        Health management of laser rangefinder considering maximum continuous working time

        High-power lasers have severe thermal effects. The heat buildup during longterm operation will increase the threshold current of the laser and the internal defects, which will seriously affect the lifetime of the device. A temperature sensor is difficult to install on the laser rangefinder due to the small size of the solid-state laser device. Considering this situation, this work analyses the thermal mechanism of the laser rangefinder and proposes a temperature calculation method for the crystal working substance inside the laser rangefinder based on the finite element simulation to obtain the crystal center temperature and thermal model with the working time. Then, the prediction model of the maximum continuous working time of the laser can be obtained. The proposed model can provide an early scientific warning for the remaining continuous working time of the solid-state laser and improve the single-shot utilization of the solid-state laser to a certain extent. A comprehensive health management framework of laser rangefinders including FMEA is also proposed.

        Achieving Improved/Reversed Tension–Compression Asymmetry by Tailoring Extrusion Processing for Mg–Sn(–Y) Alloy

        Significant tension-compression (T–C) yield asymmetry in common wrought Mg alloys hinders their widespread applications. A double extrusion process with variable speed and partially substituted yttrium (Y) (2 wt%) for Sn was proposed to improvethe T–C asymmetry of Mg–2.5Sn (wt%) alloy, and then to explore the critical grain size parameter for T–C symmetry. Theresult showed that the individual double extrusion or partial substitution of Sn by Y slightly refined the grains of Mg–2.5Snalloy (from ~ 42.5 μm to 35.5 μm and 31.2 μm, respectively), along with the improved T–C asymmetry (CYS/TYS) from0.44 to 0.51 and 0.75, respectively. When combining the above two factors, the double-extruded Mg–Sn–Y alloys obtainedfine grains with ~ 8.8 μm and gained a T–C yield symmetry (CYS/TYS = 1.01). By tailoring the extrusion speed from theprevious 1.2 mm/s to 2 mm/s, the grain size of double-extruded Mg–Sn–Y further deduced to ~ 5.6 μm and turned to be areversed T–C asymmetry (CYS/TYS) of 1.37. The refined grain size combined with weakened texture led to a decreasedactivation or even inhibition of tension twinning and increased activation of non-basal slip, which might be the main reasonfor the improved or even reversed T–C asymmetry in double-extruded Mg–0.5Sn–2Y.

        First Principle and Experimental Study for Site Preferences of Formability Improved Alloying Elements in Mg Crystal

        Some alloying elements (Al, Er, Gd, Li, Mn, Sn, Y, Zn) were proved recently by calculations or experiments to improve theformability of Mg alloys, but ignoring their site preference in Mg crystals during the calculated process. A crystallographicmodel was built via fi rst principle calculations to predict the site preferences of these elements. Regularities between dopingelements and site preferences were summarized. Meanwhile, in the basis of the crystallographic model, a series of formulaswere deduced combining the diff raction law. It predicted that a crystal plane with abnormal XRD peak intensity of the Mgbasedsolid solutions, compared to that of the pure Mg, prefers to possess solute atoms. Thus, three single-phase solid solutionalloys were then prepared through an original In-situ Solution Treatment, and their XRD patterns were compared. Finally,the experiment further described the site preferences of these solute atoms in Mg crystal, verifying the calculation results.

        선진국 시각디자인 분야의 NCS을 기준으로 바라본 중국 기존 NCS 문제에 대한 연구

        본 연구는 시각디자인 분야의 직무능력표준에 초점을 맞추고 있으며 영국, 미국, 한국, 호주의 국가직무능력표준에 대해 분석하고, 여러 국가 시각디자인 분야의 직무능력표준을 비교함으로써 중국 직무능력표준에 존재하는 문제점을 찾아내기 위함이다. 연구방법으로는 문헌 연구 및 자료수집을 통해 선진국 시각디자인 분야의 직무능력표준에 관한 자료를 수집하여 비교분석하는 것이다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중국 시각디자인 분야의 직무능력표준은 업계 현황을 잘 반영하지 못하고 있다. 둘째, 직무역량을 조사할 때 직무요건을 명확히 구분할 수 없다. 셋째, 과거에 제정된 국가직업능력표준이 실제 생산과 동떨어져 있고 기업과 노동시장의 발전수요를 충족시키지 못하는 점이다. 넷째, 중국 시각디자인 분야의 기존 직무능력표준은 4년제 대학생의 직무능력 훈련에 적합하지 않다. This research focuses on the vocational ability standards in the visual design field, and analyzes and compares the vocational ability standards of various countries in the visual design field, including Britain, the United States, South Korea and Australia, aiming to figure out the problems in the vocational ability standards. The research first collects the information of vocational ability standards in the visual design field in developed countries through literature and data collection, and then make a comparative analysis. The research conclusions are as follows: first, China s vocational ability standards in the visual design field fail to well reflect the industry status quo; second, when investigating the job competence, the job requirements cannot be clearly distinguished; third, the previous national vocational ability standards are disconnected from actual production, and can hardly meet the development needs of enterprises and labor market; fourth, the existing job competency standards in the visual design field in China are unfit for the vocational ability training of four-year college students.

      • Coevolution between Human's Anticancer Activities and Functional Foods from Crop Origin Center in the World

        Cancer is the leading cause of death around the world. Anticancer activities from many functional food sources have been reported in years, but correlation between cancer prevalence and types of food with anticancer activities from crop origin center in the world as well as food source with human migration are unclear. Hunger from food shortage is the cause of early human evolution from Africa to Asia and later into Eurasia. The richest functional foods are found in crop origin centers, housing about 70% in the world populations. Crop origin centers have lower cancer incidence and mortality in the world, especially Central Asia, Middle East, Southwest China, India and Ethiopia. Asia and Africa with the richest anticancer crops is not only the most important evolution base of humans and origin center of anticancer functional crop, but also is the lowest mortality and incidence of cancers in the world. Cancer prevention of early human migrations was associated with functional foods from crop origin centers, especially Asia with four centers and one subcenter of crop origin, accounting for 58% of the world population. These results reveal that coevolution between human's anticancer activities associated with functional foods for crop origin centers, especially in Asia and Africa.

      • Gefitinib Alone or with Concomitant Whole Brain Radiotherapy for Patients with Brain Metastasis from Non-small-cell Lung Cancer: A Retrospective Study

        Background: Gefitinib, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), is used both as a single drug and concurrently with whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) the standard treatment for brain metastases (BM), and is reported to be effective in a few small studies of patients with BM from non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, no study has compared the two treatment modalities. This retrospective analysis was conducted to compare the efficacy of gefitinib alone with gefitinib plus concomitant WBRT in treatment of BM from NSCLC. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 90 patients with BM from NSCLC who received gefitinib alone (250mg/day, gefitinib group) or with concomitant WBRT (40Gy/20f/4w, gefitinib-WBRT group) between September 2005 and September 2009 at Sun Yat-Sen University Cancer Center. Forty-five patients were in each group. Results: The objective response rate of BM was significantly higher in gefitinib-WBRT group (64.4%) compared with gefitinib group (26.7%, P<0.001). The disease control rate of BM was 71.1% in gefitinib-WBRT group and 42.2% in gefitinib group (P=0.006). The median time to progression of BM was 10.6 months in gefitinib-WBRT group and 6.57 months in gefitinib group (P<0.001). The median overall survival(OS) of gefitinib-WBRT and gefitinib alone group was 23.40 months and 14.83 months, respectively (HR, 0.432, P=0.002). Conclusion: Gefitinib plus concomitant WBRT had higher response rate of BM and significant improvement in OS compared with gefitinib alone in treatment of BM from NSCLC.

        A kind of core cross-linked ‘‘semi-amphiphilic” polymer assemblies for controlled release of corrosion inhibitors and autonomous corrosion alarm

        A novel kind of core cross-linked assemblies formed from a ‘‘semi-amphiphilic” block copolymer, poly(syringaldehyde methacrylate)-block-poly (dopamine methacrylate-co-methyl methacrylate-costyrene)(PSMA-b-P(DMA-co-MMA-co-St)), was designed and served as the carrier for anti-corrosiveand corrosion detective molecules. Different from the core cross-linked micelles formed by the amphiphilicpolymers in water, the core cross-linked assemblies in this research were formed from the ‘‘semiamphiphilic”block copolymer, which took advantage of the different compatibility between epoxy andthe blocks in the polymer, leading to the self-assembly behavior happening in the organic resin, whilethey shared the advantages of traditional core cross-linked micelles with the properties of being stable,stimuli-responsive and multifunctional. The pH-responsive properties of the assemblies and their complexationwith Fe3+ caused by the corrosion of the steel were confirmed by UV spectrophotometry andXPS analysis of the corrosive products. The controlled release of corrosion inhibitors was fully reflectedby the expansion of the capacitor ring and the increase of the coating resistance (Rc) with the extensionof the immersion time, which was got via fitting the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) datawith the equivalent electric circuits. Ultimately, the anti-corrosive mechanism of smart coating with thefunctional core cross-linked assemblies were also illustrated.

        Profiling Gene Expression During Gland Morphogenesis of a Glanded and a Glandless Upland Cotton

        The pigment gland is an important character of the Gossypium plant. With the aim of identifying genes involved in pigment gland morphogenesis in cotton, gene expression during pigment gland morphogenesis in Chuan 2802, which is glanded both in seed and plant, and a glandless line N5 was profiled using Affymetrix Cotton microarray. The results showed that there were 564 differentially expressed genes greater than twofold during gland morphogenesis. About 60.2% of these genes shares similarity with known genes on GenBank and about 39.8% with no functional description in the database. These described genes may play roles in defense response, response to oxidative stress, peroxidase activity, and the other metabolic pathways. The KEGG Orthology-Based Annotation System indicated that these above twofold expressed genes involved seven biochemical pathways on KEGG. These findings suggest that a complicated regulation is associated with pigment gland morphogenesis and the associated defense response including gossypol biosynthesis in cotton.

        Multiparty Quantum Secret Sharing of Quantum States Using Entanglement States

        <P>A multi-partite-controlled quantum secret sharing scheme using several non-orthogonal entanglement states is presented with unconditional security. In this scheme, the participants share the secret quantum state by exchanging the secret polarization angles of the disordered travel particles. The security of the secret quantum state is also guaranteed by the non-orthogonal multi-partite-controlled entanglement states, the participants' secret polarizations, and the disorder of the travelling particles. Moreover, the present scheme is secure against the particle-number splitting attack and the intercept-and-resend attack. It may be still secure even if the distributed quantum state is embedded in a not-so-weak coherent-state pulse.</P>
