본 연구는 검도수련의 유무와 검도 수련 경력이 초등학생들의 유능성에 미치는 영향을 조사하여 일선 검도 지도자들에게 검도의 가치를 높일 수 있는 정보를 제공하고자 한다. 연구 대상은 전남 지역에 거주하는 초등학교 3학년부터 6학년까지의 학생들로 검도 수련 학생과 비 수련 학생으로 구성된다. 연구에 사용된 질문지는 Harter가 개발한 아동용 지각된 유능성 척도를 본 연구에 맞게 재구성한 내용으로 구성되며, 수집된 정보를 분석하고 제시된 가정을 검증하기 위해 일원변량분석과 T검증이 사용되었다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 설정된 가설에 입각하여 자료를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 검도 수련 학생과 비수련 학생간의 유능성에는 유의한 차가 있었다. 말하자면 검도 수련 학생이 비수련 학생보다 더한 유능성을 갖고 있다. 둘째, 검도 수련 기간에 따라 유능성에 차이가 있었는데, 특히 1년 6개월의 경력을 가진 집단이 가장 높은 유능성을 보여주었다. 이러한 결론을 통해 학령기의 검도 수련이 유능성에 긍정적 영향을 미침을 알 수 있고, 이는 검도 수련이 생활 체육으로서 그 가치가 높음을 입증해주는 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the affects of kumdo exercise and a period of kumdo exercise on the competence of elementary school students in order to provide kumdo instructors with data of use that make kumdo valuable. The subjects in this study consist of students practicing kumdo and non-practicing students from 3th grade to 6th grade who live in Jonnam province. The questionnaire used in this study is the reorganized one of the Perceived Physical Competence Subscale for Children by Harter. S. ANOVA and T-test were used to analyze the collected data and test the hypotheses posed in this study. The results of this study drawn from data analysis through the methods and the process are as follows: First, there are great differences in competence between the students practicing kumdo and non-practicing students. That is to say, the students pracicing kumdo have more competence than non-practicing students. Second, competence differs according to the degree of kumdo practice. Especially, the group who has been practicing one year and a half has much more competence than other groups. These conclusions clarify that kumdo practice in school age influences positibely on competence, and kumdo practice is of great value as practical sport.

Schwannomas are benign mesenchymal spindle cell tumors arising from the Schwann cells that form the peripheral neural sheath. Several recent studies indicate that although reports of gastrointestinal schwannomas have increased with advanced technological developments in immunohistochemical staining, isolated colonic schwannomas are extremely rare. Moreover, it is known to be somewhat difficult to diagnose colonic schwannoma before surgical operation. In this paper, we report a case of isolated schwannoma that was incidentally discovered in the ascending colon, along with a review of few recent literatures.
Effects of Fixation and Storage of Human Tissue Samples on Nucleic Acid Preservation

Background: Because of recent advances in the molecular diagnosis of cancer patients, tissue quality has become more important in daily practice. Methods: To evaluate the effects of fixative, duration of fixation, decalcification, and storage periods on nucleic acid integrity, DNA and RNA were extracted from gastrointestinal cancer tissue. The yield and purity were analyzed, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH; 60 bp), β-actin (148 bp), and human growth hormone (hGH; 434 bp) and real-time reverse transcription-PCR for β-actin (97 bp) were performed. Results: All formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) and methacarn-fixed paraffin-embedded (MFPE) samples tested positive for GAPDH and β-actin by PCR. hGH was successfully detected in all MFPE samples, but in only 46.7% of the FFPE samples. Prolonged formalin fixation resulted in fewer GAPDH and β-actin PCR products, andamplification of hGH was not successful. The PCR and reverse transcription-PCR results were significantly affected by the duration of decalcification. The yield, purity, and integrity of mRNA progressively decreased with increased storage periods of paraffin blocks. Conclusions: Fixation and storage should therefore be standardized in order to improve the quality of molecular pathologic diagnosis.
