The shelf0life of Yugwa(Busuge)is very short because of the low oxidative stability of soybean oil which is conventionally used as the frying oil of Yugwa base with porous structures. To identify the possibility of replacing soybean oil with palm oil whose oxidative stability is high. POV(peroxide value). AV(acid value), colorness(L, a and b), hardness and sensory characteristics during storage of the Yugwa base fried with the soybean oil and palm oil stored in the anaerobic packaging or the aerobic packaging at 10 and 30℃ for 75 days were measured. POV and AV of the Yugwa base fried with palm oil were significantly lower than those of Yugwa fried with the soybean oil. Hardness and colorness were not different each other and, sensory evaluation was slightly higher than that fried with soybean oil. Lipid absorption amount was not significantly different between the Yugwa base fried with palm oil and the one fried with soybean oil.

Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a toxic chemical commonly used as a degreasing agent, and it is usually found in a colorless or blue liquid form. TCE has a sweet, chloroform-like odor, and this volatile chlorinated organic chemical can cause toxic hepatitis, neurophysiological disorders, skin disorders, and hypersensitivity syndromes. However, the hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP) attributed to TCE has rarely been reported. We hereby describe a case of HP associated with TCE in a 29-year-old man who was employed as a lead welder at a computer repair center. He was installing the capacitors on computer chip boards and had been wiped down with TCE. He was admitted to our hospital with complaints of dry coughs, night sweats, and weight losses for the past two months. HP due to TCE exposure was being suspected due to his occupational history, and the results of a video-associated thoracoscopic biopsy confirmed the suspicions. Symptoms have resolved after the steroid pulse therapy and his occupational change. TCE should be taken into consideration as a potential trigger of HP. Early recognition and avoidance of the TCE exposure in the future is important for the treatment of TCE induced HP.

Sarcopenia and osteopenia/osteoporosis in Korean men with COPD based on KNHANES 2008-2011

Backgrounds: Sarcopenia and osteopenia/osteoporosis are known to be systemic features associated with COPD. We aimed to investigate the prevalence of sarcopenia and osteopenia/osteoporosis and the relationship between those in Korean men with COPD. Methods: Data on a total of 4586 male participants who underwent pulmonary function test and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry were extracted from KNHANES between 2008 and 2011. The associations between clinical factors including lung function, BMD and appendicular skeletal muscle index (ASMI: indicator for sarcopenia) were analyzed. Results: Prevalence of sarcopenia and osteopenia/osteoporosis was higher in the 864 males with COPD than in participants with normal lung function (sarcopenia: 4.7% vs 1.8%, osteopenia/osteoporosis: 50.2%/6.5% vs 35.5%/2.9%; all P < 0.001). The proportion of patients with sarcopenia or osteoporosis increased significantly as GOLD stage progressed from stage II to III/IV (sarcopenia: 4.5% vs 21.8%; P < 0.001, osteoporosis: 5.4% vs 16.4%; P=0.006), while the change of osteopenia was not significant between the stages. Sarcopenic COPD patients had osteopenia/osteoporosis more frequently than those without [37/41 (90.2%) vs 453/823 (55.0%); P < 0.001]. ASMI was one of the independent predictors for osteopenia/osteoporosis in patients with COPD (HR 0.449; 95% CI 0.329-0.612; P < 0.001). Conclusions: Sarcopenia and osteopenia/osteoporosis were more prevalent in Korean men with COPD than those with normal lung function, and sarcopenia was closely correlated with osteopenia/osteoporosis.

<P> We investigated the electrical properties of ferroelectric Pb(Zr,Ti)O3(PZT) capacitor on TiN/W storage node contact plug that is capacitor over bitline(COB) cell structure for a high density ferroelectric memory. In order to protecting TiN/W contact plug from oxidation failure during furnace annealing of PZT capacitor, the oxidation barrier of Ti1 - xAlxN (x∼ 0.25) film was interposed at between Pt/IrO2/Ir bottom electrode and TiN/W plug of the COB cell, resulting in the robust contact resistance property of 27 ohm per contact plug after furnace annealing performed at 600°C in O2 ambient for 90 min. The remanent polarization value and leakage current density of the fully integrated PZT capacitor with a top electrode area of 1.8 × 1.8 um2 on TiN/W contact plug showed 32 μ C/cm2 and 2.5 × 10- 6A/cm2, respectively.</P>
Ultraviolet B - Induced Apoptosis of Normal Human Melanocytes and G361 Cells

Background : Ultraviolet(UV) light is one of the injurious environmental agents which is known to lead to apoptosis of cells. However, studies on UVB-induced apoptosis of melanocytes are still lacking and there are some discrepancies between researchers. Objective : Our purpose was to evaluate the characteristics of UVB-induced apoptosis of melanocytes and G361 cells. Methods : Cultured normal human melanocytes and malignant melanoma cell lines (G361 cells) were analyzed by several detection methods including morphological examination of propidium iodide(PI) stained cells under fluorescence microscopy, quantitation of fragmented DNA, and flow cytometric analysis. Results : Both melanocytes and G361 cells showed similar rate of apoptosis with gradual increment of UVB doses by the quantitation of fragmented DNA. However, flow cytometric analysis using scatter properties and PI stainability revealed that the melanocytes were more resistant to UVB than 6361 cells. Canclusian : We suggest that melanocytes seem to be more resistant to UVB-induced injury than G361 cells. In addition, various methods for the detection of apoptosis might be necessary for its study.

Background: The recent increase in resistance of H. pylori against fl uoroquinolone has become a signifi cant limitation in effective eradication. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effi cacy and tolerability of quinolone-based third-line rescue therapy for H. pylori. Methods: From April 2003 to December 2013, a total 63 patients who experienced two consecutive eradication failures were included in this study. They received a 7-day standard triple regimen with proton pump inhibitor (PPI) (standard dose b.i.d.), amoxicillin (1000 mg b.i.d) plus either moxifl oxacin (400mg q.d.) (PAM group, n = 28) or levofl oxacin (500mg b.i.d.) (PAL group, n = 35) as a third-line rescue therapy for H. pylori. H. pylori eradication was evaluated by the 13C-urea breath test, histology, or the rapid urease test. The eradication rate, drug compliance, and adverse event rates were compared between the two groups. Results: The eradication rates by intention-to-treat analysis were 39.3% (11/28) and 57.7% (15/35) in the PAM group and the PAL group, respectively (P = 0.802). Theeradication rates by per-protocol analysis were 45.8% (11/24) and 45.5% (15/33) inthe PAM group and the PAL group, respectively (P = 1.000). Compliance was good in the both groups (PAM/PAL group: 87.5%/93.9%). The adverse event rates were reported in 45.8% (11/24) and 15.2% (5/33) in the PAM group and the PAL group, respectively (P = 0.017). Conclusions: Effi cacy of quinolone-based third-line regimen has recently decreasing in Korea. Reconsiderations on fl uoroquinolone containing rescue therapy for H. pylori is needed in the future.
