Unified Parametrization for the Solutions to the Polynomial Diophantine Matrix Equation and the Generalized Sylvester Matrix Equation

        Bin Zhou,Zhi-Bin Yan,Guang-Ren Duan 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2010 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.8 No.1

The polynomial Diophantine matrix equation and the generalized Sylvester matrix equation are important for controller design in frequency domain linear system theory and time domain linear system theory, respectively. By using the so-called generalized Sylvester mapping, right coprime factorization and Bezout identity associated with certain polynomial matrices, we present in this note a unified parametrization for the solutions to both of these two classes of matrix equations. Moreover, it is shown that solutions to the generalized Sylvester matrix equation can be obtained if solutions to the Diophantine matrix equation are available. The results disclose a relationship between the polynomial Diophantine matrix equation and generalized Sylvester matrix equation that are respectively studied and used in frequency domain linear system theory and time domain linear system theory.

Is the Updated Cultural Distance Measurement Better? - A Comparison of Hofstede, Updated Hofstede, GLOBE, and Schwartz’s Dimensions

        Zhi-Bin Zhou,Jong-Wook Kwon,Bo Zhang,Min-Kyo Seo 한국무역통상학회 2017 무역통상학회지 Vol.17 No.3

Cultural distance (CD) is a widely researched topic in the international business field, and researchers synthetize the overabundance of differences between home and host countries, which hinder firms’international operations. In this study, we first employ bibliometric techniques to relevant influential CD research articles published in leading IB journals from 1988 (JIBS, IBR, JIM, MIR etc.). We provide a historical overview and study how CD has been operationalized over the past few decades. Our study first focuses on CD models based on Hofstede, GLOBE, and Schwartz's dimensions; the collection and analysis of data for measuring CD in different ways; dependent variables of CD measurement; and existing problems in CD measurement. Determining which CD measure dimensions are most frequently used in the last decades' research is one of our study's aims. Then, we have tried to implement comparative analysis using different CD measures regarding the influence on foreign direct investment, trade, and international travelers with the economic distance, administrative distance, and geographical distance. Through the results of comparative empirical analysis, we discuss which CD measure may be the most significant in our IB study based on Hofstede six dimensions, Hofstede four dimensions, GLOBE dimensions, or Schwartz's dimensions.

      • Intense red photoluminescence and mechanoluminescence from Mn2+-activated SrZnSO with a layered structure

        Zhou, Yu,Yang, Yun-Ling,Fan, Yu-Ting,Yang, Woochul,Zhang, Wei-Bin,Hu, Jian-Feng,Zhang, Zhi-Jun,Zhao, Jing-Tai The Royal Society of Chemistry 2019 Journal of Materials Chemistry C Vol.7 No.26

<P>A series of novel red emitting Mn2+-activated SrZnSO phosphors were successfully synthesized by solid-state reaction at high temperature. The photoluminescence (PL) and mechanoluminescence (ML) properties of these Mn2+-activated SrZnSO phosphors with different Mn2+ concentrations were investigated. With increasing the concentration of Mn2+ from <I>x</I> = 0 to 0.04, the unit cell volume increased from 153.82 to 154.19 Å3 while the optical band gap decreased from 3.74 to 3.43 eV. The site occupation of Mn2+ in the host lattice was demonstrated by Rietveld refinement, the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectrum, and the spectroscopic properties. A broad band emission peak at 603 nm of SrZn1−xMnxSO (0.001 ≤ <I>x</I> ≤ 0.04) with an excitation wavelength of 318 nm was attributed to electronic transitions of Mn2+ from the 4T1(4G) level to the 6A1(6S) level. The lifetime of SrZn1−xMnxSO (0.001 ≤ <I>x</I> ≤ 0.04) decreased monotonously from 2.97 to 0.82 ms with increasing Mn2+ concentration. In particular, intense emission of red light from SrZn1−xMnxSO (0.001 ≤ <I>x</I> ≤ 0.04) under compressive load could be observed even with the naked eye, indicating that SrZn1−xMnxSO could be used for stress sensors or stress imaging. There was a linear correlation between the ML intensity and external load in SrZn1−xMnxSO, and the ML intensity could be recovered under UV light irradiation. Considering its advantages of non-destruction, reproducibility, and high ML intensity, SrZn1−xMnxSO might be useful for non-destructive detection of stress.</P>

        Zhi-hao Li,Bin Zhou,Xiu-ting Li,Shu-gang Li 한국식품과학회 2019 Food Science and Biotechnology Vol.28 No.1

In this current study, comparative study betweenthe effect of electrolyzed water and ultrapure water on theextraction of apricot protein was conducted. The resultsrevealed that under the condition of same pH (pH = 9.5),the extraction efficiency of electrolyzed water on apricotprotein was superior to that of ultrapure water. Moreover, apricot protein (EAP) extracted by electrolyzed water displayedpreferable foaming capacity and emulsion stability. The foaming capacity and emulsion stability of EAP were11.17% and 36.33 min, for UAP, only 4.75% and23.88 min, respectively. Meanwhile, compared to UAP,the secondary structure of EAP was more orderly, in whichthe orderly structures of a-helix and b-sheet were 7.5 and60.2%, while the disorderly structures of b-turn and randomcoil were 8.4 and 23.8%. This work provided a novelextraction strategy, which could improve the extractionrate and minimize the destruction of the structure andfunctional properties of apricot protein.

Comparison of Gene Expression between Cumulus Oocyte Complexes and Naked Oocytes by Suppression Subtractive Hybridization in Swine

Xiang, Zhi Feng,Zhang, Jin Zhou,Li, Xue Bin,Xie, Hong Bin,Wang, Qing Hua Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2010 Animal Bioscience Vol.23 No.1

In the antral follicle phase, several layers of cumulus cells surround the oocyte and play an important support and regulation role in oocyte development and maturation via intercellular communications and interactions between oocytes and cumulus cells. However, information on stage specific gene expression in swine during the phase is not well understood. To investigate the function of cumulus cells during in vitro maturation of porcine oocytes and gene expression, suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) was performed to screen genes that were differentially expressed between cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) and naked oocytes (NOs). Utilizing mRNAs from in vitro maturation oocytes, a SSH cDNA library from COCs as the tester and NOs as the driver was constructed. The SSH cDNA library was then screened using dot blot analysis. Results showed that a total of 70 clones randomly selected from the library were differentially expressed. Among these, 41 exhibited high homology to known genes and 11 were novel expressed sequences tags (ESTs). Four differentially expressed genes, including bfgf, sprouty 2, egr and btc, were further studied by real time quantitative PCR; results confirmed an increased expression of respective mRNA in COCs compared with NOs, which suggests that these factors may play an important role in oocyte development and maturation.

The potential molecular effects of bursal septpeptide II on immune induction and antitumor activity

        Guang Fang Zhou,Qing Tao Liu,Bin Zhou,Ya Feng Qiu,Xiao Dong Liu,Zhi Yong Ma,Xiu Li Feng,Rui Bing Cao,Pu Yan Chen 대한수의학회 2015 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.16 No.3

The bursa of Fabricius (BF) is the acknowledged central humoral immune organ in birds. Bursal septpeptide II (BSP-II) is animmunomodulatory bioactive peptide isolated from BF. To understand the effects of BSP-II on immune induction, gene expression profilesof hybridoma cells treated with BSP-II were evaluated. Pathway analysis showed that regulated genes were involved in cytokine-cytokinereceptor interactions, T cell receptor signaling pathway, and pathway in cancer. It was observed that BSP-II reduced tumor cells proliferationand stimulated p53 expression. These results indicate potential mechanisms underlying the effects of the humoral immune system on immuneinduction, including antitumor activities. Our study has provided a novel insight into immunotherapeutic strategies for treating human tumors.

The Effects of Puerarin on CYP2D6 and CYP1A2 Activities In Vivo

        Jiao Zheng,Bin Chen,Bing Jiang,Ling Zeng,Zhi-Rong Tang,Lan Fan,Hong-Hao Zhou 대한약학회 2010 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.33 No.2

Ge-gen (Radix Puerariae) is used in traditional oriental medicine for various medicinal purposes. The drug is the root of a wild leguminous creeper, Pueraria lobata (Willd) Ohwi. It possesses a high content of avonoid derivatives, the most abundant of which is puerarin. Our goal was to find the effect of puerarin on cytochrome P450 enzymes in vivo. The study was conducted in 18 male volunteers of different genotypes (CYP2D6 *1/*1, *1/*10, *10/*10). Plasma was obtained at 6 h after oral administration and urine was collected from 0 to 8 h after probe drug administration. The logarithm value of metabolic rate decrease from -0.0055 ± 0.1887 to -0.1754 ± 0.2411 implied puerarin inhibited activity of CYP2D6. There was no significant relationship between the inhibition with the CYP2D6 genotypes. The paraxanthin/caffeine ratio in the plasma sample at 6th hour was increased by 30 ± 47% (p = 0.003), implied puerarin induced the activity of CYP1A2. While puerarin used together with the substrates of both enzymes, drug interaction worth the attention and at sometimes precautions are needed.

A high performance of BPhen-based white organic light-emitting devices with a dual-emitting layer and its electroluminescent spectral property

        Hua-Ping Lin,Fan Zhou,Jun Li,Xiao-Wen Zhang,Dong-Bin Yu,Liang Zhang,Xue-Yin Jiang,Zhi-Lin Zhang 한국공업화학회 2011 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.17 No.4

This work demonstrated the fabrication of white organic light-emitting devices (WOLEDs) using a dual emitting layer (d-EML) consisting of blue and ‘white’ emitters. In this d-EML system, the blue emitter not only emits but also assists the incomplete energy transfer. More importantly, it behaves as an effective trapping site for holes, which contributes to the efficient recombination of electron–hole pairs. The d-EML was constructed between the hole-transmitting layer (HTL) and the electron-transmitting layer (ETL) of Alq3 and BPhen. The thickness of the blue emitter used in the d-EML devices has an important effect on chromaticity and efficiency. Through the optimization of device structure, the reasonable white emission with Commission Internationale de L’Eclairage (CIE) color coordinates of (0.33, 0.33) and little color shift was obtained. The device showed an applicable luminance with its maximum luminance of 22,874 cd/m2 at a driving voltage of 16 V. The maximum luminance efficiency was achieved 8.10 cd/A,and the maximum power efficiency was reached 5.07 Lm/W. The result is explained with the help of the excitons generation and diffusion theory. According to the theory of excitons generation and diffusion,an equation has been set up which concerns electroluminescent spectra to the thickness of the two emitters and to the exciton diffusion length.
