Recently, increasing evidence suggests that neuroinflammation may be a critical factor in the development of Parkinson’s disease (PD) in addition to the ratio of acetylcholine/dopamine because dopaminergic neurons are particularly vulnerable to inflammatory attack. In this study, we investigated whether botulinum neurotoxin A (BoNT-A) was effective for the treatment of PD through its anti-neuroinflammatory effects and the modulation of acetylcholine and dopamine release. We found that BoNT-A ameliorated MPTP and 6-OHDA-induced PD progression, reduced acetylcholine release, levels of IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α as well as GFAP expression, but enhanced dopamine release and tyrosine hydroxylase expression. These results indicated that BoNT-A had beneficial effects on MPTP or 6-OHDA-induced PD-like behavior impairments via its anti-neuroinflammation properties, recovering dopamine, and reducing acetylcholine release.

Indigo is a valuable, natural blue dye that has been used for centuries in the textile industry. The large-scale commercial production of indigo relies on its extraction from plants and chemical synthesis. Studies are being conducted to develop methods for environment-friendly and sustainable production of indigo using genetically engineered microbes. Here, to enhance the yield of bioindigo from an E. coli whole-cell system containing tryptophanase (TnaA) and flavin-containing monooxygenase (FMO), we evaluated tryptophan transporters to improve the transport of aromatic compounds, such as indole and tryptophan, which are not easily soluble and passable through cell walls. Among the three transporters, Mtr, AroP, and TnaB, AroP enhanced indigo production the most. The combination of each transporter with AroP was also evaluated, and the combination of AroP and TnaB showed the best performance compared to the single transporters and two transporters. Bioindigo production was then optimized by examining the culture medium, temperature, isopropyl β-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside concentration, shaking speed (rpm), and pH. The novel strain containing aroP and tnaB plasmid with tnaA and FMO produced 8.77 mM (2.3 g/l) of bioindigo after 66 h of culture. The produced bioindigo was further recovered using a simple method and used as a watercolor dye, showing good mixing with other colors and color retention for a relatively long time. This study presents an effective strategy for enhancing indigo production using a combination of transporters.

Nano Silicon Carbide was modified with a vinyl group to strengthen the dispersibility and the bonding of the chemical interface between the silicon resin and the SiC surface. The modified nano SiC was charged and dispersed as 0, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 wt%, and samples were prepared to evaluate partial discharge resistance, thermal conductivity, and (+) HVDC dielectric strength. Thermal conduction, partial discharge resistance, and dielectric breakdown strength were evaluated. The partial discharge resistance was studied continuously for 5kV/720Hz×500 hours with an IEC(B) electrode.

Objective:The aim of this study was to evaluate the temperament and character profiles of the patients with posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) after burn injury. Methods:The study subjects consisted of 23 PTSD patients after burn injury, 24 patients not being diagnosed as PTSD after burn injury(non-PTSD) and 53 healthy controls. The assessment of PTSD was performed using clinician administered PTSD scale. All participants were instructed to complete the Temperament and Character Inventory(TCI), the Beck Depression Inventory and the State and Trait Anxiety Inventory of Spielberger. Results:The PTSD group after burn injury, compared with the non-PTSD group and the normal controls, had the higher novelty seeking and harm avoidance scores. But there were no differences in other dimensions in the TCI among the three groups. Conclusion:The results of this study suggest that the PTSD group after burn injury showed the specific properties of temperament and character compared with the non-PTSD group and the normal group.
카이로프랙틱 처치가 인라인스케이트 선수들의 고관절 가동범위와 기록향상에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 카이로프랙틱 처치가 인라인스케이트 선수들의 고관절 가동범위와 기록향상에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 대상자들은 대한롤러연맹 소속 18세 이상의 남, 여 인라인스케이트 선수 42명으로 선정하여 카이로프랙틱 집단(21명), 폼롤러 운동 집단(21명)으로 무작위로 배정하였다. 운동프로그램은 주 1회, 5주간, 총 5회 수행하였다. 프로그램 시행 전, 후로 고관절 가동범위와 인라인 트랙 200m 1바퀴 기록을 평가했다. 자료처리는 대응표본 t 검정(paired t-test)과 독립표본 t 검정(independent t-test)을 실시하여 다음과 같은 결과를 도출하였다. 카이로프랙틱 집단에서 고관절 신전, 굴곡, 외전, 내전, 외회전, 내회전 범위에서 통계적으로 유의한 결과를 나타냈으며(p<.05), 폼롤러 운동 집단에서는 고관절 내회전에서만 유의한 결과가 나타났다. 인라인 트랙 200m 1바퀴 기록에서는 카이로프랙틱 집단에서만 유의한 결과가 나타났다(p<.05). 결론적으로 본 연구를 통해 카이로프랙틱 처치가 인라인스케이트 선수들의 고관절 가동범위와 기록향상에 영향을 미치는 가능성을 제시하고 있으며, 향후의 연구에서는 기록향상에 미치는 영향을 정확하게 알아보기 위해 근력 테스트도 추가하여 다양한 대상자와 다양한 처치방법을 카이로프랙틱 처치와 비교하는 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다. The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of chiropractic treatment on hip joint range of motion and record improvement of inline skate players. The subjects of this study were selected as 42 male and female inline skaters aged 18 or older from the Korean Roller Federation and randomly divided into two groups, the chiropractic group(21 skate players), foam roller exercise group(21 skate players). the exercise program was conducted once a week, for 5 weeks, and for a total of 5 times. before and after the program was implemented, measured hip joint range of motion and inline track 200m one lap record. data processing was conducted by Paired t-test, Independent t-test, the results are as follows. in the chiropractic group(p<.05), the results showed statistically significant increase in hip joint extension, flexion, abduction, adduction, external rotation, internal rotation. in the foam roller exercise group, the results showed significant increase only in hip joint internal rotation. in the record of one lap of 200m in the inline track, the result was significantly decreased only In the chiropractic group(p<.05). in conclusion, this study suggests the possibility of chiropractic treatment affecting hip joint range of motion and record improvement of inline skate players. in future studies. it is considered necessary to compare various subjects and various treatment methods with chiropractic treatment by adding strength test to accurately investigate the impact on record improvement.

Background: Myokines could be associated with peripheral inflammation. The impaired skin barrier function triggers abnormal muscle contraction leading to an increased neurosensory response and neurogenic inflammation. Objectives: The aim of this study was to verify that the specific myokine, leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), could have meaningful roles on aggravation of pruritus in chronic inflammatory skin disorders. Methods: An in vitro coculture model between dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons and keratinocytes was adopted for assessment of possible trophic effect. The activation of serial signaling pathways in DRG neurons by LIF and/or nerve growth factor (NGF) were examined. Results: LIF treatment to DRG neurons showed significant neurite outgrowth comparable with NGF. LIF also meaningfully affected axonal growth in coculture models. The LIF induced neurotrophic effects were effectively diminished by TrkA inhibitor, K252a. LIF application resulted in time- and dose-dependent tropomyosin receptor kinase A (TrkA) and Akt phosphorylation in DRG neurons. In addition, TrkA and Akt phosphorylation by LIF in DRG neurons were effectively prohibited with TrkA inhibitor, K252a respectively. Lastly, Akt phosphorylation induced by LIF was also meaningfully restrained by phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) inhibitor, LY-294002. Conclusion: LIF could cause increased neurite outgrowth and activation of TrkA/PI3K/Akt phosphorylation in DRG neurons.
