        Interlanguage Development in English Interrogatives by Two Korean Children

        Yang, Eun-Mi. 2000. Interlanguage Development in English Interrogatives by. Two Korean Children. Linguistics 8-1, 379-401. The purpose of this research is to compare the development of English question formation by the two Korean children who were attending elementary school and acquiring English in America for about 1 year and whose age difference is two years. (One is 7 years and the other is 9 years old then.) They were acquiring English mainly at school in natural environment and used Korean after school at home. Through this study I examined some prevailing hypothesis which argues for that older children are faster than younger children in acquiring second language and studied the order of acquisition of English structures according to age differences. This longitudinal study showed that both of them used 'overgeneralization' strategy for processing their interlanguage and produced systematic and rule-governed question forms, which support the hypothesis that universal cognitive mechanisms of strategies are the basis for the child's organization of the L2 system.         A study on health and hygiene needs, strategies, and well‐being of an Aeta indigenous community in the Philippines through photovoice methods

        On a global scale, poor access to health and social welfare services for indigenous populations has threatened their overall well-being, especially those living in remote or peripheral areas. Academics from two higher education institutions in South Korea and the Philippines conducted a community-based research in an indigenous Aeta community in the highlands of Pampanga Province in the Philippines’ Central Luzon region. Using a photovoice method and community survey, they investigated family health and hygiene as well as the current strategies this indigenous community employs to address their concerns. Results revealed that the community lacks the basic human needs and services such as water, food, shelter, education, and health service. They demonstrated, however, resilience in managing their lives by making use of the available natural resources and by drawing strength from community spirit. This study provided insights on how higher education institutions and other concerned agencies craft initiatives intended to benefit vulnerable populations and underserved communities such as the indigenous peoples.

        Mycobacterium intracellulare에 의한 요추부 척추염 1예

        비결핵성 미코박테리아에 의한 척추염에 대한 증례 보고가 국내에서는 아직 없었다. 저자들은 기저질환이 없는 환자에서 M. intracellulare에 의한 척추염을 rpoB 유전자에 대한 PCR-RFLP 방법을 통해 진단하였고 수술적 치료와 3제 병합 항균 요법으로 성공적인 임상 경과를 보인 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다. We report a case of vertebral osteomyelitis due to Mycobacterium intracellulare in a 60-year-old man without predisposing conditions. He was successfully treated with surgical excision of the inflamed tissue and combined antimycobacterial therapy consisting of clarithromycin, ethambutol, and rifampin. In this case, polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis (PCR-RFLP) based on the rpo B gene of cultured isolates allowed rapid identification of M. intracellulare. Although very rare, nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) should be suspected as a causative pathogen of vertebral osteomyelitis. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case of vertebral osteomyelitis caused by NTM reported in the Korean literature.

        차세대 레진 개발을 위한 광중합형 복합레진의 화학적 분해와 마모에 관한 연구

        전남대학교 치과대학 소아치과학교실 및 치의학 연구소 수복재료로 사용되는 복합레진은 치아의 저작기능과 심미성을 회복할 수 있는 물리적, 화학적 성질뿐만 아니라 생물학적 적합성과 구강내 환경변화에 대한 내구성을 가지고 있어야 한다. 유치에 사용하려고 할 때에도 마모저항성과 구강내 환경에서의 분해저항성은 고려해야할 중요한 물성이다. 실험에 사용된 복합레진은 최근에 시판되고 있는 Metafil CX(Sun Medical, Japan) Solitaire 2(Heraeus Kulzer, USA), Composan LCM(Promedica, Germany), DenFil(Vericom, Korea)이었다. 각 제품의 분해저항성과 마모도를 평가하고자 마모시험 후 마모된 면의 깊이를 측정하였고 화학적분해를 얻기 위해 0.1N NaOH에 보관 시 각 제품의 분해저항성을 무게손실, 표면하 분해층 깊이, 용출된 Si 농도를 기준으로 평가하였고 주사전자현미경과 공촛점 레이저 현미경으로 분해층을 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 무게 손실량은 0.74~7.94%까지 다양하였으며 Metafil에서 가장 높았다. 2. 분해층 깊이는 Metafil이 가장 깊었고 Solitare 2, Denfil, Composan LCM순이었고 Metafil은 다른제품과 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 3. Si 용출량은 Metafil이 가장 많았으며 Metafil CX와 Composan LCM, DenFil, Solitaire 2사이에 유의한 차이를 보였다(P<0.05). 4. 주사전자현미경 관찰시 표면 양상 및 분해층 깊이를 관찰할 수 있었고 공촛점 레이저 현미경 관찰시 NaOH용액에 보관한 후 수복재의 기질과 충전제 사이의 결합의 파괴 양상을 관찰할 수 있었다. 5. 최대마모깊이는 DenFil에서 가장 낮았고, Metafil CX에서 가장 깊었으며 각 제품 간에는 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 6. 각 제품의 Si 용출량과 분해층 깊이 사이 (r=0.491, p<0.05), 최대마모깊이와 비커스경도 간(r=-0.942, p<0.01)에 유의한 상관관계를 보였다. 이상의 결과 복합레진의 평가요소로서 마모도와 함께 가수분해도 고려되어야 할 것으로 사료된다. The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to degradation and to compare the wear resistance characteristics of four esthetic restorative materials in an alkaline solution(0.1N NaOH). The brands studied were MetafilCX(Sun medical, Japan) Solitaire 2(Heraeus Kulzer, USA), Composan LCM(Promedica, Germany), DenFil(Vericom, Korea). The results were as follows: 1. The mass loss of each brand was 0.74~7.94% and highest value in Metafil(7.94±0.39%). 2. The sequence of the degree of degradation layer depth was in descending order by Metafil, Solitaire 2, DenFil, Composan LCM. There were significant differences between Metafil and the others(p<0.05). 3. The sequence of the Si loss was in descending order by Metafil, Solitaire 2, Composan LCM, DenFil. There were significant differences among the materials(p<0.05). 4. On SEM, destruction of bonding between matrix and filler and on CLSM, the depth of degradation layer of specimen surface was observed. 5. The sequence of maximum wear depth was in descending order by Metafil, Solitaire 2, Composan LCM and DenFil. There were significant differences among the materials(p<0.05). 6. The correlation coefficient between Si loss and degradation layer depth (r=0.491, p<0.05) and Vicker's hardness number and maximum wear depth (r=-0.942, p<0.05) were relatively high. These results indicate that hydrolytic degradation and wear may consider as a evaluation factors of composite resins.

        1950년대 서울番地案內圖와 서울商界略圖에 대한 지도학 및 역사지리학적 고찰

        This paper aims to analyze Seoul Address Map published in 1956 and Seoul Commercial Map published in 1955 after Korean War. Two maps are converted into a raster format and partly vectorized to explore the contents of maps in cartographic aspects and advertisement items depicted with the map in historical-geographical aspect. The Seoul Address Map map is being housed at the map library of University of Kansas, while 1955 map at the map library at Yale University. Published by a private company (Daehan Annae Sa), it is different from the previous maps published (luring the period of Japanese conquest. The Seoul Address Map inclined about 45.58˚(stdev= 0.997) for Jongro street and 44.5479 (stdev= 3.031) for Euljiro from the horizontal line while the Seoul Commercial Map has the same inclination with modern digital maps and address Map published in 2001 with north side up. The Seoul Address Map does show less pictorial description for geographic features than Seoul Commercial Map. Seoul Address Map includes 64 advertisements most of which were hospitals, and securities(banking) located in Junggu and Jongrogu. The Commercial Map includes 67 advertisements, of which are other industrial product such as furniture, food and clothes with higher variety than the other map. Maps on Korea are scattered and housed at other countries and antique bookstores need to be monitored and digitalized for further studies for realistic reconstruction of space of genre de vie.

      • 유아교육과정의 포스트모더니즘 관점에서 본 멀티미디어의 활용 탐색

        The utilization of multi-media to deliver education content has been rapidly increasing recently in early childhood education institutions. However, in many cases multi-media is used as classroom tools without thorough review of their educational function and possible problems. According to Grundy(1991), the use of any medium in a curriculum should not be accepted without critical review. In addition, the medium should also be assessed as an area of overall curriculum development. Accordingly, this research studies the utilization of multi-media from a postmodern perspective of the early childhood curriculum. It emphasizes the following points: First, multi-media should deliver content that pursues diversity and multiplicity considering the socio-cultural context of the learners. Second, multi-media should be used for not only individual activities but also collaborative work to promote interaction. Third, multi-media should be capable of encouraging the active participation of the learners. In conclusion, this research suggests that the use of multi-media in early childhood education institutions is significant not only as an additional teaching tool but also as the means to enable new approaches to early childhood education curriculum.

      • 가시오가피(Acanthopanax senticosus)의 석유에테르 추출물 중 polyacetylene계 물질의 동정

        This study was conducted to isolate polyacetylenes from the Acanthopanax senticosus and to identify the chemical structure of the polyacetylenes by UV, IR, ¹H-NMR and (13)^C-NMR. One of the liposoluble materials was extracted with petroleum ether. Polyacetylene compounds were collected through solvent fractionation at silica gel column chromatograph. The HPLC was used for the semi-preparative separation IR spectra of fraction 5 showed triple bonds at 2256 cm^(-1) and double bond at 1654cm^(-1), respectively, ¹H-NMR spectra of Fraction 5 showed the double bond at 5.35-5.48 ppm. Triple bond at 64.0. 71.2, 74.2, 80.2 ppm and double bond at 121.89, 133.0 ppm were observed in the (13)^C-NMR spectra. 가시오가피를 실온에서 petroleum ether로 추출한 polyacetylene의 동정하기 위하여 TLC, HPLC, UV spectrum, IR, NMR로 수행하였다. TLC에 전개시킨 결과, polyacetylene 표준품과 동일한 band가 fraction 5에서 확인되었으며, HPLC에서 fraction 5를 분리시킨 결과 retention time이 4.40, 5.36, 6.40분이었다. 이를 UV spectrum에서 확인한 결과, 6.40분의 peak(compound 3)에서 polyacetylenes의 파장인 231.0nm, 239.0nm, 257.0nm을 나타내었다. IR spetrum에서 triple bond 2256cm^(-1)과 double bond1654cm^(-1)의 전형적인 peak를 나타내었으며, (13)^C-NMR(400MHz, CDC1₃)에서 polyacetylenes 전형적인 64.0, 71.2, 74.2, 80.2ppm은 2개의 triple bond에 의한 peak와 121.89, 133.0ppm에서 internal double bond로 결합된 2개의 peak를 확인 할 수 있었다.

        본 연구는 美人의 평가기준이 토착화 되어가는 과정을 고찰함으로써 주체성있는 傳統 美人像을 정립하고자 하는 일련의 연구이다. 이러한 연구를 위한 방법론으로 上古 및 三國時代, 高麗時代, 朝鮮時代의 美人像을 가시화한 도회자료와 文獻, 宗敎, 俗談, 古代小說을 참고하여 연구하였다. 이상적인 美人像은 내면적인 美와 외면적인 美가 동시에 갖추어져 있어야 하며 육체를 초월한 정신적인 아름다움 즉, 아름다운 품성이 내재되어 있어야 한다. This is the research for the purpose of setting up a definite concept of the traditional beauty image, by studying the settling processes of evaluation standard of a beauty. A lot of reference materials have been used and studied for this research : such as traditional pictures, featuring on the image of a beauty in Ancient Times, the Age of the Three Kingdoms, the korea dynasty and the chosen dynasty as well as various kinds of documents, religions books, provrebs and other ancient novels. An idealistic image of a beauty should possess the internal beauty as well as the external beauty at the same time. Furthermore, it should have spiritual beauty, surpassing physical beauty ; in other words, it should have intrinsic value of beauty itself as well.

        수종 치과용 광중합형 복합레진의 화학적 분해

        이상적인 수복재료의 요건으로 치아의 저작기능과 심미성을 충분히 회복시킬 수 있는 물리적. 화학적 성질을 갖추는 동시에 생물학적인 적합성과 구강내 환경변화에 따른 내구성 등을 들 수 있다 그러나 복합레진을 이용하여 치아를 수복하였을 때 수복물은 구강내에서 시간이 흐름에 따라 타액내에서 서서히 분해되고 교합력이나 음식물에 의해 마모되어가는 운명을 거친다. 본 연구에서는 현재 수복재료로서 많이 사용되고 있는 Definite(Degussa-Hiils AG. Germany), Revolution(Kerr, U.S.A.) Unifil(GC, Japan) , Palfique(Tokuyama, Japan)의 4종의 복합레진을 알카리성 용액 (0. IN NaOH)에 보관하였을 때 각 제품의 분해저항성을 평가하고자 하였다. 각 제품당 3개의 시편을 제작하여 무게측정을 한 후 0.IN NaOH에 저장하여 60℃에서 보관하였다. 2주 후 제거하여 HCI로 중화, 세척 후 60℃에서 건조하였다 무게손실, 표면하분해층 깊이, 용출된 Si농도를 기준으로 각 레진의 분해저항성을 평가하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 무게손실량은 Unifil에서 3.21%로 가장 높았으나 각각 제품간에 있어서의 차이를 보이지는 않았다. 2. 분해층 깊이는 107.69∼47.407n의 범위였고, Unifil, Palfique. Revolution, Definite 순으로 감소하였으며 Palfique. Definite를 제외한 다른 제품간에는 유의한 차이를 보였다(p(0.05). 3. Si 용출량은 Palfique가 8940.Oppm으로 가장 많은 용출량을 보였으며 Revolution과 Definite를 제외한 각 제품간에는 유의한 차이를 보였다(p<0.05). 4. 각 제품의 무게손실과 분해층 깊이 사이에는 높은 상관관계를 보였다(r= 0.06, p<0.05) 5. 각 제품의 무게손실과 Si 용출량, 분해층 깊이와 Si 용출량 사이 에는 유의한 상관관계를 보이지 않았다. 6. 주사전자현미경 관찰시 NaOH용액에 보관한 후 레진 기질과 필러 사이의 결합의 파괴를 관찰할 수 있었다. The aim of this study was to evaluate the resistance to degradation of four commercial composite resins in an alkaline solution. The brands studied were Unifil(GC, Japan) , Palfique(Tokuyama, Japan) , Definite(Degussa-Huls AG, Germany) . Revolution(Kerr U.S.A.) . Preweighed discs of each brand were exposed 0. IN NaOH solution at 60℃. After 14 days they were removed, neutralized with HCI, washed with water and dried. Resistance to degra-dation was evaluated on the basis of following parameters : (a) mass loss(%) - determined from pre-and post-ex-posed specimen weights: (b) Si loss(ppm) - obtained from ICP-AE analysis of solution exposed to specimens and (c) degradation depth(㎛) - measured microscopically (SEM) from polished circular sections of exposed specimens. The results were follows. 1 The mass loss of Unifil was 3.21%, it was the highest of materials. But, there was no significant difference among the materials. 2. The degree of degradation layer depth was 107.69∼47.40㎛, the sequence of the degree pf degradation layer depth was in descending order by Unifil, Palfique, Revolution Definitre. There was significant difference among the materials except Palfique and Definite. 3. The Si loss of Paltique was 8940.Oppm, it was the highest. There was significant difference among the materials, except Revolution and Definite(p<0.05). 4. The correlation coefficient between mass loss and degradation depth was relatively high(r = 0.06. p<0.05). 5. There was no significant coefficient correlation between Si loss and mass loss, and/or the degree of degradation layer depth and Si loss. 6. When observed with SEM, destruction of bonding is observed between resin matrix and filler. Above results suggested that the hydrolytic degradation is considered as evaluation factor of composite resins.
