Background and Object: The aim of this study is to evaluate the change of patient's subjective voice handicap index (VHI) and acoustic parameters before and after laryngeal microsurgery for benign vocal cord disease. Materials and Method: We analyzed 78 patients who received laryngeal microsurgery for benign vocal cord disease from January 2004 to February 2007 retrospectively. There were 28 vocal polyp, 40 vocal nodule, 5 intracordal cyst and 5 Reinke's edema. Jitter, shimmer, harmony to noise ratio (HNR) were analyzed before surgery and 2-3months after surgery using the Doctor's speech science program. The voice handicap index introduced by the Pittsburgh Voice Center was used to examine patient's subjective change of voice quality. Results: Acoustic parameters of jitter, shimmer and HNR were improved in patients with vocal polyp and vocal nodule after surgery. The acoustic parameters were not improved in patients with Reinke's edema, statistically. Only jitter was improved significantly in patients with intracordal cyst (p<0.05). The VHI was significantly improved after surgery. The change of jitter and shimmer was significantly correlated with the change of VHI after surgery. Conclusion: The acoustic parameters and VHI were significantly improved in patients with benign vocal disease after laryngeal microsurgery.
다공질 실리콘의 광발광에 관한 계면활성제 PDFO 효과

Effects of an anionic surfactant pentadecafluorooctanoic acid on the photoluminescence of porous silicon was investigated, which was prepared by photoelectrochemical etching at 4V of single crystalline n-type silicon (100) with the specific resistivity of $0.4\~0.8{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$. Photoluminescence shifted to shorter wavelength and its intensity decreased when the concentration of the surfactant increased. FT-IR and contact angle data supported the presence of the surfactant lying on the surface of porous silicon. 광전기화학적 양극 산화법으로 다공질 실리콘 (porous silicon, PS)을 제조할 때 전해질에 음이온성 계면활성제의 한 종류인 Pentadecafluorooctanoic acid (PDFO)를 첨가하여 제조한 PS의 광발광(photoluminescence, PL)의 변화를 조사하였다. 사용한 웨이퍼는 비저항이 $0.4\~0.8{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$인 n-형 단결정 실리콘 (100)이었으며, 일정전위 4V를 600초 동안 걸어주어 다공성 실리콘을 제조하였다. 이 때 나타난 PL의 변화는 첨가한 계면활성제의 농도가 1mM에서 50mM로 증가함에 따라서 PL의 중심파장이 600nm에서 550nm로 단파장 이동함을 보여주었으며, PL의 세기는 감소함을 보여주었다. FT-IR을 사용하여 에칭된 다공성 실리콘 위에 PDFO가 존재함을 알 수 있었고 Goniometer를 사용한 물방울 각도 측정을 통해서 생성된 표면이 소수성임을 알 수 있었다. 이로부터 계면활성제의 소수성 부분인 포화탄화불소 사슬 부분이 표면에 전체적으로 누워있다고 유추하였다.
도로터널 내 공기질 측정과 Bag Filter를 이용한 미세먼지 제거 성능평가

수도권에 있는 4개 도로터널을 선정해 오전 7시부터 오전 9시까지 미세먼지와 벤젠을 측정한 결과 PM10은 $111{\sim}268{\mu}g/m^3$으로 연간 대기환경기준치인 $50{\mu}g/m^3$을 2~5배 이상 초과하였고 PM2.5는 $35{\sim}65{\mu}g/m^3$으로 대기환경기준치인 $25{\mu}g/m^3$을 1.5배~2.5배 초과 하였다. 벤젠의 경우 300~500 ppb로 나타나 대기환경기준치인 1.5 ppb의 200~330배 초과하였다. 국내 장대터널에서 4개월 연속 측정한 결과 PM10의 경우 $30{\sim}400{\mu}g/m^3$으로 나타났고 Bag filter를 이용한 PM10의 제거효율은 97% 이상으로 나타나 향후 터널 내 대기질 개선에 기여할 것으로 판단된다. 벤젠의 경우 250~350 ppb로 측정되었다. Air quality was monitored in four roadway tunnels located near Seoul metropolitan area from 7:00AM to 9:00AM. PM10 concentrations range $111{\sim}268{\mu}g/m^3$, which are 2~5 times higher than annual standard $50{\mu}g/m^3$, and PM2.5 concentrations range $35{\sim}65{\mu}g/m^3$, which are 1.5~2.5 times higher than annual standard $25{\mu}g/m^3$. Benzene concentrations range 300~500 ppb, which are 200~300 times higher than 1.5 ppb which is air quality standard. Four-month long term air quality monitoring and test results in one of long tunnels show that PM10 range $30{\sim}400{\mu}g/m^3$ and over 97% of them can be removed by bag filter, effectively. Finally, benzene concentrations range 250~350 ppb.
BEMT에 의한 100kW 풍력터빈 블레이드 기본설계 및 출력 성능해석

In this study, mathematical expressions based upon the conventional BEMT(blade element momentum theory) was applied to basic 100kW wind turbine blade configuration design. Power coefficient and related flow parameters, such as Prandtl's tip loss coefficient, tangential and axial flow induction factors of the wind turbine were analyzed systematically. X-FOIL was used to acquire lift and drag coefficients of the 2-D airfoils and Viterna-Corrigan formula was used o interpolate he aerodynamic characteristics in post-stall region. Also, aerodynamic characteristics, measured in a wind tunnel to calculate he power coefficient was applied. The comparative results such as axial and tangential flow factors, power coefficients were presented in this study. Power coefficient, calculated by in-house code was compared with the GH-Bladed result. The difference of the aerodynamic characteristics caused the difference of the performance characteristics as variation as TSR.
Detection of Nitroaromatic Compounds Based on Fluorescent Silafluorene Chemosensors

A simple and rapid method is described for detecting nitroaromatic explosives in air or seawater with the use of photoluminescent organosilicon compounds. The synthesis, spectroscopic characterization, and fluorescence quenching efficiency of silafluorenes are reported. Silafluorenes were synthesized from the reduction of dilithiobiphenyl with dichlorosilanes. Two silafluorenes were used for the detection of nitroaromatic compounds. Detection of nitroaromatic molecules, such as 2,4-dinitrotoluene (DNT), 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT), and picric acid (PA), has been explored. A linear Stern-Volmer relationship was observed for the first three analytes. Fluorescence spectra of silafluorenes obtained in either toluene solutions or thin films displayed no shift in the maximum of the emission wavelength. The photoluminescence quenching occurs by a static mechanism.
