Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between teaching effectiveness and clinical practice satisfaction among nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 107 junior and senior nursing students in E university. Data were collected using self-reported questionnaire including general and practicum related characteristics, teaching effectiveness of clinical instructors and clinical practice satisfaction from September 12 to September 21, 2011. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 19 program using t-test, ANOVA with Scheffe test, and Pearson`s correlation coefficients. Result: The mean score of teaching effectiveness was 3.35(±.51), and mean of clinical practice satisfaction was 3.19±.47. There were significant differences of teaching effectiveness of clinical instrutor by satisfaction of overall clinical practicum(F=8.332, p<.001), satisfaction of practice hour(F=3.230, p=.044), and satisfaction of major(F=9.883, p<.001). There were significant differences of clinical practice satisfaction by grade(t=2.274, p=.025), motive of choosing nursing science as a major(F=3.329, p=.007), satisfaction of overall clinical practicum(F=17.437, p<.001), satisfaction of practice hours(F=9.925, p<.001), and satisfaction of nursing major(F=12.748, p<.001). Relationship between teaching effectiveness of clinical instructor and clinical practice satisfaction showed positive correlation(r=.704, p<.001). Conclusion: In this study, teaching effectiveness of clinical instructor was related with clinical practice satisfaction. Therefore, we should consider improving teaching effectiveness of clinical instructor to improve clinical practice satisfaction.
Acupuncture inhibits liver injury induced by morphine plus acetaminophen through antioxidant system

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P><B>Introduction</B></P> <P>Morphine (MP) and acetaminophen (APAP), widely used-pain relievers and antipyretics, are known to induce hepatotoxicity. Acupuncture, a traditional therapy in Asia, is used for various reasons including detoxification. This study aimed to examine whether acupuncture exerts protective effects against MP+APAP-induced hepatic damage.</P> <P><B>Methods</B></P> <P>Male Sprague-Dawley rats received chronic MP, withdrawal, and APAP. Thereafter, blood and liver were taken. Acupuncture was performed once daily. Asparte aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) levels were measured, and percentages of abnormally decreased-hepatocyte regions, mean liver cell counts, and mean inflammatory cell numbers infiltrated on hepatic parenchyma were examined. In addition, antioxidant effects were evaluated based on liver lipid peroxidation malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione (GSH) contents, superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activities with the number of immunopositive hepatocytes against nitrotyrosine (NT) as a marker of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) related-oxidative stresses and 4-hydroxynonenal (4HNE) as a marker of lipid peroxidation.</P> <P><B>Results</B></P> <P>Significant elevations of AST and ALT were noted of MP or APAP. They also induced an increase in MDA contents as well as decreases in GSH levels and activities of SOD and CAT activity. A centrolobular decrease in hepatocytes along with degenerative changes of hepatocytes were also observed, and increases of NT and 4HNE immunoreactive hepatocytes were shown. These hepatocellular damages were more severe with the combination of MP+APAP. However, these MP+APAP-induced hepatic damages were significantly inhibited by acupuncture.</P> <P><B>Conclusion</B></P> <P>This study suggests that acupuncture may have a protective effect against the MP+APAP-induced hepatic damage through the amelioration of antioxidant defense systems.</P>
Transcriptional regulation of Egr-1 by overexpression of Phospholipase C-γ1

The early growth response 1(Egr-1) gene product is a transcription factor that contains three zinc-finger motifs in the DNA-binding domain and preferentially binds to GC-rich regulatory elements. The importance of Egr-1 in the regulation of cell proliferation and tumor formation was demonstrated in various experiments that showed that stable overexpression of Egr-1 inhibited DNA synthesis and tumorigenicity in various model cells. Phospholipase C(PLC)-γ1 plays a central role in cellular proliferation by triggering the formation of two second messengers, DAG and IP₃. Recently, it has been reported that overexpression of PLC-γ1 in murine 3Y1 fibroblasts leads to transforming activities. To explore the role of PLC-γ1 overexpression in tumorigenesis, we examined the effects of PLC-γ1 overexpression on tumor suppressor Egr-1 gene induction. Egr-1 mRNA was induced within 30 min of BCS treatment in vector transfected control cells(3Y1/vec), while completely suppressed in PLC-γ1 transfected 3Y1 fibroblasts(3Y1/γ1). In contrast, c-myc mRNA level was enhanced after BCS treatment in 3Y1/γ1 cells as compared with that in 3Y1/vec cells. Using human Egr-1 5' flanking deletion constructs, we demonstrated that a distal Serum Response Element(SRE) is necessary to suppress Egr-1 induction by PLC-γ1. EGF-and PMA-induced Egr-1 transcriptional activity is suppressed by PLC-γ1 in a dose-dependent manner, and constitutively active mutant of PLC-γ1 inhibited dominant active Ras- or MEK1-induced Egr-1 transcriptional activity. In addition, constitutively active mutant of PLC-γ1 was able to inhibit dominant active Ras- or MEK1-mediated SRF DNA binding activity. Taken together, these findings indicate that PLC-γ1 overexpression can regulate the Egr-1 gene induction via controlling the SRF DNA binding activity.

The multicolored Asian ladybird beetle, Harmonia axyridis, which demonstrates typical genetic polymorphism in its elytra color patterns. Early studies have color polymorphism in terms of geographical clines while a few investigated temporal populations in Coccinellidae. Nevertheless, note that geographical and temporal morph variation does not always correspond to what is expected from thermal and industrial adaption theories. A recent study of transformation and RNAi of the ladybird beetle, however, there is yet no evidence to indicate the variation is genetic or environmental factors. Here we describe a relatively new molecular fingerprinting technique, amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP). Because we think that color polymorphism in Coccinellidae is affected by genetic polymorphism. In total 38 markers were scored from which some markers were polymorphic. Supsequent UPGMA cluster analysis revealed 3 major group of Harmonia axyridis populations. But for strains that are more genetically similar, different primer combinations may be need to generate enough polymorphic marker.
Fungal Pathology in Hard Tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis

The hard tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis (Ixodida: Ixodidae) is one of the vectors of severe fever with thrombocytopeniasyndrome virus (SFTSV) causing in humans, however little consideration was given to the biological control of the pest.We evaluated three bioassay methods, such as spray, dipping and dropping. As a result, the dipping method was themost efficient way to measure the fungal virulence. Finally, we constructed a Haemaphysalis longicornis pathogenic fungallibrary to further facilitate the resources to be used as potential biological control agents. A conidial suspension of 1×107conidia/ml was exposed to the ticks by dipping. We confirmed that some isolates were highly virulent to the ticks. Thisresults indicated that some fungi could be used to effectively control the Haemaphysalis longicornis.

The main contents of this paper is to design a system that can remote control the most of the LED lighting device in the market. In order to realize the device driver, we choose the communication mode Zigbee, PLC, RS232 and RS485. Using client-server system, LED lighting device can be controlled just through web browser.
Evaluation of Entomopathogenic Fungi for the Control of Hard Tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis

The hard tick, Haemaphysalis longicornis (Ixodida: Ixodidae) is one of the vectors of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) causing in humans, however little consideration was given to the biological control of the pest. Therefore, this study provides a screening method to select entomopathogenic fungi, having high virulence against H. longicornis. The virulence test was conducted by dipping method with a conidial suspension (1×107 conidia/ml). As a result, cadavers of H. longicornis infected with entomopathogenic fungi were obtained by this method. Based on this results, we selected several isolates having high virulence to H. longicornis. We suggest that, selected isolates in this study can be used for the control of H. longicornis.
