화학적으로 유도한 백서 간암에서 TGF-β1 및 TGF-β type II receptor의 발현
박도윤,박강우,서강석 대한병리학회 2003 Journal of Pathology and Translational Medicine Vol.37 No.2
Background : Transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1 inhibits hepatocyte proliferation by inducing apoptosis. Expression of TGF-β1 is tightly associated with the TGF-β type II receptor (TGR2) expression level, and has been regarded as an important change of TGF-β1 and TGR2 during hepatocarcinogenesis. We investigated the gene expressions and protein localizations of TGF-β1 and TGR2 in chemical hepatocarcinogenesis. Methods : Solt and Farber’s method was used as the chemical hepatocarcinogenesis model of the rat. Northern blot analyses and immunohistochemistry for TGF-β1 and TGR2 were performed to investigate the gene expressions and protein localizations, respectively. Results : The Northern blot analyses showed a slight increase of TGF-β1 transcripts one month after partial hepatectomy, which is more than in sham operated control liver, and a decrease of transcripts for TGR2 two months after partial hepatectomy. The number of TGF-β1-positive preneoplastic hepatocytes was increased and correlated with the increase of the number of TGR2 negative hepatocytes or reduction of expressions of TGR2 in preneoplastic lesions. HCC tissues showed an increase of TGF-β1 protein expressions and a decrease of TGR2 compared to the adjacent liver parenchyme. Conclusion : Our data suggest that down regulation of TGR2 in preneoplastic lesions and HCC might contribute to the resistance to the growth inhibitory effects of TGF-β1.

Experimental liver disease models of rats have many similarities with those of humans, especially in morphological characteristics. Rat liver disease models can be categorized as models of hepatic fibrosis, hepatic stem cell and hepatocarcinogenesis. The purpose of this article is to review experimental liver disease models, with a major emphasis on morphologic features, including routine morphological, immunohistochemical, and electron microscopic features.

Atrophic gastritis and intestinal metaplasia are well-known to be reliable indicators of gastric cancer risk. They are clinically important in deciding whether to recommend endoscopic surveillance. Herein I review the histopathologic diagnosis of atrophic gastritis and IM. Gastric atrophy is divided into metaplastic atrophy and non-metaplastic atrophy. IM is categorized as complete (type I) and incomplete (type II, III). Systematic interpretation of gastric atrophy and IM using the updated Sydney system or operative link on gastritis assessment is recommended. Furthermore, I suggest using the consensus definition of gastric atrophy and incomplete IM in the gastric biopsy pathology report to support the surveillance of high-risk gastric cancer group.

This study examines the changing trends in men’s suits during the 1980s in the context of a transitional period marked by political and social changes, aiming to analyze the influx and expansion of men’s suits by a design history perspective, connected with the masculinity. The scope of the study involved selecting about 100 advertisements from the 1980s, which were aired on TV and a featured in magazines, focusing on ‘men’s suits’ and ‘tailored suits’. In addition, the 1980s was divided into three periods-early, mid and late to study the values of consumers that changed dramatically through economic growth, and during this period, men have been observed to have a desire for success, an influx of Western values, the formation of a liberated lifestyle, and the expression of individual tastes and sensibilities through fashion to shape their social identity, as analyzed through men’s suit advertisements. As a result, it can be understood that in the early 1980s, with the rapid industrialization of society, socially successful men were in the spotlight with an Western-style appearance based on traditional masculinity. In the mid 1980s, “openness” and “globalization” were set as national goals and goals through exports, and Western values were pursued through the influx of foreign cultures. After the Seoul Olympics in 1988, as the nation embraced a fully open and liberal society, it was confirmed that men’s image and masculinity was shifting from one of seriousness and authoritarianism to one that was more cheerful, soft and family-oriented. Consequently, through the men’s suit advertisements in 1980s, we can analyze the ‘change in perception of masculinity according to the political and cultural situation to see how Korean men have changed through consumption and mediating fashion, a symbolic expression culture that represents individual tastes and individuality.
