Rock mass rating (RMR) values along additional drifts that are to be constructed during mine site redevelopment (Gagok mine, Korea) were estimated using multiple criteria indicator Kriging with borehole RMR and electrical resistivity tomography data. This study outlines two potential correction methods that supplement indicator Kriging and that can reduce error, allowing more accurate estimation of RMR values. The correction methods used a filtering of indirect data affected by drifts (FIED) method to reduce uncertainties and errors within electrical resistivity tomography data caused by changes in setup and the location of existing drifts. In addition, a correction indicating accurate representation of indirect data (CARI) method was used to resolve distortions in drilling log results. This meant that 73 % of the estimated RMR values were assigned to the correct RMR class, with only 1 % of these values being overestimated. The sensitivity of the FIED method was 4 %, with the linear CARI method having a sensitivity of 56-60 % and the logarithmic CARI method having a sensitivity of 61-65 %.
Improving microwave dielectric properties of La2.98/3Sr0.01(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics with CuO additive
Yih-Chien Chen 한국물리학회 2012 Current Applied Physics Vol.12 No.2
The microwave dielectric properties of CuO-doped La2.98/3Sr0.01(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics were investigated with a view to their application in microwave devices. CuO-doped La2.98/3Sr0.01(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state method. The X-ray diffraction patterns of CuOdoped La2.98/3Sr0.01(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics exhibited no significant variation of phase with sintering temperature. By adding 0.75 wt.% CuO, a dielectric constant of 20.07, a quality factor (Q × f) of 63,000 GHz, and a temperature coefficient of resonant frequency sf (-77.0 ppm/℃) were obtained when La2.98/3Sr0.01(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics were sintered at 1500 ℃ for 4 h.
RETURNS TO HUMAN CAPITAL AND WAGE INEQUALITY: THE CASE OF TAIWAN
YIH-CHYI CHUANG,WEI-WEN LAI 중앙대학교 경제연구소 2017 Journal of Economic Development Vol.42 No.3
To compare with the literature on Taiwan study of wage inequality by the turn of Twenty-First Century, using Taiwan’s 1978-2003 Manpower Utilization Survey data, this paper estimates the trends of returns to education and experience and investigates the relationship between returns to human capital, ability, and wage inequality. Over the period, return to higher education has an increasing trend while the wage inequality reveals a declining tendency, a phenomenon also contradicted to existing literature, e.g., Castelló-Climent and Doménech (2014). Using quantile regression, we further discover the relations between human capital accumulation and unobserved ability, i.e., education and ability are substitutes while experience and ability tend to complement each other. Education enables those less able people to improve upon their disadvantages and thus improve wage inequality. Moreover, wage inequality is lower in females than in males for every educational level and more experienced groups. Contrary to the existing literature, Taiwan’s empirical study demonstrates that the increasing employment share of more educated workers and/or females will improve instead of worsen wage inequality. Policy implications are also discussed based on Taiwan’s experience.

This paper is devoted to the development of the equations which describe the elastic response of a curved laminate subjected to in-plane loads and bending moments. Similar to the classic 6 × 6 ABD matrix constitutive relation of a flat laminate, a new 6 × 6 matrix constitutive relation between force resultants, moment resultants, mid-plane strains and deformed curvatures for a curved laminate is formulated. This curved lamination theory will provide the fundamental basis for the analyses of curved laminated structures. The stress predictions by the present curved lamination theory are compared to those by the curved laminate analysis that neglected the nonlinear terms in the derivation of the constitutive relation. The results show that the curved laminate analysis that neglected the nonlinear terms cannot reflect the effect of curvature and can no longer predict the stresses accurately as the curvature becomes noticeable. In this paper, a curved lamination theory that retains the nonlinear terms and, therefore, accounts for the effect of the non-flat geometry of the structure will be developed.
Microstructures and microwave dielectric properties of La1-xBx(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics
Yih-Chien Chen,Yen-Nien Wang,Wei-Cheng Lee 한국물리학회 2012 Current Applied Physics Vol.12 No.3
The microwave dielectric properties of La1-xBx(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics were examined with a view to their exploitation for mobile communication. The La1-xBx(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state method with various sintering temperatures. The X-ray diffraction patterns of the La0.995B0.005(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics revealed no significant variation of phase with sintering temperatures. A maximum apparent density of 6.58 g/cm3, a dielectric constant (εr) of 19.8, a quality factor (Q × f) of 41,800 GHz, and a temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (sf) of -86 ppm/℃ were obtained for La0.995B0.005(Mg0.5Sn0.5)O3 ceramics that were sintered at 1500 ℃ for 4 h.
