      • BPBE Cell에 의한 顔科廢水의 色度除去

        For the purpose of removing the color of wastewater containingpigment, the wastewater was electrolyzed in BPBE Cell of batch and continous type. Experimental results were summarized as follows : 1. When the wastewater containing pigment having 250㎎/l of the concentration of color was electrolyzed in BPBE Cell of batch type, suitable current value was 0.5A and than removal rate of color was 98.4%, the removal rate of Zinc, Lead and Chromium was average 3596, respectively. 2. At the result of experiments with varying pH at current 0.5A on the BPBE Cell of batch type, suitable pH was 7 and than removal rate of color was 98.8%, the removal rate of Zinc, Lead, and Chromium was average 55%, respectively. 3. When the wastewater containing pigment was electrolyzed in BPBE Cell of continuous type, the most removal rate of color at the flow rate of 5ml/min was 98.4%.

        IL-3 유도성 GATA-3에 의한 Bone Marrow-derived Mast Cell 증식 기전

        Mastocytoma is one of cutaneous mastocytosis which is a hematopoietic neoplasm characterized by excessive proliferation of mast cells. Mature mast cells have the capacity to mediate both innate and Th2-mediated immune responses. The mechanisms regulating mast cell function in vivo have largely focused on cytokines, such as stem cell factor, IL-3, IL-4 and IL-10. Despite these advances, little attention has been paid to mechanisms that proliferate mast cells. Here we report effect of GATA-3 on the proliferation of murine bone marrow-derived mast cells (BMMC) by IL-3. BMMCs are generated from unseparated bone marrow in IL-3 containing medium. GATA-3 was induced in normal BMMC, when stimulated with IL-3. GATA-3 or dominant negative GATA-3 (dGATA-3) coding expression vector was trnasfected to BMMC. These BMMCs were recovered in IL-3 containing medium. Cells were restimulated with IL-3 after starvation. BMMC-dGATA-3 exhibited low levels of proliferation contrast to BMMC-GATA-3. In addition, there were no effect on the proliferation by culture supernatant of BMMC-GATA-3 and neutralizing anti-IL-4 Ab did not block GATA-3 induction by IL-3. These results indicate that the induction of GATA-3 without autocrine cytokine induction by IL-3 represents one of the mechanisms underlying mast cell proliferation.       • 음식물쓰레기 관리의 최적화 방안 연구 : 창원, 마산, 진해시를 중심으로 Focused on Changwon, Masan, Jinhae City

        Limited landfill area and finance as well as a huge generation of waste, have called for systematic approaches towards potential cost savings. In this study, the management system of food wastes generated from the residential and commercial sources was considered in three citied; Changwon, Masan, and Jinhae city. Total thirteen alternatives were established and compared by applying the WRAP (Waste Resource Allocation Program). The following results were obtained: 1. While relatively small amounts were generated form the commercial sources such as cafeteria, restaurants, and market facilities, almost 80% of food wastes were generated from the residential sources. 2. Unit costs for food waste management in three cities were different according to their present situation, and the highest cost appeared in Jinhae city due to the most expensive construction of coastal landfill site. 3. Considering proper revenue, the whole conversion of food waste into animal feed was selected as the optimal alternative and represented 60% to 74% of management cost of the whole landfill alternative in all cities. Comparing the other alternatives, composting of food waste was more economical than the landfill alternative and the incineration was the most expensive alternative.

        지방족 할로겐화합물의 활성슬러지와 해안저질 및 점토에서의 흡탈착 특성

        This study was performed : 1) to establish the experimental analysis conditions for the sorption and desorption of toxic organic contaminants to/from the activated sludge, sediment, and clay, and 2) to determine the sorption and desorption equilibrium coefficients of some representative halogenated aliphatic compounds. Through the preliminary sorption test using Azo dye, a setting of quantitative experimental conditions to determine the sorption and desorption characteristics was decided as follows; equilibration time of 180 minutes, centrifuge for 15 minutes at 5000×g, and 500㎎/ℓ of TOC concentration. The sorption and desorption characteristics of halogenated aliphatic compounds onto activated sludge, sediment and clay could be described very well using the Freundlich isotherm. The preference of the average sorption capacity of the overall compounds showed in the sequence sediment 0.26㎎/g, clay 0.23㎎/g, and activated sludge 0.11㎎/g. The desorption rate of the sorbed compounds onto activated sludge, sediment and clay was approximately 89.8%, 35.3%, and 66.4%, respectively.

        Application of therapeutic protein-based fusion toxins

        Purpose of review: Protein-based therapeutics have been applied for decades to remove most malignant tumors. Many anti-tumor drugs using antibodies have been developed and put to practical use. However, due to limitations of antibodies such as tolerance, high molecular weight, and poor tissue penetration, new types of fusion proteins have been developed for therapeutic purposes. In this study, we review the recent therapeutic trials and improvements of fusion protein toxins. Recent findings: As a targeting moiety, non-Ig scaffolds have not only the advantages of immunoglobulin such as high affinity and selectivity, but also small size, high stability, high yield expression. As a toxic moiety, non-immunologic and highly toxic endogenous proteins of human origin like proapoptotic protein or RNase are challenged. To lessen the adverse reactions of fusion toxins, several therapeutic strategies such as removal of epitopes, increase of serum half-life were developed.

        QSAR 을 이용한 지방족 할로겐화합물 흡착 및 탈착 계수의 예측

        Sorption and desorption is an important phenomenon to determine the fate of halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons in the aqueous phase. This study was conducted to develope a predictive equation capable of estimating the sorption and desorption potentials of halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons onto the sludge from activated process, sediment, and clay. It has shown that the sorption and desorption parameters can be accurately estimated using Quantitative Structural Activity Relationship(QSAR) models based on molecular connectivity indexes of test compounds. The QSAR model could be applied to predict the sorption and desorption capacity of the other halogenated aliphatic hydrocarbons. The QSAR modeling would provide a useful tool to predict the sorption and desorption capacity without time-consuming experiments.

        음식물쓰레기 관리의 광역적 최적화 방안

        폐기물 발생량 증가뿐만 아니라 매립장 고갈과 재정부족으로 인해 폐기물처리비용 절감을 위한 계획적인 접근이 요구되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 지리적으로 연접한 경상남도 창원, 마산, 진해 3개 도시의 주거 및 상업 지역으로부터 발생하는 음식물쓰레기를 적정하게 관리하기 위한 대안틀을 설정한 후 비용평가를 위해 WRAP모델을 적용하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 집단급식소, 음식점. 시장 둥 상업시설에서의 음식물쓰레기 발생량은 비교적 적은 반면에 가정에서 발생하는 음식물쓰레기가 약 80%로 대부분을 차지하였다. 2. 음식물쓰레기 관리를 위한 톤당비용은 발생원분포 및 처리시설 위치 등의 각 도시별 상황에 따라 차이가 있었으며, 특히 해안매립지 조성에 많은 비용이 소요된 진해시에서 톤당비용이 가장높게 나타났다. 3. 음식물쓰레기 관리대안별 비교검토에서 사료판매수입을 포함하는 경우 음식물쓰레기 사료화대안이 가장 경제적인 것으로 나타났으며, 톤당비용이 매립대안의 60-70%로 나타났다. 또한 음식물쓰레기 퇴비화대안이 매립보다 경제적이었으며, 소각대안。1 7}장 비용이 많이 소요되는 것으로 나타났다. 4. 3개 도시지역이 공동으로 음식물쓰레기 처리시설들을 운영하는 광역적 관리시스템인 경우 사료화를 제외하고는 개별적 독립관리시스템으로 운영하는 대안들보다 경제적인 것으로 나타났다. 이에 따라 광역적인 관리시스템에 대한 검토가 요구된다. Unit costs for food waste management in three cities were different according to their present situation such as the type and location of major generation sources and treatment facilities. Especially, the highest cost appeared in Jinhae city due to the most expensive construction of coastallandfill site. 3. Considering proper revenue, the whole conversion of food waste into animal feed was selected as the optimal alternative and represented 60% to 74% of the management cost of the whole landfill alternative in all cities. Comparing the other alternatives. composting of food waste was more economical than the landfill a1ternative and the incineration was the most expensive alternative. 4. Some of the regional management systems using common food waste processing facilities together in three cities showed to be more economical than the single management system. Therefore. more detailed research for the regional management systems of food waste was recommended.
