An experiment was conducted to examine the effects of Kalopanax pictus Nakai (Kalopanax) on in vitro rumen fermentation and methane (CH4) reduction. Kalopanax trunk was extracted with 70% ethanol and 70% methanol. Rumen fluid, alfalfa hay and buffer (control: C) supplemented with 0.3% Kalopanx juice (T1), 0.3% ethanol extract (T2) and 0.3% methanol extract (T3) in the total volume of culture medium were incubated at $38^{\circ}C$ for 24h and 48h. Rumen pH was lower in all Kalopanax treatments during all incubations than that in control (p<0.05). Total VFA and total gas production in T2 and T3 was significantly higher than that in C at 48h incubation (p<0.05). Ammonia-N was decreased in all treatments compared with C during the incubation periods (p<0.05). At 24h incubation, $CH_4$ contents were significantly reduced by both alcohol extracts. It is concluded that supplementing Kalopanax extracts can stimulate ruminal fermentation of rumen microorganisms and inhibit methanogenesis.
대신호 시영역 모델을 이용한 광섬유 격자 외부 공진 레이저 다이오드의 해석

본 논문에서는 RLD (Reflective Laser Diode)와 FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating)가 하이브리드 집적된 LD (이하 FG-LD)의 정적 및 동적 특성을 해석하기 위하여 대신호 시영역 모델링 방법을 구현하였다. FBG의 유효길이 2.1 mm를 포함한 외부 집적 공진기의 길이가 8 m인 경우에 0.44GHz의 동적 주파수 요동과 6.4 GHz 정도의 동적 주파수 요동 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 10 Gbps NRZ 신호의 아이가 크게 오픈된 상태를 잘 유지함을 확인하였다. FG-LD는 50 km 정도의 길이를 커버하는 10 Gbps 급 단일파장 레이저로서의 효용성이 있을 것으로 기대된다. A large-signal time-domain model is implemented to analyze an FG-LD (Fiber Grating Laser Diode) in which a reflective laser diode is hybrid-integrated with a fiber Bragg grating (FBG). When the length of the externally integrated resonator is 8 mm, in which the effective FBG length of 2.1 mm is included, a static frequency chirp of 0.44 GHz and a dynamic frequency chirp of 6.4 GHz are observed. In addition, it is also observed that the eye of the 10Gbps NRZ signal is well open. The FG-LD is expected to be a cost-effective solution for a 10Gbps-class single wavelength laser covering a span of 50 km range.
2013년 하계 국내 연안에서 출현하는 Alexandrium 속 와편모류의 종 다양성

We investigated the occurrence of the dinoflagellate genus Alexandrium in the nineteen Korean coastal sites from July to October 2013. Alexandrium-like planktonic cells were microscopically observed only in four out of the 19 sampling sites. From the samples containing Alexandrium-like cells 22 clonal cultures of Alexandrium species were established by single cell or single chain isolation method. Taxonomic identity of the 4 different strains ascertained by the robust analyses of morphological and molecular genetic characteristics were confirmed to be A. catenella, A. affine, A. fraterculus and an unidentified Alexandrium sp. for which strain WEB-Alex-01 was assigned. It was ascertained that in spite of hot summer diverse Alexandrium species attaining up to four were distributed in the study area, in contrast with the long empirical recognition that the emergence of Alexandrium species is restricted to cooler seasons like spring or autumn in Korean coastal waters. Morphology and genetic characteristics of Alexandrium sp. strain WEB-Alex-01 are different from any other previously reported Alexandrium species from Korean seas, which implies that further studies on taxonomic, physiological, ecological and toxicological properties of the newly recorded Alexandrium species are needed. 국내 연안에서 하계에 출현하는 Alexandrium 속 와편모류의 종 다양성 연구를 위해, 2013년 7월부터 10월까지 19개 정점에서 해수 시료를 채취하였고, 이 가운데 4개 지역에서 Alexandrium 속의 와편모류가 확인되었다. 해당 4개 해수 시료에 단세포/단세포사 분리법을 적용하여, 총 22 종류의 Alexandrium 단종배양체를 확립하였다. 이 가운데 4종류의 Alexandrium 단종배양체에 대한 형태학 및 유전학적 특성을 분석한 결과, 각각 A. catenella, A. affine, A. fraterculus 및 Alexandrium sp.(strain WEB-Alex-01)인 것으로 확인되었다. 우리나라 연안에서 일반적으로 Alexandrium이 춘계 또는 추계의 중수온기에 주로 출현하는 것으로 알려진 바와는 대조적으로, 다양한 Alexandrium 종들이 하계에도 출현함을 확인하였다. 미동정 Alexandrium sp.(strain WEB-Alex-01) 종주는 국내 최초 보고 종으로서, 이 단종배양체에 대한 분류, 생리, 생태, 독성 등에 관한 추가적인 연구가 필요하다.
Al 5052 합금의 저입열 Pulse MIG 최적 현장 용접조건 산정에 관한 실험적 연구

The weight reduction of the transportations has become an important technical subject Al and Al alloys, especially Al 5052 alloys have been being applied as door materials for automobile. One of the most widely known car weight-reduction methods is to use light and corrosion-resistant aluminum alloys. However, because of high electrical and thermal conductivity and a low melting point, it is difficult to obtain good weld quality when working with the aluminum alloys. Also, Pulse MIG welding is the typical aluminum welding process, but it is difficult to apply to the thin plate, because of melt-through and humping-bead. In order to enhance weld quality, welding parameters should be considered in optimizing the welding process. In this experiment, Al 5052 sheets were used as specimens, and these materials were welded by adopting new Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) pulse process. The proper welding conditions such as welding current, welding speed, torch angle $50^{\circ}$ and gap 0~1mm are determined by tensile test and bead shape. Through this study, range of welding current are confirmed from 100A to 120A. And, the range of welding speed is confirmed from 1.2m/min to 1.5m/min.
