        Suppression of MED19 expression by shRNA induces inhibition of cell proliferation and tumorigenesis in human prostate cancer cells

        MED19 is a member of the Mediator that plays a key role in the activation and repression of signal transduction or the regulation of transcription in carcinomas. To tested the functional role of MED19 in human prostate cancer, we downregulated MED19 expression in prostate cancer cells (PC-3 and DU145) by lentivirus- mediated short hairpin (shRNA), and analyzed the effect of inhibition of MED19 on prostate cancer cell proliferation and tumorigenesis. The in vitro prostate cancer cell proliferation, colony formation, and in vivo tumor growth in nude mice xenografts was significantly reduced after the downregulation of MED19. Knock- down of MED19 caused S-phase arrest and induced apoptosis via modulation of Bid and Caspase 7. It was suggested that MED19 serves as a novel proliferation regulator that promotes growth of prostate cancer cells. [BMB reports 2011; 44(8): 547-552]

        Bond-Orientational Order in Melting of Colloidal Crystals

        Using Brownian dynamics simulation, we study the orientational order in the melting transition of a colloidal system with a `soft' Yukawa potential. The bond-orientational order parameter ⓒ6 and the bond-orientational order function gB(r) are calculated in two-dimensional systems. We found that a two-stage transition and a hexatic phase indeed exist in two-dimensional melting, which is consistent with the prediction of the Kosterlitz-Thouless-Halperin-Nelson-Young theory. For comparing with the melting process in three-dimensional systems, we introduce the probability distribution of the single-particle local-order parameter. Based on extensive simulations, the break- down of local order is qualitatively suggested only to occur on the fractional part of the colloidal system for the two-dimensional melting, but in three-dimensional melting, that breakdown takes place on the whole system at the same time.F

        Numerical simulation of flow and heat transfer characteristic in straight-through labyrinth seals of aeroengines under eccentric and rotating conditions

        In order to investigate the leakage and heat transfer of eccentric labyrinth seals, the flow and heat transfer process of eccentric and rotating straight-through labyrinth seals were numerically simulated. The research results show that the influence of eccentricity and rotation on the leakage coefficient is very small, and the change range is less than 2 %. Under the condition of non-eccentricity, the influence of rotating speed on the leakage coefficient depends on the rotating Taylor number. When the Taylor number is greater than 34.2, the leakage coefficient decreases slightly with the increase of rotating speed. At the same pressure ratio and rotating speed, the average Nusselt number of stator is greater than that of rotor. With the increase of eccentricty, the average Nusselt number of the section with larger clearance increases gradually, while the average Nusselt number of the section with smaller clearance decreases gradually.

        산업연관분석에 의한 중국 캐릭터 산업의 경제적 효과 분석

        중국은 캐릭터산업의 중요성과 가치에 대한 국가적인 공감대에 형성이 약하고 국가 전략산업의 가치 인식의 미미로 인하여 캐릭터 산업의 발전에 큰 어려움을 겪고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 중국 캐릭터 산업의 경제적 효과를 분석하여 향후 캐릭터 산업의 정책수립에 일조하는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 중국 2017년 산업연관표를 활용하였다. 분석결과는 다음가 같다. 중국 캐릭터산업의 생산유발효과는 열 합계 3.45514,행 합계 1.30015로 타 산업보다 낮은 생산유발효과를 보이고 있는 것은 중국 캐릭터 산업이 아직 자기자본비율이 낮은 중소기업에서 생산되고 있음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 캐릭터 산업은 전방연쇄효과를 나타내는 감응도 계수가 0.01426, 영향력계수는 0.03790로 모두 1보다 작은 최종수요적 제조업형이라고 할 수 있다. 셋째, 중국 캐릭터 산업의 소득유발는 0.47690, 생산세 유발효과는-0.04912로 이는 캐릭터 산업이 타 산업보다 전체 산업에서 최종수요가 한 단위 증가될 때마다 발생하는 소득유발과 세부담이 적음을 나타낸다. 중국의 캐릭터 산업은 양적이 성장에도 불구하고 타 산업에 미치는 영향은 낮고 소득창출산업으로서의 역할을 하지 못하고 있다. 중국의 캐릭터 산업의 질적 발전을 위해서는 구조적 개선이 필요하다. Due to the lack of national consensus on the importance and value of the character industry and the lack of recognition of value as a national strategic industry, the development of the character industry is experiencing great difficulties. The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic effects of character industry in China to help establish policies and strategies for the character industry in the future. To this end, this study utilized the China 2017 Industrial Association Table. The analysis results are as follows. Chinas character industry has a lower production inducement effect than other industries with a column total of 3.45514, and a row total of 1.30015. This shows that Chinas character industry is still being produced by small and medium-sized companies with a low equity ratio. Second, in the character industry, the index of the sensitivity of dispersion representing the forward linkage effect is 0.01426 and the impact factor is 0.03790, which are all less than 1. Therefore, it can be said to be the final demand manufacturing type. Third, in China character industrys income induction is 0.47690 and the production tax induction effect is –0.04912. It can be seen that the character industry has less income induction and tax burden generated every time the final demand increases by one unit in the entire industry than in other industries. Despite the quantitative growth of the character industry in China, the impact on other industries is low and it is not playing a role as an income-generating industry. Structural improvement is needed for the qualitative development of Chinas character industry.

        중국 부동산 산업의 경제적 효과 분석

        본 연구의 목적은 중국 부동산 산업연관표를 작성, 이용하여 부동산업의 경제적 효과를 계량적으로 분석하여 향후 정부의 부동산 정책 추진에 일조하는데 있다. 이를 위해 2017년 중국 산업연관표를 활용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구는 중국 부동산 산업의 경제적 효과를 분석하기 위해 중국 통계국의 2017년 산업연관표상 43개 부문 중에서 부동산산업을 분류하여 새로이 부동산산업 산업연관표를 작성, 활용하였다. 분석결과는 우선 부동산 산업의 생산유발계수는 열 합계 1.5804, 행합계 2.2841로 낮은 생산유발효과를 보이고 있는 것은 부동산을 이종의 투기대상과 부의 저장수단인 재테크 대상으로 인식하여 산업적으로 그 중요성을 간과하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 둘째, 부동산업의 감응도계수는 0.0260, 영향력계수는 0.0180으로 이는 부동산 산업이 중간재로 사용하는 타 산업의 발전에 없어서는 안 될 중요한 역할을 하고 있지 못하고 있으며, 또한 부동산 산업의 수요변화가 타 산업들의 수요변화에 많은 영향을 미치지 못하고 있음을 의미한다. 셋째, 부동산산업의 소득유발 계수는 0.2302로 32개 산업 중 제일 낮은 소득유발효과를 보여주고 있으며, 정밀기기 등 제조업보다 부동산 산업에 대한 세부담이 그만큼 큼을 알 수 있다. 넷째, 중국 부동산산업이 각 산업이 생산활동을 영위함에 있어서 산업간 상호의존관계를 맺고 생산에 필요한 노동을 유발하는 고용창출형 산업으로 자리매김을 못하고 있음을 보여주고 있다. The purpose of this paper is to formulate and use the input-output table relations table of China s real estate industry to quantitatively analyze the economic benefits of the real estate industry and to help the government s real estate industry policies in the future. To achieve this purpose the study used the real estate Input-output Table of year 2017 of China. In order to analyze the economic benefits of China s real estate industry, this study classified the real estate industry from the 43 sectors of the input-output table of the China Statistics Bureau in 2017, and re-compiled and used the input-output table. First of all, the column total of the production induction coefficient of the real estate industry is 1.5804, and the rowtotal is 2.2841, showing a lowproduction induction effect. Real estate is regarded as two kinds of speculative objects and a means of wealth storage—financial management objects, which is ignored its importance in the industry. Second, the sensitivity coefficient of the real estate industry is 0.0260, and the influence coefficient is 0.0180. Thismeans that the real estate industry plays an indispensable role in the development of other industries as intermediate materials. In addition, changes in demand in the real estate industry have not had a significant impact on changes in demand in other industries. Third, the income-inducing coefficient of the real estate industry is 0.2302, showing the lowest income-inducing effect among 32 industries. It can be seen that the real estate industry has a greater tax burden compared with manufacturing industries such as precision instruments. Fourth, China s real estate industry has formed an inter-industry interdependence in the operation and production activities of various industries, and has failed to become an employment-creative industry that induces the labor required for production.

        Bibliometric analysis of researches on traditional Chinese medicine for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)

        Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has caused a worldwide pandemic, and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has played an important role in response. We aimed to analyze the published literature on TCM for COVID-19, and provide reference for later research. Methods: This study searched the CBM, CNKI, PubMed, and EMBASE from its establishment to March 11, 2020. VOSviewer 1.6.11 and gCLUTO 2.0 software were used to visually analyze the included studies. Results: A total of 309 studies were included, including 61 journals, 1441 authors, 277 institutions, and 27 provinces. Research collaborations among regions were among those close in geographical distance. The collaborations of institutions and authors were more likely to be restricted to the same region. Among the authors with frequency greater than two (65 authors), only 19 authors had connection with others. More than 70% (358/491) of keywords were only presented once, and 20 keywords were shown more than 10 times. Five research topics were identified: Data mining method based analysis on the medication law of Chinese medicine in prevention and management of COVID-19; exploration of active compounds of Chinese medicine for COVID-19 treatment based on network pharmacology and molecular docking; expert consensus and interpretation of COVID-19 treatment; research on the etiology and pathogenesis of COVID-19; and clinical research of TCM for COVID-19 treatment. Conclusion: The research hotspots were scattered, and the collaboration between authors and institutions needed to be further strengthened. To improve the quality and efficiency of research output, the integration of scientific research and resources, as well as scientific collaboration are needed.

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>A graph is half-arc-transitive if its automorphism group acts transitively on vertices and edges, but not on arcs. It is known that for a prime p there is no tetravalent half-arc-transitive graphs of order p or <SUP>p2</SUP>. Xu [M.Y. Xu, Half-transitive graphs of prime-cube order, J. Algebraic Combin. 1 (1992) 275–282] classified the tetravalent half-arc-transitive graphs of order <SUP>p3</SUP>. As a continuation, we classify in this paper the tetravalent half-arc-transitive graphs of order <SUP>p4</SUP>. It shows that there are exactly p−1 nonisomorphic connected tetravalent half-arc-transitive graphs of order <SUP>p4</SUP> for each odd prime p.</P>

        A single institution experience with robotic and laparoscopic distal pancreatectomies

        Backgrounds/Aims: This study aims to describe our experience with minimally-invasive distal pancreatectomies, with emphasis on the comparison between robotic distal pancreatectomy (RDP) and laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP). Methods: Retrospective review of 102 consecutive RDP and LDP from 2006 to 2019 was performed. Results: There were 27 and 75 patients who underwent RDP and LDP, respectively. There were 12 (11.8%) open conversions and 16 (15.7%) patients had major (>grade 2) morbidities. Patients who underwent RDP had significantly higher rates of splenic preservation (44.4% vs. 13.3%, p=0.002), higher rates of splenic-vessel preservation (40.7% vs. 9.3%, p=0.001), higher median difficulty score (5 vs. 3, p=0.002) but longer operation time (385 vs. 245 minutes, p<0.001). The rate of open conversion tended to be lower with RDP (3.7% vs. 14.7%, p=0.175). Conclusions: In our institution practice, both RDP and LDP were safe and effective. The use of RDP appeared to be complementary to LDP, allowing us to perform more difficult procedures with comparable postoperative outcomes.

      • Extraskeletal Ewing Sarcomas in Late Adolescence and Adults: A Study of 37 Patients

        Background: Extraskeletal Ewing sarcoma (EES)/primitive neuroectodermal tumours (PNET) are rare soft tissue sarcomas. Prognostic factors and optimal therapy are still unconfirmed. Materials and Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis on patients to explore the clinic characteristics and prognostic factors of this rare disease. A total of 37 patients older than 15 years referred to our institute from Jan., 2002 to Jan., 2012 were reviewed. The characteristics, treatment and outcome were collected and analyzed. Results: The median age was 28 years (range 15-65); the median size of primary tumours was 8.2 cm (range 2-19). Sixteen patients (43%) had metastatic disease at the initial presentation. Wide surgical margins were achieved in 14 cases (38%). Anthracycline or platinum-based chemotherapy was performed on 29 patients (74%). Radiotherapy was delivered in 13 (35%). At a median follow-up visit of 24 months (range 2-81), the media event-free survival (EFS) and overall survival (OS) were 15.8 and 30.2 months, respectively. The 3-year EFS and OS rates were 24% and 43%, respectively. Metastases at presentation and wide surgical margins were significantly associated with OS and EFS. Tumour size was significantly associated with OS but not EFS. There were no significant differences between anthracycline and platinum based chemotherapy regarding EFS and OS. Conclusions: EES/PNET is a malignant tumour with high recurrence and frequent distant metastasis. Multimodality therapy featuring wide surgical margins, aggressive chemotherapy and adjuvant local radiotherapy is necessary for this rare disease. Platinum-based chemotherapy can be used as an adjuvant therapy.
