        Super-hydrophobic and antimicrobial properties of Ag-PPFC nanocomposite thin films fabricated using a ternary carbon nanotube-Ag-PTFE composite sputtering target

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Ag-plasma polymer fluorocarbon (PPFC) nanocomposite thin films were fabricated using ternary carbon nanotube-Ag-polytetrafluoroethylene composite target by the mid-range frequency dual sputtering method. Ag nanoparticles of diameter 6–8 nm were found to be uniformly distributed in the PPFC matrix. The Ag-PPFC nanocomposite thin films coated on a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate showed higher visible light transmittance than the bare substrate owing to the low refractive index of the thin film and the optical compensation effect; the coating also exhibited excellent water repellency due to the low surface energy of the PPFC matrix. The Ag nanoparticles had no observable effect on the optical and surface properties of the thin film. The Ag-PPFC nanocomposite thin films on fabric substrates exhibited deposition coverage on both front and back surfaces of the fabric, thereby rendering super-hydrophobic characteristics to the entire substrate. The Ag-PPFC nanocomposite thin films were found to have superior antimicrobial properties, suppressing the growth and proliferation of bacteria by up 92.2% compared with uncoated substrates.         The Role of Christian Education in Disability Ministry

        Understanding people with disabilities and their parents is a compulsory step in accepting God's Will for disability ministry. Jesus showed us how to minister the Gospel to people through those with disabilities. He healed the blind, not only to evangelize to them, but also to affect the people around them. During this evangelizing process, Christian education takes an important role. Christian education is defined here as "educating people about disabilities exclusively based on the philosophy and attitudes found in Bible." Disability ministry can be carried out at different levels and at each level, Christian education plays a significant role. This paper will showcase a few examples of disability ministry based on Christian education at different levels, from the individual to the international level.

      • 이화여자대학교 조형예술 학부 도자예술전공의 교과편성 연구 : 1990년부터 2010년을 중심으로

        본 연구는 1990년부터 2010년까지의 한국 현대 도예 흐름 안에 이화여자대학교 조형예술대학 도자예술전공의 역할과 앞으로의 발전 모색에 있다. 한국 현대 도예 태동에 이화여자대학교 조형예술대학 도자예술전공은 선구자 역할을 했다고 할 수 있다. 1959년 이화여대는 황종구 교수를 중심으로 한국 최초로 대학 내에 도자예술전공과 도예연구소를 개설하여 후계양성과 도자 연구에 매진하였다. 청자와 분청자를 중심으로 시작된 교육은 개념미술을 아우를 수 있는 교육으로 확장되고 있다. 이후 60년이 지난 현시점에서 본 연구자는 한국 현대 도예의 흐름 속에 1990년대부터 2010년까지의 이화여자대학교 조형예술학부 도자예술전공의 교과편성 조사와 분석을 하였다. 미국 현대 도예와 달리 한국 현대 도예는 오랜 전통을 기반으로 발전되어 본질적인 문제에 과감히 접근하려는 실험적인 경향이 확대되어 발전되어 갔다. 이화여대 도자예술전공 또한 전통을 재현하는 방식의 수업을 시작으로 산업도자와 도자조형연구도 진행되었다. 연구소에서는 청자, 분청기법 연구와 소지개발에 매진하였다. 석고 캐스팅 기법을 이용하여 다양한 상품 연구와 도예 관련 포괄적인 연구와 상품개발도 이루어졌다. 이화여대 도자예술전공은 졸업생들을 중심으로 도림회를 설립하여 1979년 이후 해마다 동문전시를 통해 졸업자들의 작품 활동을 격려하고 후배 작가양성을 지원하고 있다. 1990년대 한국의 도예 관련 흐름은 전통을 기반으로 현대적 해석, 오브제 중심의 경향, 환경도예가 공존하였다. 전통으로 회귀의 경향도 보여졌으며 이는 전통과 현대가 서로 상호보안적 관계로 지속발전하도록 하였다. 1990년은 현대 미술의 정착기이며 현대도예를 세대별로 나누자면 3세대 또는 후기에 접어드는 시기이다. 규정지을 수 없을 정도로 다양한 표현양상을 보였으며 기능에서 벗어나 조형 작업들이 증가하고 공예와 순수예술 간 공존과 동시에 대립이 나타나는 때이다. 전통도자에서부터 순수예술로서의 오브 제작품들은 다양한 도자예술의 형식과 내용을 보여주는 시기라고 할 수 있다. 이화여자대학교 도예과도 같은 맥락으로 교육이 이루어졌다. 2010년대부터는 미술대학에서 조형예술대학 공예학부로 변경되고 추후 예술대학 안에 음대와 미대의 통합됨에 따라 도예전공은 축소되고 시대성에서 오는 정체성 혼란을 엿볼 수 있다. 몇몇의 수업에서는 교수자들로부터 순수예술작품을 구현할 수 있는 인문학적 탐구가 진행되었다. 이러한 수업과정을 통해 많은 전공자들에게 도자에 대한 담론의 장이 만들어졌으며, 조형성 이 전에 인문철학적 탐구가 이루어졌다. 이는 공예적 측면보다 순수예술가가 고려해야 할 자세이기도 했다. 공예에서 시작된 도자예술은 현재까지도 그 정체성에 대한 담론이 꾸준히 이루어지고 있다. 공예의 실용성과 예술 철학적 사색을 통한 조형적 양식으로서의 도자는 그 기준에 따라 다르게 평가된다. 1990년부터 2010년대의 조형적 언어로서의 도자는 서툴렀고 현재까지 그 정체성을 찾는 노력이 이루어지고 있다. 본 대학 전공에서도 수년 전부터 인문학 적 사고를 돕는 수업이 개설되어 머리와 마음과 손이 하나가 되어 발전되고 성숙된 조형 언어를 구현하는데 이바지하고 있다. 본 연구를 통해 이화여자대학교 도자예술전공이 소속과 명칭 변경이 있었지만 1990년 이후 2010년까지 각 시대에 필요한 인재를 양성하기 위한 노력을 확인할 수 있었다. 전통과 현대, 기법과 조형적 측면, 인문학적 사고확장까지 다양하고 총체적 예술교육을 제공하였음을 알 수 있다. 누락된 많은 본교 출신 작가와 그 작업 결과물을 본 연구에 포함 시키지 못한 한계점이 있다. 또한 한국 최초의 도예전공이 대학에 개설된 학교로서 도자예술전공의 다양한 커리큘럼으로 여성 도예가를 배출함으로서 한국현대도예 현장에서 큰 역할을 하였음을 알 수 있었다. 본 졸업자들이 도자예술의 다양한 지식과 경험을 통해 여성 도예 작가, 예술가로서 활발한 활동이 이어지기를 기대한다. This study is referred to as Ewha Womans University, Department of Ceramic Art in the stream of 1990 to 2010, hereinafter referred to as Ewha University Department of Ceramics. Ewha Womans University Department of Ceramics played a pioneering role in the birth of Korean contemporary ceramics. In 1959, centered with professor Hwang Jonggu, Ewha Womans University opened the first ceramic arts department and ceramic art research institute in the university, and devoted to succession training and ceramic research. The education that begun with the center of celadon and the audience, is expanding to education that can encompass conceptual art. At this point, 60 years later, this researcher conducted a survey and analysis of the curriculum organization of the Department of Art and Design at Ewha Womans University from 1990 to 2010 in the stream of contemporary Korean ceramics. Unlike contemporary American ceramics, Korean contemporary ceramics were developed on the basis of a long tradition, and the experimental tendency to boldly approach essential problems, expanded and developed. Ewha University Department of Ceramics also started with a class of reproducing traditions and conducted research on industrial ceramics and ceramics. The research center devoted research and development of celadon and Bunchung techniques. Various product research, comprehensive research and product development that is related to ceramics were also conducted using the plaster casting technique. Ewha University Department of Ceramics has established a Dorim Association centered on graduates, and has been encouraging graduates' work activities through alumni exhibitions every year since 1979 and is continually supporting the cultivation of junior artists. In the 1990s, Korean ceramic art-related trends co-existed with modern interpretation, objet-oriented trend, and environmental ceramics based on tradition. The trend of return to traditional was also seen, which allowed the traditional and the modern to continue to develop in a mutually secure relationship. 1990 is the settling period of contemporary art, and when contemporary ceramic art is divided by generation, it is the period of entering the third or later period. It is a time when various forms of expression are shown beyond the definition, and formative works increase beyond function, and coexistence and confrontation between craft and fine art appear. Objects from traditional ceramics to pure art can be said to be a period to show various forms and contents of ceramic art. Ewha University Department of Ceramics was also taught in the same context. In the 2010s, as the College of Fine Arts was changed to the Faculty of Crafts of the College of Art and Design, and as the College of Music and the College of Art were merged into the College of Arts, the major of ceramics was reduced and the identity confusion from the times can be seen. In some of the classes, a humanistic inquiry was conducted by instructors to realize works of fine art Through this course, many majors have created a forum for discourse on ceramics, and a humanistic philosophical inquiry was conducted before formative formation. This was an attitude that fine artists should consider rather than the craft aspect. Ceramic art, which started as a craft, continues to discuss about its identity to this day. Ceramics as a formative style through the practicality of crafts and artistic philosophical reflection are evaluated differently according to the criteria. Ceramics as a formative language from 1990 to 2010 were poor, and efforts to find their identity have been made to this day. In this university major, closes to help humanities have been established since several years ago, contributing to the realization of a developed and mature formative language by uniting thoughts, minds) and hands. Through this study, it was confirmed that from 1990 to 2010, the affiliation and name of Ewha University Department of Ceramics also changed according to the location of ceramic art required by each era. This was followed by a changing curriculum. However, it can be seen that comprehensively; it has provided a variety of comprehensive art education including tradition and modern, techniques and formative aspects, and expansion of humanities thinking. There is a limitation in not including many missing authors and work results in this study. In addition, as Korea’s first pottery major was opened at the university, it was an opportunity to analyze the works of graduates of the university and the role of the pottery institute’s activities in contemporary Korean pottery. I hope that artists from this university will be the leading roles in the development of Korean ceramic art in the future.

        인천 지역 남자 노인들의 주요 혈관질환들의 유병률과 그 특성에 관한 연구

        Purpose: As Korea is an aging society (WHO classification) and projected to be an aged society in 10 years, peripheral vascular diseases (PVD) in the elderly population has emerged as an important social and medical issue. But their prevalence was rarely reported in Korea. The purpose of this study is to define the prevalence of carotid artery stenosis (CAS), abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA), and peripheral arterial occlusive disease (PAOD) of lower limb in the Incheon area. Methods: Elderly men (≥65 years) were referred randomly from the Incheon Federation of Korean Senior Citizens’ Association (from Nov 2008 to Sep 2009) to Inha Univeristy Hospital, Incheon, Korea for a PVD screening program. The subjects were screened for CAS and AAA by duplex. CAS was defined as ≥50% internal CAS and AAA as ≥3 ㎝ aortic diameter in minor axis. PAOD of lower limb was screened by measurement of ankle brachial index (ABI); ABI of ≤0.9 was considered abnormal. Results: 1150 subjects were screened including 103 octogenarians (9.0%). Mean age was 72.3±0.2 years. Combined conditions were hypertension (54.3%), diabetes mellitus (25.2%), coronary artery disease (15.6%), dyslipidemia (18.9%), obesity (31.1%) and smoking history (71.7%). CAS was detected in 7.7% (89/1,150) subjects. Thirty-three (2.9%) were diagnosed with AAA. PAOD was detected in 50 subjects (4.4%). Conclusion: Prevalence of PVD in Korea is not lower compared to that of western countries, especially the USA and the UK. A nationwide program for timely detection and treatment for PVD should be developed.

        DTG Big Data Analysis for Fuel Consumption Estimation

        Big data information and pattern analysis have applications in many industrial sectors. To reduce energy consumption effectively, the eco-driving method that reduces the fuel consumption of vehicles has recently come under scrutiny. Using big data on commercial vehicles obtained from digital tachographs (DTGs), it is possible not only to aid traffic safety but also improve eco-driving. In this study, we estimate fuel consumption efficiency by processing and analyzing DTG big data for commercial vehicles using parallel processing with the MapReduce mechanism. Compared to the conventional measurement of fuel consumption using the On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II) device, in this paper, we use actual DTG data and OBD-II fuel consumption data to identify meaningful relationships to calculate fuel efficiency rates. Based on the driving pattern extracted from DTG data, estimating fuel consumption is possible by analyzing driving patterns obtained only from DTG big data.

      • Laparoscopic Liver Resection of Hepatocellular Carcinoma with a Tumor Size Larger than 5 cm: Review of 45 Cases in a Tertiary Institution

        Aims: Although laparoscopic liver resection has developed rapidly, its usefulness for the treatment of large tumors is less clear, due to concerns about compromising oncological principles and patient safety. The purpose of this study was to explore the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic liver resection for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) with a tumor size larger than 5 cm. Methods: From January 2007 to December 2014, we performed laparoscopic liver resection in 45 patients with HCC with a tumor size ≥ 5 cm. Perioperative outcome, tumor recurrence and overall patient survival were analyzed. Results: Median age was 60 years old (IQR 52-68) and 64.4% (29/45) was male. Seven patients (15.6%) had larger than 10cm of HCC. No operative deaths occurred and six of the laparoscopic procedures were converted to open resection (conversion rate 13.3%). Median operation time was 365 minutes (IQR 277-443) and median estimated blood loss (EBL) was 400.0 ml (IQR 275-600). There was no R1 or R2 resection and median resection margin was 19.0 mm (IQR 8.0-33.0). Complications above Clavien-Dindo classification grade III occurred in four patients (8.9%). The median overall follow-up time was 10.7 month (range 1.1-62.1). 1-year recurrence free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS) were 86.0% and 95.5%, and 3-year RFS and OS were 70.7% and 86.0%. Conclusions: Laparoscopic liver resection seems safe and feasible in patients with HCC with a tumor size larger than 5 cm. Expansion of indication for laparoscopic liver resection in patients with HCC may be considered.

      • First SAR Study for Overriding NRAS Mutant Driven Acute Myeloid Leukemia

        <P>GNF-7, a multitargeted kinase inhibitor, served as a dual kinase inhibitor of ACK1 and GCK, which provided a novel therapeutic strategy for overriding AML expressing NRAS mutation. This SAR study with GNF-7 derivatives, designed to target NRAS mutant-driven AML, led to identification of the extremely potent inhibitors, <B>10d</B>, <B>10g</B>, and <B>11i</B>, which possess single-digit nanomolar inhibitory activity against both ACK1 and GCK. These substances strongly suppress proliferation of mutant NRAS expressing AML cells via apoptosis and AKT/mTOR signaling blockade. Compound <B>11i</B> is superior to GNF-7 in terms of kinase inhibitory activity, cellular activity, and differential cytotoxicity. Moreover, <B>10k</B> possessing a favorable mouse pharmacokinetic profile prolonged life-span of Ba/F3-NRAS-G12D injected mice and significantly delayed tumor growth of OCI-AML3 xenograft model without causing the prominent level of toxicity found with GNF-7. Taken together, this study provides insight into the design of novel ACK1 and GCK dual inhibitors for overriding NRAS mutant-driven AML.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

      • 비움을 시도하는 작가와 매체 간 상호작용 도자예술 : 리쩌허우李澤厚의 미학을 중심으로

        The purpose of this study is to examine the ceramic artworks produced by the researcher during the period 2015 to 2021 from the aesthetic aspect of 李泽厚 Li Zehou and objectively establish the perspective of the researcher's work through this study. Through this, the researcher aims to establish concepts to move forward and develop a systematic world of works. It refers to 'forgetting' through 李泽厚 Li Zehou's self-contained philosophy of practice and the necessary reasons. He says that only when one forgets one's real existence and abandons all eyes, ears, and senses and thoughts of mind, one can become one with all things and gain "Freedom in Rules" by traveling through heaven and earth. Sensory organs are constrained by seeing, hearing, and ideas are constrained by tastes. The greatest pleasure is reached only when all of the above are excluded and artificial acts are emptied. It was confirmed that the kind of pure consciousness and the need to precipitate pure perception were connected to the tactile ceramic art of this researcher. The result of interacting with soil and researchers is the result of the researcher's needs. This research process is an attempt by the researcher to experience the lineage that 李泽厚 Li Zehou is describing. 李泽厚 Li Zehou explains that he can empty the line and reach the line with nothing, and that he can find his own beauty. A person may be trapped in the norms, laws, and social demands that he or she accumulated in him or her pure self may have faded or been hidden. Through this experimental attempt and research, the media and researchers were able to communicate and interact with the media and explore them. 본 연구의 목적은 연구자가 間의 개념을 기반으로 2015년부터 2021년 기간 동안 제작한 도자예술작품을 리쩌허우의 미학적 측면에서 살펴보고 본 연구를 통해 연구자의 작업 관점을 객관적으로 정립하고자 함이다. 이를 통해 본 연구자가 앞으로 나아갈 개념들을 확립하고 체계적인 작품세계를 펼쳐 나가고자 한다. 리쩌허우의 주체적 실천철학과 소요유를 통해 ‘잊음’을 언급한다. 자기의 현실적 존재를 잊고 모든 눈, 귀, 마음의 감각과 생각을 버려야만, 비로소 만물과 일체가 되어 천지를 노닐며 ‘천락’을 얻을 수 있다고 말한다. 감각기관은 보고, 듣는 것에 의해 제약을 받고, 생각은 기호에 의해 구속된다. 위 모든 것을 배제하고 인위적인 행위를 텅 비워야 최대의 쾌락에 도달하게 된다. 일종의 순수 의식과 순수 지각을 침전시켜야한다는 점이 본 연구자의 촉각 중심의 도자예술과 연결되어 있음을 확인하였다. 흙과 연구자와의 상호작용한 결과물은 연구자의 소요유 된 결과물이라 할 수 있다. 이 연구과정은 연구자가 리쩌허우가 설명하고 있는 선의 경지를 경험하게 하고자 하는 하나의 시도이다. 리쩌허우는 비우고 무위로 선에 도달할 수 있으며 이때 본연의 미美를 발견할 수 있다고 설명한다. 한 인격체가 그 안에 축적되어있던 규범과 법칙, 사회적 요구에 갇혀 순수한 본연의 모습이 희미해졌거나 감춰져 있을지 모른다. 본 실험적 시도와 연구를 통해 매체와 연구자가 순수하게 교감하고 소요유 할 수 있는 시도가 되었으며, 이후 매체와의 상호작용하며 탐구할 수 있는 시발점이 되었다.
