Background: Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA is a newly developed diagnostic method which detects serum anti-H. pylori IgG antibody. The aim of this study was to assess the accuracy of Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection in Korean population. Methods Genedia : H. pylori ELISA and GAP-IgG were performed in 353 adult sera and Pyloriset-IgG EIA in 184 subjects. In children, 43 serum samples were tested with Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA. H, pylori infection was determined by rapid urease test, histology, culture or (13)C-urea breath test in adults. In children, the subject was considered to he H. pylori positive if (13)C-urea breath test was positive. Results: In adults, the sensitivity and specificity of Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA were 93.2% and 83.5% with positive and negative predictive values of 85.1% and 92.5%. Those for GAP-IgG and Pyloriset-IgG EIA were 67.2%, 82.4%, 79.3%, 71.4% and 89.1%, 88.4%, 71.9%, 96.1%, respectively. In children, sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA were 80%, 84.8%, 61.5%, and 93.3%. Sensitivity and negative predictive value of Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA were significantly higher than those of GAP-IgG (93.2% vs. 67.2%, p<0.005 and 92.5% vs 71.4%, p<0.005, respectively). Conclusion : Genedia™ H pylori ELISA is a relatively accurate method for the serodiagnosis of H pylori infection in Korean subjects compared to GAP-IgG. These results may suggest the clinical use of Genedia™ H. pylori ELISA for epidemiological studies of H. pylori infection in Korea. (Korean J Med 61:17-23, 2001)

Eleven years has passed since the guideline of the Korean College of Helicobacter and Upper Gastrointestinal Research group for H. pyori infection was produced in 1998. During this period the research for H. pyori has much progressed that H. pyori is now regarded as the major cause of gastric cancer. The seroprevalence of H. pyori in Korea was found to be decreased especially below the age of 40`s and in the area of Seoul·Gyeonggi province, and annual reinfection rate of H. pyori has decreased up to 2.94%. In the aspect of diagnostic tests of H. pyori the biopsy is recommended in the body instead of antrum in the subjects with atrophic gastritis and/or intestinal metaplasia for the modified Giemsa staining or Warthin Starry silver staining. The urea breath test is the test of choice to confirm eradication when follow-up endoscopy is not necessary. Definite indication for H. pyori eradication is early gastric cancer in addition to the previous indications of peptic ulcer including scar and Marginal zone B cell lymphoma (MALT type). Treatment is also recommended for the relatives of gastric cancer patient, unexplained iron deficiency anemia, and chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. One or two week treatment of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) based triple therapy consisting of one PPI and two antibiotics, clarithromycin and amoxicillin, is recommended as the first line treatment regimen. In the case of treatment failure, one or two weeks of quadruple therapy (PPI+metronidazole+tetracycline+bismuth) is recommended. Herein, Korean College of Helicobactor and Upper Gastrointestinal Research proposes a diagnostic and treatment guideline based on currently available evidence. Most of pharmaceutical proteins are usually produced by the animal, insect cell and yeast culture. The proteins must be produced in strictly controlled-facilities, which is one of major causes for increasing production cost. So, in spite of increasing demand on the proteins in worldwide, their generalization has been very restrictive. To decrease the production cost, many scientists have been interested in production of pharmaceutical proteins by using the plant system for a long time. The plant system must be alternative production means, for it is easily scalable, more production cost effective, and safer than animal system. For this purpose, several techniques have been developed: stable expression by transformation of nuclear and chloroplast genome and transient expression by viral vectors. Among them, the deconstructed viral vector system has made it possible to produce recombinant proteins massively, rapidly, and transiently. So, the plant viral expression systems might be a suitable platform for production of pharmaceutical proteins in plants. In this review, we will describe the plant viral vector systems and their application.

The effects of the inclination of enclosure and partition on natural convective flow and heat transfer were investigated numerically. The enclosure was composed of the lower hot and the upper cold horizontal walls and the adiabatic vertical walls, and a partition was positioned perpendicularly at the mid-height of one vertical insulated wall. The governing equations are solved by using the finite element method with Galerkin method. The computations were performed with the variations of the partition length and Rayleigh number based on the temperature difference between two horizontal walls and the enclosure height with water(Pr=4.95). The effects of the inclination angle of enclosure and partition on the heat transfer within an enclosure were also studied. As the results, the increase of the inclination angle of enclosure rapidly raised the heat transfer rate, while the inclination angle for the maximum Nusselt number was retarded with the increase of the partition length and the decrease of the heat transfer rate became larger in proportion to the increase of the partition length. The Nusselt number obtained by the inclination of partition was smaller than that of the inclination of enclosure. However, the difference of the heat transfer rates was considerably decreased at the longer partition lengths and the trends for the variation of the average Nusselt number were more similar with that of the inclination of enclosure. The upward oriented partition increases the convective heat transfer distinctly in contrast to that of the inclination of enclosure as the partition length increases.

Aldehyde dehydrogenase II (ALDH2) and arylsulfatase A (ASA) gene polymorphisms were explored for the association of alcohol dependence and/or its clinical characteristics. Polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism were used to determine the genotypic and allelic frequencies of 128 male hospitalized alcoholic patients who met DSM-IV criteria for alcohol dependence and 128 agematched healthy male control subjects. The ALDH2 genotypic frequencies in alcoholic patients were 0.992 (NN), 0.008 (ND), and 0.000 (DD), which were significantly different from those of control subjects (0.484, 0.430, and 0.086, respectively). The ASA genotypic frequencies at the pseudodeficient Nglycosylation and polyadenylation sites showed grossly no differences between alcoholic patients and control subjects. There was no association between genotypic distributions of ALDH2 and ASA and clinical characteristics of alcohol dependence. These results suggested that the D allele of ALDH2 gene has a protective role against alcohol dependence. The further extensive researches for the relationship between alcohol dependence and the pseudodeficient ASA gene polymorphisms are required.
인스타그램 유저들의 예외적 해시태그(hashtag) 이용 행태 연구

본 연구는 유사한 정보의 군집화를 통한 검색의 효율성을 위해 트위터에서 시작된 해시태그와는 달리 사용자의 자의적 변용에 의하여 그 역할과 기능의 확산을 보여주는 인스타그램에서의 예외적 이용 행태에 대한 실증적 고찰과 함의 분석을 목적으로 한다. 트위터 기반의 해시태그 관련 선행 연구 분석을 통해 도출된 정보 제공형과 참여 유도형은 인스타그램 유저들 사이 에서도 가장 활발하게 사용되는 형태이며 이와 함께 ``팔로워의 수적 증가`` 및 ``콘텐츠 노출 빈도 증가``에 해당하는 노출형은 개인의 정체성 및 자의식표출과 깊게 연계된 행동으로 소셜 미디어를 구성하는 기본적인 요인이라고 할 수 있다. 한 편, 예외적 이용 행태로 분류된 ``언어 유희형``에는 보다 적극적인 개인 큐레이션을 목적으로 구현된 사적 폭소노미와 다양한 해석을 창출하는 해시태그 활용 댓글을 들 수 있다. 자신만의 독특한 언어 사용으로 자의적 범주화를 구축하거나 유희성과 진정성을 동시에 포함하는 댓글을 통해 텍스트를 넘어 시각 콘텐츠를 포함하는 스토리텔링의 확산을 가능하게 하는 이러한 유저들의 행동은 소셜 미디어 공간을 재미와 몰입 및 도전의 공간으로 변화시키며 가치를 발견하는 일종의 개발자로서의 양태를 엿보게 한다. 다시 말해 가시적으로 드러나는 언어 유희성 내면에는 참여적 커뮤니케이션 공간을 촉진시키며 발전하는 소셜 미디어 사회 구성원들의 잠재력이 존재한다고 할 수 있다. While hashtags have been used as bookmarks of contents which link with similar topics by clustering information in Twitter, their roles and functions in Instagram have been modified by users. This article investigates the unexpected usages of hashtag users`` in Instagram and examine their implicit points. Empirical findings revealed that both increasing numbers of followers and making high frequency of contents`` exposure are users`` main purposes of using hashtags along with informative hashtags and meme hashtags drawn from literature reviews. It is regarded as these basic usages of hashtags not only grew from a basic human need to express one``s identity and self-consciousness but also have functioned as basic component of social media. Another but mostly emphasized finding of the unexpected usage of hashtags is the form of language pun consisting of users`` arbitrary folksonomy and feedbacks with polysemy. Emphasis is on the fact that users are becoming more active prosumers who are able to pursue the value in the social network space where they can enjoy emotional flow and challenges as well. In conclusion, the unexpected usages of hashtags in Instagram imply the potential of possibility to be further developed as more participatory space besides the active users`` voluntary modification according to their intention.
