        Accelerating Memory Access with Address Phase Skipping in LPDDR2-NVM

        Low power double data rate 2 non-volatile memory (LPDDR2-NVM) has been deemed the standard interface to connect non-volatile memory devices such as phase-change memory (PCM) directly to the main memory bus. However, most of the previous literature does not consider or overlook this standard interface. In this paper, we propose address phase skipping by reforming the way of interfacing with LPDDR2-NVM. To verify effectiveness and functionality, we also develop a system-level prototype that includes our customized LPDDR2-NVM controller and commercial PCM devices. Extensive simulations and measurements demonstrate up to a 3.6% memory access time reduction for commercial PCM devices and a 31.7% reduction with optimistic parameters of the PCM research prototypes in industries.

        외래 정신분열병 환자에서 댄스치료의 임상적 적용

        Objectives : Dance therapy can be applied as one of various psychiatric rehabilitation programs in clinical situations. This study was aimed to investigate applicability of dance therapy to schizophrenic outpatients, in regard to improving social adjustment and quality of life for these patients. Methods : Twenty one psychiatric outpatients enlist who met DSM-Ⅳ criteria for schizophrenia were studied. We conducted dance therapy session once a week, totally 8 sessions. The assessments were done before and after dance therapy. Patients reported Self & Others Representation Inventory-Adjective Checklist (SORI), Self-esteem Scale, and Relationship Change Scale (RCS) and Doctors assessed Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS), Scale for the Assessment of Negative Symptoms (SANS), and Quality of Life Scale (QoLS) in interview. Results : After 8 sessions of dance therapy, patients showed significant improvements in sociability in SORI, satisfaction, intimacy, sensitiveness, openness, comprehensiveness m RCS, and significant decrease of symptoms in BPRS, SANS. QoLS also was improved significantly. There was no significant change in Self-esteem Scale. Conclusion : These results suggested that dance therapy could be applied to schizophrenic outpatients in clinical situations, and it helped to improve self-representation, interpersonal relationship, and quality of life.

        Endoscopic Ultrasound신장 종양에 대한 내시경 초음파 유도하 세침흡인생검

        Traditionally, tissue biopsies of kidney lesions are usually performed with CT or percutaneous ultrasound guidance, but biopsies using EUS have rarely been reported. In this report, we describe a case of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) diagnosed using EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy. A 75-year-old woman taking aspirin due to stable angina continued to exhibit weight loss and anemia and visited the gastroenterology department. No bleeding was observed on upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. A contrast- enhanced mass was observed in the left kidney, accompanied by 8.9×10.8 cm-sized necrosis suggesting RCC on abdominal CT. Chest CT showed masses in both lungs. We planned to administer targeted therapy after pathological confirmation using EUS. Aspirin was continued, and we performed fine-needle biopsy using a 22-gauge needle three times. No adverse events were observed after the procedure. Pathological examination confirmed RCC, clear cell type, and the patient is currently undergoing treatment with sunitinib. EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy is safe for liver, pancreatic, or other tumors accessible from the upper gastrointestinal tract. This technique shows fewer adverse events. To the best of our knowledge, there have been no other reports on EUS-guided fine-needle aspiration biopsy to identify RCC in Korea.

        Scaling up the sub-50 nm-resolution roll-to-roll nanoimprint lithography process via large-area tiling of flexible molds and uniform linear UV curing

        While roll-to-roll nanoimprint lithography (R2R NIL) can be capitalized in highly scalable fabrication of nanopatterns, preparation of large-area flexible molds remains the main challenge. In this work, we demonstrate that tiling of small-area nanopatterns in a slightly overlapped fashion can provide a practical solution to it; sequentially performing the UV NIL processes onto self-replicable UV-curable resin drops by using a small tile mold can create largearea-tiled molds. We systematically investigated that controlling the tile NIL force and several parameters is crucial to minimize the seams between tiles. We also present that the R2R NIL system can be improved by integrating a linear UV LED module for prompt UV curing before the as-imprinted nanopattern reflows, which is critical for high-resolution, high-quality nanopatterning. By using the tiled mold containing 45 nm-half-pitch nanogratings and operating the UV LED-integrated R2R NIL system, we exemplify that sub 50 nm-resolution nanopatterns can be faithfully created.

        Resistive Grounding Technique of Heat Sink for Reducing Radiation Noise

        Heat sink has been used to help an electrical device operate in normal temperature condition. But heat sink radiates unwanted electromagnetic wave, which may cause electromagnetic interference problem. A resistance loaded grounding technique is proposed to reduce electromagnetic wave radiation by a heat sink. Numerical simulations are accomplished to find optimal loading resistance. Also electromagnetic fields radiated by from a heat sink are measured and compared with the simulation results. The test results verify the usefulness of the proposed technique.

      • Vision Based Navigation Using Road-Intersection Image

        This paper suggests the estimation method of the UAV?s navigation information using an intersection image. When the UAV takes pictures of terrain vertically in the low altitude, the difference between two branch?s azimuths is constant regardless of the position and azimuth. According to this idea, the database consists of the latitude, longitude and branch?s azimuth of intersections. And the captured image data obtained from an image processing are built up similarly. The difference of branch?s azimuth is calculated by the data of database and an image. It is possible to identify the relation between intersections and corresponding points on the image plane by comparing to the pattern. It can be easily shown that the scale factor is the distance ratio between identified intersections and corresponding points, and the UAV?s altitude is calculated by the scale factor and camera parameters. Finally, it is possible to estimate the latitude and longitude of the UAV as using the geometric relation between an identified intersection, point, and the center point of an image plane.

        Effects of pH and Ion Concentration in a Phosphate Buffer Solution on the Sensitivity of Silicon Nanowire BioFETs

        We have developed an in-house simulator based on the self-consistent solution of the threedimensional (3D) Poisson-Boltzmann and 3D drift-diffusion equations to examine the effects of pH and ion concentration in a phosphate buffer solution on the sensitivity of a biologically-sensitive silicon nanowire field-effect transistors (BioFETs). We have analyzed the simulation results for the pH and the ion concentration in the phosphate buffer solution by using the concept of the Debye length. We have found that the Debye length is decreased by increasing the ion concentration and decreasing the pH in the phosphate buffer solution. A short Debye length and large probe molecule charges are found to affect the sensitivity of the BioFETs.         Comparison and Contrast of Bone and Dentin in Genetic Disorder, Morphology and Regeneration: A Review

        The bone and dentin have distinct healing processes. The healing process of bones is regenerative, as newly formed tissues are morphologically and functionally similar to the original bone structures. In contrast, the healing process of dentin is reparative due to its failure to replicate some of its key morphological features. In this review, we compare and contrast the healing processes of bone and dentin. We describe how distinct morphological and physiological structures of the 2 tissues translate into different signaling molecules, growth factors, and matrix protein secretion.

        국내 기초·분석과학 분야 내 중국산 연구시설·장비 구축 현황에 따른 국산화 정책 제언

        본 연구의 목적은 과거 14년간 한국 정부가 투자한 연구시설·장비의 구축정보를 기반으로 기초·분석과학 분야에서 중국산 연구시설‧장비가 국내연구장비 시장에서 차지하는 규모와 시장점유의 수준을 알아보기 위해 구축년도·장비표준분류·보유기관 유형별로 구축 수와 구축금액 차이를 비교 분석하였다. 또한 구축년도‧장비표준분류‧보유기관 유형 변수들 간에 상관성 유무도 분석하였다. 2019년 1월 1일을 기준으로 2005년부터 2018년까지 국내에 구축된 중국산 연구시설·장비를 대상으로 기초·분석과학 분야에 활용되는 연구시설·장비(구축금액이 3천만원 이상인 주장비 기준) 50점의 구축 수, 구축금액, 구축년도, 연구장비 보유기관, 그리고 장비표준분류를 분석 항목에 포함하였다. 구축년도·장비표준분류·보유기관 유형 내 중국산 연구시설·장비 구축 수 차이를 비교하기 위하여 단일표본 카이제곱검정 방법을, 구축년도·장비표준분류·보유기관 유형별 중국산 연구시설·장비 구축금액 차이를 비교하기 위하여 각각 맨-휘트니 U 검정과 크러스칼-왈리스 검정을 사용하였으며 구축년도·장비표준분류‧보유기관 유형 간 상관성 유무는 교차분석을 통한 카이제곱검정을 이용하였다. 본 연구결과, 중국산 연구장비의 국내 구축 수와 금액은 구축년도·장비표준분류·보유기관 유형별로 통계학적으로 유의하게 증가(p<.05).하는 추세이며 2000년대에 비해 2010년대에 고가의 광학전자/영상장비가 사립대학 및 민간기업과 정부출연연구소에 구축되었다. 따라서 기초‧분석과학 분야 내 중국산 연구시설·장비의 국내 구축현황은 국산보다는 그 수준이 아직 미비하지만 구축 수와 금액이 통계학적으로 유의하게 증가 추세이므로 중국산 연구시설·장비가 국내연구산업시장을 잠식할 수 있다는 가능성을 인지함과 동시에 관련 대비책 마련이 정부 주도로 필요할 것이다. The aim of this study was to examine the scale and market share of Chinese’s research facility & equipment in the domestic research equipment market of basic and analytical science field for analyzing the difference of the number and amount of construction by year of acquisition, national research facility equipment standard classification code, and type of institution based on the information of the research equipment invested by the Korean government for the past 14 years. In addition, we analyzed the correlation among the year of acquisition, equipment standard classification code, and type of institution variables. As of January 1 2019, from 2005 to 2018, 50 Chinese’s research facilities & equipments (main equipment with a construction cost of 30 million won or more) built in the basic and analytical science fields were selected for this study and their number of construction, amount of construction, year of acquisition, type of institution, and standard classification code were analyzed. Differences of the number and amount of construction with-in and by year of acquisition, standard classification code, and type of institution were tested using a single sample Chi-square test, Mann-Whitney U test, and Kruskal-wallis test. The correlation among the three variables was analyzed by using the Chi-square test of cross-tabulation analysis. And there was a statistically significant correlation among the year of acquisition, standard classification code, and type of institution (p<.05). Compared to the 2000s, in the 2010s, high-priced Optical Electronics/Video Equipment was installed at private universities, private enterprises, and government-affiliated research institute. Therefore, the domestic construction status of Chinese’s research facility & equipment in the basic science and analytical science field is less than that of the domestic ones, but the number and the amount of construction are increasing statistically. So it is necessary for the government to be able to recognize the possibility that the Chinese’s research facility and equipment can encroach on the domestic research industry market and to prepare related provision.
