Relationships of Low Serum Levels of Interleukin-10 With Poststroke Anxiety and Cognitive Impairment in Patients With Clinical Acute Stroke

        Zhao-jian Ying,Yuan-Yuan Huang,Meng-Meng Shao,Chu-Huai Chi,Ming-Xia Jiang,Yi-Hui Chen,Yu-Chen,Miao-Xuan Sun,Yan-Yan Zhu,Xianmei Li 대한신경과학회 2023 Journal of Clinical Neurology Vol.19 No.3

Background and Purpose The relationships among interleukin (IL)-10 levels, anxiety, and cognitive status after stroke remain controversial. We aimed to determine the associations of serum IL-10 levels with poststroke anxiety (PSA) and poststroke cognitive impairment (PSCI). Methods We recruited 350 patients with stroke, of whom only 151 completed a 1-month follow- up assessment. The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) were used to assess the cognitive status and anxiety, respectively. Serum IL-10 levels were measured within 24 hours of admission. Results IL-10 levels were significantly lower in the PSA group than in the non-PSA group, and they were negatively associated with HAMA scores (r=-0.371, p<0.001). After adjusting for all potential confounders, IL-10 levels remained an independent predictor of PSA (odds ratio=0.471, 95% confidence interval=0.237–0.936, p=0.032). IL-10 levels were strongly correlated with behavior during interviews, psychic anxiety, and somatic anxiety. Patients without PSCI had higher IL-10 levels were higher in non-PSCI patients than in PSCI patients, and they were positively associated with MMSE scores in the bivariate correlation analysis (r=0.169, p=0.038), and also with memory capacity, naming ability, and copying capacity. However, IL-10 did not predict PSCI in the univariable or multivariable logistic regression. Conclusions Low IL-10 levels were associated with increased risks of PSA and PSCI at a 1-month follow-up after stroke. Serum IL-10 levels may therefore be helpful in predicting PSA.

      • Down-regulation of miRNA-452 is Associated with Adriamycin-resistance in Breast Cancer Cells

        Hu, Qing,Gong, Jian-Ping,Li, Jian,Zhong, Shan-Liang,Chen, Wei-Xian,Zhang, Jun-Ying,Ma, Teng-Fei,Ji, Hao,Lv, Meng-Meng,Zhao, Jian-Hua,Tang, Jin-Hai Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.13

Adriamycin (ADR) is an important chemotherapeutic agent frequently used in treatment of breast cancer. However, resistance to ADR results in treatment failure in many patients. Recent studies have indicated that microRNAs (miRNAs) may play an important role in such drug-resistance. In the present study, microRNA-452 (miR-452) was found to be significantly down-regulated in adriamycin-resistant MCF-7 cells (MCF-7/ADR) compared with the parental MCF-7 cells by miRNA microarray and real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). MiR-452 mimics and inhibitors partially changed the adriamycin-resistance of breast cancer cells, as also confirmed by apoptosis assay. In exploring the potential mechanisms of miR-452 in the adriamycin-resistance of breast cancer cells, bioinformatics analysis, RT-qPCR and Western blotting showed that dysregulation of miR-452 played an important role in the acquired adriamycin-resistance of breast cancer, maybe at least in part via targeting insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R).

Expression Analysis of miRNAs in Porcine Fetal Skeletal Muscle on Days 65 and 90 of Gestation

        Chen, Jian-hai,Wei, Wen-Juan,Xiao, Xiao,Zhu, Meng-Jin,Fan, Bin,Zhao, Shu-Hong Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.7

MiRNAs (microRNAs) are a class of small non-coding RNA molecules of ~21 nucleotides that down- regulate the expression of target genes at post-transcriptional level. In this study, we first accomplished a preliminary scan of miRNA expression using 65 and 90 day fetal pig skeletal muscle samples by microarray hybridization, and 34 miRNAs showed strong positive signals. Five of these miRNAs were selected for further investigation by real-time RT-PCR. The statistical analyses indicated that three miRNAs exhibited significant differential expression (p<0.05) during porcine muscle development from 65 to 90 days of gestation, e.g., miR-24 and miR-424 were down-regulated while miR-133a was up-regulated. Multi-tissue RT-PCR was performed to detect the expression patterns of the five miRNA precursors. The results showed that most of these precursor miRNAs were ubiquitously expressed in different porcine tissues.

Digital Post-processing Techniques for Time-interleaved ADCs

        Hongmei Chen,Lanyu Wang,Jian Wang,Jiashen Li,Honghui Deng,Xu Meng,Yongsheng Yin 대한전자공학회 2022 IEIE Transactions on Smart Processing & Computing Vol.11 No.6

This paper presents an all-digital post-processing circuit for a high-speed and highprecision time-interleaved ADC (TIADC). By pre-inputting a test signal in the TIADC, channel mismatch errors are estimated and stored, and the stored values are extracted to compensate for errors when the input signal is at a special frequency. The frequency can be detected by a threshold judgement module. This solves the problem of the traditional modulation calibration algorithm, which cannot calibrate the signal at a special frequency. A high-speed low-complexity digital down converter (DDC) circuit with an optional decimation ratio of 1, 2, 4, or 8 times was designed to have different frequency outputs of the TIADC. We applied it to a four-channel 14-bit 360-MHz TIADC system with an input signal fin of 110 MHz. The FPGA verification results show that after calibration and decimation, the spurious-free dynamic range (SFDR) and signal-to-noise distortion ratio (SNDR) improve by about 40 dB and 30 dB, respectively.

Deformation Feature of Sheet Metals During Inclined Hole-Flanging by Two-Point Incremental Forming

        Xia Chen,Tong Wen,Jian Qin,Jin Hu,Meng Zhang,Zhi-sun Zhang 한국정밀공학회 2020 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.21 No.2

Incremental hole-flanging is an applicable extension of incremental sheet forming (ISF), but the knowledge on the deformation of metallic sheets during the course is lack, especially when the axes of the flanged necks are not perpendicular to the sheet plane. The current study used Al 6061 and SUS 304 stainless steel sheets with the thickness of 1 mm and 0.3 mm to examine the inclined hole-flanging processes on the flat plates by two-point ISF processes. It was found that, although as a whole the thickness variation is thinning, the decreasing degrees within upper and lower domain are not equal, and the difference increases with the inclination angle. Crack, buckling and local deformity are typical defects found in the experiments. The maximum springback increases with tool diameter, inclination angle and feeding pitch. Due to the material properties and a thinner thickness, local deformity is easier to take place on SUS 304 sheets during forming. Utilizing the tool feeding path along the oblique plane can obtain even force and consequently, more uniform deformation. Moreover, the equations for preliminarily determining the dimension of precut holes were derived according to the radial developed length of the flanged neck.

        Liu, Meng-Xue,Li, Jian,Geng, Yun-Long,Wang, Yan-Chun,Li, Jie,Chen, Yu-Juan,Ali, Gholam,Tarver, Siobhan L.,Wen, Yu-Feng,Sun, Wen-Jie Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.24

Background: This study aimed to understand the relationship between knowledge level and behavior on breast care in Chinese students, so as to provide strategies for improving the health education of breast care and subsequently for aiding in breast cancer prevention. Materials and Methods: A self-designed questionnaire was used to evaluate breast care knowledge level and characterize related behavior. Correlation analysis was conducted for the knowledge level and behavior. The study was carried out using 597 female undergraduate students in medical and non-medical colleges in Wuhu, China. Results: The average score of breast care knowledge was $5.32{\pm}1.68$ ($5.62{\pm}1.68$ and $5.00{\pm}1.68$ for medical and non-medical students, respectively), with a greater score value for sophomores ($5.59{\pm}1.72$) than freshmen ($5.18{\pm}1.65$). The average score of breast care behavior was $2.21{\pm}1.13$, again with a greater value in sophomores ($2.37{\pm}1.15$) than freshmen ($2.21{\pm}1.13$). A significant positive correlation (r=0.231, p<0.01) between knowledge scores and behavior scores was observed. In addition, various factors, including paying attention to breast care information, receiving breast self-examination guidance, TV program and Internet, were found to influence breast care knowledge. Conclusions: In general, female undergraduate students lack of self-awareness of breast care with a low rate of breast self-examination. It is necessary to carry out health education to improve early detection of breast cancer.

Crocin alleviates neurotoxicity induced by bupivacaine in SH-SY5Y cells with inhibition of PI3K/AKT signaling

        Lin Lili,Chen Zhen,Li Jun,Peng Jianye,Wang Jian,Feng Mingjun,Liu Tiancheng,Zhang Mengli,Wu Xian,Ai Fen,Shen Caijie 한국유전학회 2024 Genes & Genomics Vol.46 No.1

Background Bupivacaine, a common local anesthetic, can cause neurotoxicity and permanent neurological disorders. Crocin has been widely reported as a potential neuroprotective agent in neural injury models. Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the role and regulatory mechanism of crocin underlying bupivacaine-induced neurotoxicity. Method Human neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells were treated with bupivacaine and/or crocin for 24 h, followed by detecting cell viability using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. The effect of crocin or bupivacaine on SH-SY5Y cell proliferation was measured by Ki67 immunofluorescence assay. The levels of apoptosis-related proteins and the markers in the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway were examined using western blot analysis. The activities of caspase 3, catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) were tested using respective commercial assay kits. Flow cytometry analysis was executed for detecting SH-SY5Y cell apoptosis. Result Crocin attenuated bupivacaine-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells. Meanwhile, crocin inhibited SH-SY5Y cell apoptosis induced by bupivacaine via repressing the activity of caspase-3, reducing Bax expression, and elevating Bcl-2 expression. Moreover, crocin mitigated oxidative stress in SH-SY5Y cells by increasing the content of CAT, SOD, GSH-Px and reducing the content of MDA. Additionally, crocin protected against bupivacaine-induced dephosphorylation of Akt and GSK-3β. The protective effects of crocin against bupivacaine-induced neurotoxicity in SH-SY5Y cells were counteracted by the Akt inhibitor. Conclusion These results suggested that crocin may exert a neuroprotective function by promoting cell proliferation and suppressing apoptosis and oxidative stress in SH-SY5Y cells. Thus, crocin might become a promising drug for the treatment of bupivacaine-induced neurotoxicity. Experimental Study on Soil Deformation during Sampler Penetration

        Chuanyang Liang,Jian Liu,Yuedong Wu,Zhongkui Chen,Ruping Luo,Jin Zheng,Yike Meng 대한토목학회 2022 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.26 No.3

Disturbance at the stage of penetration during soil sampling induces the deformation of samples, causing unreliable results on the determination of soil properties. In order to minimize the disturbance on soil during the penetration process, the displacement field around the tube sampling and influence factors on disturbance are investigated widely. However, there is a lack of effective observation on the development of soil movement at axis and on cross sections with the increase in the penetration depth, which should be studied individually at a certain penetration depth. This paper presents the effect of different sampler penetration depths on the development of soil at central axis and on cross sections through a series of 1-g physical model tests using the particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique. Results show that with the increase in the penetration depth, the correlation between the maximum compression deformation at central axis and the depth corresponding location may be approximated a hyperbola. Moreover, the surface of clay presents the downward compression deformation while that of sand presents the upward deformation. Furthermore, the disturbance influence depth of soil at central axis increases approximately linearly with the increase in the penetration depth. For the sand, the correlation between sensitivity on cross sections and depth presents approximately a line while that of clay presents a hyperbola. These deformation correlations provide useful references for detail predicting the overall deformation curve at a certain penetration depth, which helps to further develop and validate analytical or numerical solutions for this problem.
