전염병 유행 단계별 인간 이동패턴과 COVID-19 전염병 확산의 역학관계 분석: 서울시를 중심으로

As COVID-19 dominates our lives, there has been a wide spectrum of research to predict infectious disease spread. However, it has not been relatively paid attention to study dynamics of disease spread with long-term human mobility, particularly for domestic cases. In this regard, this study aims to analyze long-term human mobility in Seoul to understand underlying dynamics of COVID-19 propagation and obtain insights. As a result, the correlation between the numbers of residents and confirmed cases increases as the epidemic stage progresses, showing that confirmed cases gradually follow a uniform distribution across regions, regardless of regional features. Additionally, regular movement plays a crucial role in the propagation of COVID-19 in Seoul. We expect that this study can shed light on understanding emergent phenomena across a heterogeneous social system from spatiotemporal data.

Image analysis algorithm for the quality evaluation of ginseng seedling was investigated. The images of ginseng seedling were acquired with a color CCD camera and processed with the image analysis methods, such as binary conversion, labeling, and thinning. The processed images were used to calculate the length and weight of ginseng seedlings. The length and weight of the samples could be predicted with standard errors of 0.343 mm, and 0.0214 g respectively, R2 values of 0.8738 and 0.9835 respectively. For the evaluation of the three quality grades of Gab, Eul, and abnormal ginseng seedlings, features from the processed images were extracted. The features combined with the ratio of the lengths and areas of the ginseng seedlings efficiently differentiate the abnormal shapes from the normal ones of the samples. The grade levels were evaluated with an efficient pattern recognition method of support vector machine analysis. The quality grade of ginseng seedling could be evaluated with an accuracy of 95% and 97% for training and validation, respectively. The result indicates that color image analysis with support vector machine algorithm has good potential to be used for the development of an automatic sorting system for ginseng seedling.

This study investigates the longitudinal bidirectional process between interparental conflict and children’s negative emotionality, and examines whether they predict children’s later problem behaviors. The participants were 2,150 children (1,091 boys; 1,059 girls) and their parents who participated in a large longitudinal panel study on Korean families, the Panel Survey on Korean Children of the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education. In this study, data from children aged 0–9 years were included in the analysis, and the bidirectional process between interparental conflict and children’s negative emotionality was explored from 0 to 4 years of age. Statistical analysis was conducted using a non-recursive model within a structural equation modeling framework. Both interparental conflict and children’s negative emotionality positively predicted problem behaviors at nine years of age. However, the bidirectional relationship between interparental conflict and children’s negative emotionality appeared in the opposite direction to the hypothesis at age one and was not significant thereafter. In the Discussion section, suggestions for future studies along with the clinical significance of parental conflict as a target to consider in children’s interventions are addressed.

This study examined the utilization of processed food and the recognition of food labels among 257 university students (201 females and 56 males) in Seoul and Kangwon-do. The results of the study showed that the most important considered information on food labels are shelf life, nutrition facts, and price in sequential order. Female students' recognition of nutrition facts was significantly higher than that of male students (p<0.05). Female students more attentively checked the manufacturer, origin of the products, and shelf life information on food labels than did the male students. In checking out the food labels information, the most checked items on food labels were calories, trans fatty acid and cholesterol in that order and the least checked information was the sodium contents. Among processed foods, male students' consumption was dominant in instant noodles, frozen dumplings, and canned goods, while female students had more candies/chocolates. In selecting processed foods, male students showed strong preference for cheaper and quantitative products, while female students chose more tasty, brand new, well-known brand, and products of domestic origin. Frequency of canned and frozen food consumption showed a positive correlation with BMI, while candies/chocolates showed a negative correlations with BMI. Negative correlations were found in the attitude of selecting food with longer shelf life and BMI. The results of this study suggest that university students need to be well informed to make wise food choices that contribute to a healthy diet. Additionally, food manufacturers and government authorities concerned should make certain that consumers know how to use food label information more easily and effectively through proper education.
National Trends in the Repair of Isolated Superior Labral Tear from Anterior to Posterior in Korea

Background: The optimal treatment for superior labral tear from anterior to posterior (SLAP) lesions is controversial. Thus, we aimed to investigate the national surgical trends in isolated SLAP repair in Korea. Methods: We analyzed a nationwide database from the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service from 2008 to 2017. We investigated the trends in SLAP repair by time, sex, age, and the type of health care institution. Results: From 2008 to 2017, 27,850 isolated SLAP repairs were identified. Age-adjusted incidence rate of isolated SLAP repair increased by 692% from 1.07/100,000 in 2008 to 8.48/100,000 in 2012 (P = 0.005). However, the incidence rate declined significantly after 2012 (P = 0.032) and was 5.28/100,000 in 2017. Sex-specific incidence rate of isolated SLAP repair was 2.3 times higher in men than in women. The decline since 2012 was most evident in patients aged ≥ 40 years (P = 0.01); however, the incidence rates of isolated SLAP repair during the study period were similar between patients aged ≥ 40 years and those aged < 40 years. Moreover, hospitals with 30–100 beds had the greatest change in the number of isolated SLAP repair cases. Conclusion: In Korea, the incidence of isolated SLAP repair increased dramatically until 2012; since then, it has declined. Although the decrease in isolated SLAP repair later in the study was evident in those aged ≥ 40 years, the incidence rate was still relatively high in patients aged ≥ 40 years
