Effect of Oxidizer on the Polishing in Cadmium Telluride CMP

Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is being developed for thin film of the X-Ray detector recently. But a rough surface of the CdTe should be improved for resolution and signal speed. This paper shows the study on the improvement of surface roughness and removal rate by applying Chemical Mechanical Polishing. The conventional potassium hydroxide (KOH) based colloidal silica slurry could not realize a mirror surface without physical defects, resulting in low material removal rate and many scratches on surface. In order to enhance chemical reaction such as form oxidized layer on the surface of cadmium telluride, we used hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) as an oxidizer. Consequently, in case of 3 wt% concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the highest MRR (938 nm/min) and the lowest surface roughness (R<SUB>p-v</SUB> = 10.69 nm, Ra<SUB></SUB> = 0.8 nm) could be obtained. EDS was also used to confirm the generated oxide of cadmium telluride surface.

This study has been carried out in order to improve the rolling problem by enhancing steering stability compared to the 2021 Student Car of the KNUT_EV team for KSAE. Among the various factors affecting steering performances, it was focused on the height of the centroid of weight, the motion ratio, and the spring deflection. In the 2022 Car, a pull rod suspension was used to reduce the height of the centroid of weight and designed with a structure of the rod and rocker to satisfy the target motion ratio. The spring deflection was testified by ADAMS and ABAQUS analysis, and the spring stiffness was selected at 350lb/inch and 450lb/inch for the front and rear wheels, respectively. As a result, the rolling angle of the 2022 Car was reduced compared to the 2021 Car, and the rolling phenomenon was improved.

To examine the safety of exterior joint of non-seismically designed RC buildings in Korea, the joint analysis was performed about exterior joint of building built before 1988 and having less than 5 floors. 4 school facilities and 2 office facilities are investigated. Check for Vertical load based on KCI code and Seismic design method based on ACI 318-02 21. are applied. The results show that joints connected to long-span girders or joints of narrow effective area are vulnerable.
