The purpose of this study was to investigate the opinions of selected members of teaching staffs and administrator concerning the effective method to pursue the Saemaul Movement throughout the country. A sample of 82 educational institutions was used to draw the process of Saemaul education. The major scope of this study is as follows : ① Educational facilities and institutions ② Man power and teaching staff ③ Curriculum ④ Finance Responses of the teaching staff to the opinionnaire were collected and analized in terms of percentages for each of twenty one statements. A return of 59.5 percent by the respondents was collected by mail. An analysis of the information resulting from this study led to the following conclusions : 1.A Saemaul education training institute should be a training center for leaching staff members and faculties. 2.A contribution to the Denmark reconstruction due to the erect of social education. 3.The education development of national spirit should be studied by general public school and during the summer vacation. 4.Curriculum should be organized to enlighten the security of the nation, patirotism, and value system. 5.The foundation of social education should start from the Saemaul education. The important direction of Saemaul education should be organized as follows : 1.A Saemaul education should stress the spiritual education for insuring substantiality of the national development and public livehood. 2.A Saemaul education should be organized and emphasized the harmony and unification of the nation. Consequently, the comprehensive institution of Saemaul Movement should establish to pursue the effectiveness of them.

중국거주 조선족 여성의 영적 안녕정도가 정신건강에 미치는 영향

자아초월 정신의학이 체계화되면서 영성(spirituality)은 인성의 한 부분이라는 이론이 대두되었는데 이 영성은 정신건강에 큰 영향을 미친다고 했다. 인간의 성향 중 영적 안녕 정도를 파악하여 그 정도가 정신건강 중 허위성 경향, 정신병적 경향 및 불안과 우울 경향 등에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 조사하고저 본 연구를 실시하였다. 대상은 중국의 연변 조선족 자치구에 거주하는 여성 400명을 대상으로 하여 한국판 영적 안녕척도를 사용하여 영적 안녕정도를 파악하였다. 영적 안녕척도의 총점과 이 척도의 2개 하위 척도인 종교적 안녕과 실존적 안녕 척도 양자로 평가한 성적이 불안-우울통합척도와 정신분열증 척도 및 허위성 척도로 평가한 성적에 미치는 영향을 검증하기 위하여 상관관계분석 및 회기분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 1) 영적 안녕척도로 평가한 조선족 여성의 총점은 68.29로 한국의 기독교 여성이 평가한 100.65보다 훨씬 낮은 점수였다. 2) 불안·우울통합척도로 평가한 총점은 44.88로 연변노인이 평가한 점수와 일개지역의 한국농촌주민이 평가한 점수와 비슷한 결과였다. 3) 허위성 척도로 평가한 성적은 평균 74.57로 70점 이상이 86%(344명)이었으나 영적 안녕 성적과 허위성 성적 간에는 유의한 상관이 없었다. 4) 영적 안녕총점은 정신분열증 척도로 평가한 정신병적 경향에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았으나 종교적 안녕하위척도의 성적은 정신병적 경향을 높여준데 비하여 실존적 안녕하위척도의 성적은 정신병적 경향을 낮게 해주었다. 5) 영적 안녕척도의 총점 및 두 하위척도인종교적 안녕과 실존적 안녕은 불안과 우울에유의한 상관을 보였는데 영적 안녕총점이 높을수록 불안·우울 총점이 다소 낮아지는 경향을 보였다. 6) 종교적 안녕 하위척도와 불안과 우울과의 관계는 종교적 안녕점수가 높을수록 불안과 우울을 각각 다소 유의하게 높여주었으며 이에 비하여 실존적 안녕하위척도와 불안과 우울과의 관계는 실존적 안녕정도가 높을수록 불안 및 우울점수는 유의하게 낮아졌다. 이와 같은 성적을 미루어볼 때 연변에 거주하는 조선족 여성이 평가한 영적 안녕정도는 정신병적 경향과 불안 및 우울에 유의한 상관을 보였으면 이 척도의 하위 척도인 종교적 안녕정도는 정신건강에 부정적인 영향을 미치는 반면 실존적 안녕정도는 정신건강에 긍정적 영향을 미친 결과로 평가되었다. 이러한 결과는 공산주의 사회에서 실존적 안녕은 긍정적인 가치관으로 평가되는 반면 종교적 안녕은 정신건강에 부정적으로 작용한 것을 입증해 주었다고 하겠다. Background: Spirituality has been an important part of Transpersonal Psychology and is believed to have a large effect on the mental health because it has been systematized. The aim of this study was to determine the level of spiritual disposition on human beings along with its effects on one's mental health. Materials and Methods: The study targeted 400 women residing in Youn-Gil city of JiLin Prov., which is a district of the Cho-Sun tribe in China. Their spiritual well-being was studied using the Spiritual Well-being Scale-Korean Version. The spiritual well-being scale consists of 2 sub-scales of religious well-being and existential well-being. The study was evaluated using a lie scale, psychotic trend, and a combined anxiety-depression scale. The results were considered to be factors of one's mental health. The correlation between the spiritual well-being and each tendency was analyzed by regression analysis. Results: The total score of the Cho-Sun tribal women according to the spiritual well-being scale was 68.29 which was much less than the 100.65 of Korean Christian women. There was no significant correlation between the spiritual well-being and the Lie trend. However, it was found that 86%(344) of Cho-Sun tribal women scored above 70 in the Lie trend with a mean score of 74.57 which is higher than normal populations. Regarding the correlation between the spiritual well-being and psychotic trend, the psychotic trend became significantly higher when the religious well-being was at a high level. On the other hand, the psychotic trend became significantly lower when the existential well-being was at a high level. Regarding the correlation between the spiritual well-being and anxiety, the anxiety was significantly higher when the religious well-being was at a high level. However, the anxiety level was significantly low when the existential well-being was at a high level. Regarding the correlation between the spiritual well-being and depression, the depression level was somewhat significantly high when the religious well-being was at a high level. However, the depression level was significantly low when the existential well-being was at a high level. Conclusion: This study evaluated the effects of spiritual well-being on a person's mental health among Cho-Sun tribal women in Youn-Gil city of JiLIn Prov., P.R. of China. The results found that the religious well-being, which is a sub-scale of spiritual well-being, had negative effects while the existential well-being had positive effects on the mental health. These results proved that a person's religious disposition had negative effects on their mental health in a communitarian society.

Closed rupture of flexor tendons without an associated pathologic condition in the hand is rare. Authors report a patients who sustained a rupture of flexor digitorum profundus in Zone III on his left little finger as a result of an repeated inappropriate strong grip of a golf club. The patient had the good range of motion with excellent clinical results after direct repair by modified Kessler method.

Arthroscopic meniscectomy of the knee is generally a safe and effective procedure with a low rate of vascular complications. The authors encountered a case of a pseudoaneurysm of the lateral inferior genicular artery after arthroscopic partial meniscectomy of lateral meniscus. The pseudoaneurysm was treated successfully using transcatheter embolization. No recurrence of the hemarthrosis was observed in the patient after a follow-up of 2 years.

Gain of a New Exon by a Lineage-Specific Alu Element-Integration Event in the BCS1L Gene during Primate Evolution

BCS1L gene encodes mitochondrial protein and is a member of conserved AAA protein family. This gene is involved in the incorporation of Rieske FeS and Qcr10p into complex III of respiratory chain. In our previous study, AluYRa2-derived alternative transcript in rhesus monkey genome was identified. However, this transcript has not been reported in human genome. In present study, we conducted evolutionary analysis of AluYRa2-exonized transcript with various primate genomic DNAs and cDNAs from humans, rhesus monkeys, and crabeating monkeys. Remarkably, our results show that AluYRa2 element has only been integrated into genomes of Macaca species. This Macaca lineage-specific integration of AluYRa2 element led to exonization event in the first intron region of BCS1L gene by producing a conserved 3' splice site. Intriguingly, in rhesus and crabeating monkeys, more diverse transcript variants by alternative splicing (AS) events, including exon skipping and different 5' splice sites from humans, were identified. Alignment of amino acid sequences revealed that AluYRa2-exonized transcript has short N-terminal peptides. Therefore, AS events play a major role in the generation of various transcripts and proteins during primate evolution. In particular, lineage-specific integration of Alu elements and species-specific Alu-derived exonization events could be important sources of gene diversification in primates.

Osteochondroma of the proximal fibula is relatively common, but there are only rare reports of this lesion in conjunction with peroneal nerve palsy. We report here on a case of the peroneal nerve palsy secondary to fibular head osteochondroma, and the patient experienced complete recovery of function following the excision of the tumor and neurolysis of the peroneal nerve.

감입형 경골 고평부 골절에서 신선 동결 동종 골이식의 사용

목적: 감입형 경골 고평부 골절에서 정복된 관절면의 유지를 위해 사용되는 신선 동결 동종 골이식의 유용성을 알아보고자 하였다. 대상 및 방법: 2004년 5월부터 2008년 5월까지 감입형 경골 고평부 골절로 관혈적 정복 및 내고정술을 시행하여 관절면을 회복한 후 신선 동결 동종 해면골 이식술을 시행한 환자 13명을 대상으로 후향적으로 조사하였다. 평균 나이는 46.6(31∼65)세이었으며, 평균 추시 기간은 36(13∼58)개월이었다. 수술 전·후 및 최종 추시 시 방사선적 결과 판정은 modified Ramussen score를 이용하였고, 기능적 평가는 Lysholm`s knee score로 분석하였다. 결과: 최종 추시 시 체중부하 전·후면 단순 방사선 사진상 전례에서 관절면의 정복이 잘 유지되고 있었고, 함몰이나 골절 정복 소실, 각변형, 부정 유합 등의 합병증은 관찰되지 않았다. 술 후 골유합은 평균 10±0.7주경에 모두 유합을 이루었다. 최종 추시 시 관절 운동은 평균 135(115∼145)도이었고, modified Ramussen score을 이용한 방사선적 결과는 평균 15.3점이었고 10예에서 우수, 3예에서 양호의 결과를 보였다. Lysholm`s knee score는 평균 88.2±4.3점이었다. 결론: 감입형 경골 고평부 골절에서 신선 동결 동종 해면골 이식은 골유합과 기능 회복에 도움이 되며, 정복된 관절면의 유지를 위해 좋은 구조적 보강물이라고 생각된다. Purpose: To assess the behaviour of fresh frozen cancellous allograft used for supporting the reconstructed articular surface in impacted tibial plateau fractures. Materials and Methods: Between May 2004 and May 2008, 13 cases of impacted tibial plateau fracture were evaluated retrospectively. All fractures were treated with open reduction-internal fixation after restoration of the tibial plateau surface and insertion of fresh frozen cancellous allograft chips for subchondral support. Mean age was 46.6 (31∼65) years. Average follow-up period was 36 (13∼58) months. The radiological and clinical result for every patient was assessed according to the modified Rasmussen`s system and Lysholm`s knee score. Results: According to last follow-up weight bearing A-P X-ray, the fresh frozen cancellous allograft incorporated soundly in all cases and no complications such as joint depression, fracture reduction loss, angular deformity, and malunion were found. The mean time to complete bone union was postoperative 10±0.7 weeks. The mean range of motion was 135 (115∼145) degrees. The mean Rasmussen`s radiological score at last follow up was 15.3 (10 cases: excellent, 3 cases: good). The mean Lysholm`s knee score at last follow up was 88.2±4.3. Conclusion: We concluded that fresh frozen cancellous allograft in impacted tibial plateau fractures showed good results in terms of bone union and functional improvement and was considered to be a good structural supporter.
