적 상호보완성을 가진 효과적인 방법으로 인식되고 있다. 그러나 협동연구를 다루는 많은 연구는 거시적인 관점에서 접근하고 있으나, 연구자간의 관계를 대상으로 하는 연구는 미비하다. 따라서 우수연구센터사업의 취지와 같이 단순히 연구자 개개인의 역량의 합이 아닌 이들의 상호작용을 통해 증폭된 집단의 역량을 분석하기 위해서는 바로 협동연구의 네트워크 구조를 통해서 명확하게 알 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구는 연구센터의 네트워크 구조가 연구 성과와 어떠한 관계가 있는지에 대해서 살펴보기 위하여 과학기술부의 우수연구센터사업 가운데 반도체물성연구센터와 신소재박막가공 및 결정성장연구센터를 대상으로 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 각 연구센터가 가지고 있는 네트워크 구조의 특성에 따라 연구 성과의 차이가 나타나는 것을 알 수 있다. Research collaboration is recognized as effective method to have scientific complementarity in research activities to acquire knowledge. Specially, In order to correspond in social economy demand, form of institutionalized research collaboration appear as well as research based scientific curiosity. But, many studies that manage research collaboration are approaching from viewpoint which is macroscopic, studies that do to relationships between investigators is unprepared. Therefore, we may know definitely through network structure of research collaboration to analyze sum of capacity that is amplified through their interaction which is not each investigator's sum of capacity simply. This research analyzed about whether it is some relation research result and network structure of science research center(SRC) and engineering research center(ERC).

Extrusion-spheronization processing combination was used to produce spherical granules with experimental formulations which contain microcrystalline cellulose as a diluent. The produced granules were compared on the basis of the following physical properties; (a) particle size distribution, (b) repose angle, (c) granule density, (d) bulk density, (e) porosity, (f) friability and (g) dissolution rate. With the specific experimental formulations used in this study, the increased plate rotational speeds of Marumerizer (400-1200rpm) produced continually more spherical material and also the obtained data indicated that the particle size distribution and dissolution rate depend upon the amount of microcrystalline cellulose used. As a result, the spherical granule preparation with microcrystalline cellulose has good properties in flow rate, packing property and friability and offers a suitable method of granule preparation in pharmaceutical industry.
99mTc-HMPAO의 광학이성체 d-, l-Form의 합성과 뇌섭취율 비교

N/A Purpose: 99mTc-HMPAO is a radiopharmaceutical for imaging cerebral blood flow. HMPAO (RR, SS)-4,8- diaza-3,6,6,9-tetramethylundecan-2,10- dione bisoxime) has three stereoismers such as, meso-, d-, and l-HMPAO. Techentium complexes of meso-HMPAO and d,l-HMPAO are known to have different in vivo brain uptakes. In this study, enantiomers of HMPAO (d-HMPAO and l-HMPAO) were separated from d,l-HMPAO. These enantiomers were labeled with 99mTc and the biodistribution studies were performed in mice. Materials and Methods: An intermediate imine product was produced from 2,3-butanedione monooxime and 2,2-dimethyl- 1,3-propanediamine (54% yield) and was reduced into a mixture of three isomers (35% yield). The meso-isomer was separated from d,l-mixture by repeated fractional crystallization (11% yield). The d- and l-enantiomers were subsequently separated by co-crystallization with optical isomers of tartaric acid (25% and 5% yield, respectively). Each enantiomeric HMPAO was labeled with 99mTc by reacting with SnCl2·2H2O and 99mTc-pertechnetate. Biodistribution study was performed 1 hr after tail vein injection to ICR mice. Results: Radiochemical purities of each compound were over 80%. In biodistribution study, the brain uptakes of d,l- d- and l-form were 1.34, 1.12 and 1.67% ID/g, respectively. In case of l-Isomer the brain uptake was higher (1.5 fold) than d-isomer. Conclusion: We successfully purified each enantiomeric HMPAO. In biodistribution study of stereoismers of 99mTc-HMPAO in mice, l-HMPAO may show better brain image than d,l-HMPAO which was supplied in a commercial kit. (Korean J Nucl Med 2001;35:69-74)

A new neural network architecture for the recognition of patterns from images is proposed, which is partially based on the results of physiological studies. The proposed network is composed of multi-layers and the nerve cells in each layer are connected by spatial filters which approximate receptive fields in optic nerve fields. In the proposed method, patterns recognition for complicated images is carried out using global features as well as local features such as lines and end-points. A new generating method of matched filers representing global features is proposed in this network.

A series of biodegradable block copolymers consisting of $poly({\gamma}-benzyl\;L-glutamate)$ (PBLG) and poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)-lactoselactone were prepared by polymerization of PEO-lactoselactone and ${\gamma}-benzyl$ L-glutamate-N-carboxyanhydride and characterized by IR and NMR. From circular dichroism measurements, it was found that the polymers exist in the ${\alpha}-helical$ conformation. Block copolymer microspheres were prepared by solvent-extraction-precipitation method for their primary evaluation for medical and biological applications.
