According to Scanlon`s buck-passing account of goodness (BPAG), the property of being good that a certain object has is itself not reason-providing; rather lower-order properties on which goodness is based provide us with reason to respond to it in certain ways. I argue that while the redundancy argument shows that we do not need the property of goodness to explain such reasons, the argument from pluralism establishes that the same property lacks the reason-providing capacity in the first place. Crisp attempts to show that goodness is actually needed for the full justification of reasons for action, though I argue that such an attempt, even under the most favorable interpretation of it, fails. Many philosophers who discuss BPAG often take it that the argument from pluralism is not necessary for working out BPAG, partly due to Scanlon`s somewhat indecisive treatment of the argument in question. Against this widespread perception, I maintain that the argument from pluralism implies what I call a conceptual skepticism about goodness and that this is a basis for showing that the property of goodness is not reason-providing. In addition, I argue that this substantive reconstruction of the argument from pluralism also helps to strengthen the validity of the redundancy argument. In the course of making these claims, I examine the view of Stratton-Lake and Hooker and Crisp that we do not need the argument from pluralism to explain BPAG. I show that they are mistaken in holding that view, both because they misinterpret the argument in question and because they accept a false dichotomy between that argument and the redundancy argument. I conclude that the best way to make sense of BPAG is to consider those two arguments in a unified way, which is a new direction that those participating in the discussion of BPAG need to take into account.

Scanlon rejects the conventional claim that intention plays a fundamental role in determining the permissibility of actions. He instead argues that in many cases intention has what he calls the “predictive significance”, according to which intention only has a derivative role in the matter of permissibility. I analyze Scanlon`s argument for this claim in terms of the “reasonable beliefs view”, thereby illuminating why he rejects Thomson`s “objective ought”. And I reply to Kolodny`s objection that Scanlon`s argument in question actually weaken`s his own position on the implausibility of the “objective ought”. Scanlon points out that in some cases intention may have a substantive role in making given actions permissible (or impermissible), which goes beyond its predictive significance. I examine this view in terms of what I call the “double-layer structure of complaints”. Lastly, by appealing to the “dualism about the moral assessment of actions”, I show that Scanlon`s claim that some cases of “harmless malice” which lack the double-layer structure of complaints are permissible does not raise a serious challenge to our intuitive response to their morality.

SNCM420 steel is one of the cam shaft materials which is used in the supply unit for ship engine cam shaft. In this study the assessment of cutting behavior was conducted for the SNCM 420 steel and SM45C steel with various cutting conditions as depth of cut 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0mm and feed rate - 0.1~0.3m/rev. The controlled chip was produced in feed rate 0.2, depth of cut 1.0 for SNCM420 and feed rate 0.2, depth of cut 2.0 for SM45C. There is no difference cutting force between SM45C and SNCM420 steels.

알고리즘의 용이성과 전역적 최적해로의 수렴가능성 등의 이점을 가진 SA알고리즘은 구조최적화문제에 활발하게 적용되고 있으나 냉각스케줄의 설정, 모호한 종료기준, 과도한 반복해석 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 기존 SA알고리즘의 단점을 보완한 MSA 알고리즘을 개발하고자한다. MSA 알고리즘은 수렴에 요구되는 반복수를 감소시키고 국부최소점이 많은 동적최적화문제의 초기설계 선택의 자율성을 확보하기 위하여 SQ 및 SA의 2단계로 구성하여 개발하였다. 또한 기존 연구에서 제안된 냉각 스케줄에 의한 수렴성 등을 비교분석하여 구조최적화에 적합한 냉각스케줄을 제안하여 그 성능을 평면가새골조 구조물의 최적내진설계에 적용하여 분석하였다. With the positive features of simulated annealing algorithms such as simplicity of the algorithm and the possibility of finding global optimum solution, SA algorithm has been widely applied to structural optimization problems. However, the algorithms are far from practical applications in structural design or optimization of building structures due to requirement of a large number of iterations and dependency on cooling schedule and stopping criteria. In this paper, with the modification of annealing process and stopping criteria, a MSA algorithm is presented in the form of two phase annealing process for optimal seismic design of braced structures. The performance of the proposed algorithm has been illustrated in detail.
