Welding technology is applicable in many kinds of fields, with the help of its advantages such as easy operational procedure and structural simplification. However, in the process of welding, hazardous materials and fumes cause huge fire broke-outs, explosions, and health-conscious problems. Also, as heavy metals in fumes have a harmful effect on the environment, recently, this has emerged as a urgent social issue. This study has been aimed at the recommendation of the most environment-friendly, among materials currently used in plumbing welding, and it has been done at the result of the analysis of amount, ingredient, and size in collected fumes created in the experiment of welding five rods to galvanized steel pipes and steel pipe ones. At the test result, due to the effect of Zn-coating, galvanized steel pipes, when welded to rods, created more fumes than steel pipe ones. In the mean time, when it comes to welding rods, among five, WR-03 produced fumes the least. Therefore, a combination of the test results clearly indicates that the case of welding WR-03 to cast-iron pipes turned out to be the most environment-friendly.

양안와 주위에 발생된 말초 T세포 림프종

Periorbital swelling is a rather common symptom. Of the causes, the associated lymphoproliferative diseases rarely involve, and, if any, pseudolymphoma and B-cell type of lymphoma are mostly implicated. We report herein a case of unspecified peripheral T-cell lymphoma presenting as only manifestation of bilateral orbital swelling. A 32-year-old woman had a fluctuant course of bilateral mild erythematous swelling without ocular or lymph node involvement for about 2 years. Biopsy specimens from the left upper eyelid showed infiltration of medium-sized atypical cells with pleomorphism, convoluted nuclei, scant cytoplasm and less prominent nuclei. The cell was LCA, UCHL-1 and CD3 positive, but negative for L26. She received six cycles of CHOP combined therapy, with a marked improvement. No relapse was noted during a period of about a 6-month follow-up. (Korean J Dermatol 1999;37(9) : 1343∼1347)

We report herein a gigantic case of verrucous hemangioma occuring in a 15 year-old school- boy. The lesion was a dark red colored, 10.0 x 6.0 x 0.8cm sized, verrucous surfaced, hemangiomatous tumor affecting the posterior aspect of the right thigh. At birth an erythematous macule appeared and insidious]y increased or extended with age. In the last 6 months, it had grown rapidly to the size of the present lesion with a smaller satellite one, assumably ascribing to the repeated minor trauma or pressure. Histological findings from the totally excised lesion showed epidermal hyperplasia with irregular acanthosis and papillomatosis and diffuse marked proliferation and dilatation of blood vessels from the upper dermis to subcutaneous fatty tissue. Wide excision was done. There was no relapse after about one years postoperative follow up. (Kor J Dermatol 1997;35(3): 584-587)

We report a case of cutaneous B cell lymphoma in a 68-year-old male who had primarily developed two 2.0 * 2.0 * 0,6cm sized, dome shaped, dark red colored tumors on the medial side of his left thigh about 4 months previously. His general condition was good and laboratory results were within normal limits, except for the enlargement of aortocaval, paraaortic and left inguinal lymph nodes. Histopathological examinations revealed diffuse dense infiltration of large atypical cells with vesicular nuclei and large prominent nucleoli in the entire dermis. They were largely composed of centroblast and immunoblast-like cells and showed positive reactions to the leukocyte common antigen, and L26 and CD22 was related to peripheral B-cell lineage in the immunohistochemical study. The skin lesions improved completely with an m-BACOD regimen. There was no relapse over a 3-year follow-up period. (Kor J Dermatol 1997;35(2): 312-316)

We have encountered a rare case of erythema nodosum-like leukemia cutis associated with acute myelocytic leukemia(AML) in a 57-year-old male. He was in good health until about 2 weeks prior to admission, when the systemic symptoms of high fever, anorexia, general weakness and malaise, and subcutaneous nodules developed. The nodules were multiple, red and noted bilaterally on the pretibial areas. Histological findings of his skin lesions showed diffuse cellular infiltrates intermingled with leukemic cells predominantly involving the adipose tissues. The cells displayed negative stainirig to antibodies CD3 and CD20, but positive staining to LCA. The diagnosis of AML(M4) was made by blood and bone marrow studies. He had a rapid downhill course and was discharged after 2 weeks of admission, with no anti-cancer chemotherapy. (Kor J Dermatol 1997;35(3): 556 - 560)

Atypical Polypoid Dermatofibroma

Atypical polypoid dermatofibroma(APDF) represents a distinctive clinicopathologic variant of dermatofibroma. We des~<.,ribe an unusual case of APDF occuring on the right butt~ack in a 27-year old female. The lesion was a reddish-hued, rounded, hard protuberant tumor with short pedicle, measuring 2,7 x 2.7 x 1.5cm. Excised tumor showed a well circumscribed dermal le~sion loca- lized in the protruded ar~ea, and dense proliferation of fibrobl~asts and capillaries reminiseent of fi- brous or scle~rosing hema~ngioma type, with prominent focal cellular atypia. The tumor cells were vimentin-positive, but di~rl not express CD34. There was no evidence of recurrence after 18 months postoperative foll~ow-up. (Kor J Dermatol 1996;34(5): 818-822)

피부 감염을 일으키는 진균에 대한 정로환^�과 식초의 시험관내 항진균 효과

Background: Even though recent improvement of antifungal agent is remarkable, side effect makes patient hesitate to use them. Instead, mixture of Jungrowhan?? and vinegar is traditionally used and it makes contact dermatitis and secondary bacterial infection. Objective: We tested antifungal activity of vinegar and Jungrowhan?? to know their its efficacy. Method: Candida albicans (CA), Trichophyton rubrum (TR, Trichophyton mentagrophytes (TM were cultivated in Sabouraud dextrose agar admixed with various amounts of Jungrowhan?? And vinegar. We used the standard checkerboard titration for detecting synergy or antagonism of these two materials. Using the individual ingredients of Jungrowhan??, sensitivity tests were done. Results: Minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of Jungrowhan??, were 6~8mg/ml in CA, 2mg/ml in TR and 2~4mg/m1 in TM. MICs of vinegar were 0.05~O.2ml/ml in CA, 0.02~0.03ml/ml in TR and 0.01~O.02ml/ml in TM. The checkerboard titration of two materials revealed no synergism. MIC of creosote, one of ingredients of Jungrowhan??, was the same of Jungrowhan??, and the others revealed no antifungal effect. Conclusions: Even though Jungrowhan?? and vinegar showed antifungal activity, using mixture of two material revealed no synergism. Their antifungal activity does not come from its herbal ingredients but just from creosote which is a kind of phenol mixture used for antiseptics, and acid of vinegar.

Ocular MALT Lymphoma : Report of Two Cases

Lymphoma arising in mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue(MALT) is extranodal marginal zone lymphoma displaying a proliferation of follicle marginal zone-type cells(centrocyte-like cells or monocytoid B-cells), often with surrounding reactive germinal centers and lympoepithelial lesions. This typically expresses pan-B-cell markers and monotypic immunoglobulin but not CD5 or CD10. Ocular MALT consists of the lacrimal gland, lcular soft tissue, orbit, conjunctiva and cornea. Lymphoma arising in thses sites is of very rare occurrence in up to 1.5% of all patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Herein we report two cases of ocular MALT lymphoma which was very rare in the dermatologic field. Case 1, 73-year-old man, developed the right upper conjunctival swelling measuring about 2.0×2.5cm for about 1 year. Histologically, the excised lesion showed follicular centers and infiltration of centrocyte-like cells of B-cell lineage in the stroma but no lymphoepithelial lesions, consistent with low-grade B-cell lymphoma. Case 2, a 66-year-old female, had a rapid course of about 1.2×1.0cm-sized, soft, wellow mass arising from lacrimal gland of the right upper eyelid for about 1 month. Hostologically, the lesion showed diffuse patterend features admixed with centrocyte-like cells and large cells such as centroblast, compatible with high-grade lymphoma. Case 2 received combined chemotherapy of m-BACOD, with a somewhat improvement.

디지털 넌 리니어 시스템의 분석연구

Up to the 1980's, the film making process maintained the initial form without any change in the basics and the film making method was almost the same. Partial elements were changed and improved. Such changes were continued. For example, talking films emerged, the speed of filming were standardized to 24 frames per a second, the quality of screen was improved, and the camera lens became lighter. Technical development of creating a new image style also followed ceaselessly. However, the basic way that film makers used was not much different from the time the movie were invented. The development of the modern technology are remarkable in all areas. Particularly, emergence of the computer has made and is making the technology of all areas advance innovatively. Particularly, the change from the analogue age to the digital age has an enormous power to replace everything digitally. This general trend has been accelerated more and more to diversify the media, to increase the information network, and to establish new markets and new types of media. Digital film making is a new type of film making that integrates digital image processing, screen storage in the hard disk, new film making method using the computer such as the computer communication, and parts of existing film making technology. The effects that the digital technology had on the artistic and technical areas of film making was not an abrupt change but an expected result. Generally, when a new method is introduced, only after the elements that constitute the method become diversified fully, users can revaluate which point of the whole organization each element is placed in by seeing the whole organization. Similarly, in the method of digital film making, an exact phase of each element will be changed according to the development of technology. Digital technology introduced into film making will change the film making technique innovatively and change the existing concepts. Particularly, the computer and the software are used in various processes of film making and the computer has already transformed a writer' s endless imagination into real images. Film images that are converted into digital bits and stored in the computer can get a new type if they encounter a creative maker. Digital technology can process them effectively than any other conventional methods. Particularly, among digital film making methods, digital nonlinear editing system for the latter works has many merits.
